Paragon Los Angeles 2015 Day 1 Streaming Live from Ontario, California

First Attack 2015 Streaming Live from San Juan, Puerto Rico

While the Manila Cup is going down in the Philippines, Puerto Rico has its own tournament taking place at the Sheraton Hotel & Casino in San Juan. First Attack is back for another year, and like Manila Cup, it is a part of this year’s Capcom Pro Tour as a ranking tournament, dishing out those juicy ranking points for the top 16 placers in Ultra Street Fighter IV. Also a part of the tournament line-up are Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat X, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. for Wi U, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

You catch the action, Team Spooky will be taking care of the stream for the weekend.

Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- Round-Robin feat. Beautifuldude, GCYoshi13, and More Streaming Live

In order to reciprocate the American community’s exposure for their scene, Japan’s Ruu and Efute have teamed up with Biscuits and Zidane to put on a special Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- round-robin for players on each coast.

Tonight, a handful of players from the west coast will jump online to battle it out in an intense round-robin. These competitors include Beautifuldude, Pain, Foo, and ARC REVOLUTION CUP qualifiers Nakkiel and MC|GCYoshi13. The competition will be broadcast through Twitch and Niconico Live; the former, complete with English commentary from Biscuits and Brett, has been embedded below.

Burnout Fighter Explores Changes to Nash, Necalli, Birdie, and Ken’s Movelists in Street Fighter V

Over the past few weeks, Burnout Fighter has released videos in a series dedicated to covering how Street Fighter V’s cast has changed from build to build. Their two latest videos touch on Nash, Necalli, Birdie, and Ken.

The first thing Burnout Fighter discusses is the change made to the inputs of Nash’s Sonic Move V-Trigger. The latest builds have changed the direction commands required to make Nash teleport into certain positions around his opponent. He also focuses on changes to properties of moves that make certain combos from the older build no longer valid. To seemingly make up for this, Nash has gained a couple of new Crush Counter normals.

In addition to discussing Nash’s changes, Burnout also goes over newcomer Necalli. As many have guessed, holding forward, back, or neutral changes the position of Necalli’s V-Skill. With its long recovery however, he notes that it isn’t a move you would want to use alot, though it can also be used as a combo ender.

Meanwhile, as was previously reported, Necally’s V-Trigger, Torrent of Power, permanently changes him. Currently, this transformation does not seem to have any negative effects, making it something that Necalli players will want to use in every round. Some of his moves however become slightly slower, which make some combos not work.

Tokyo Game Show’s Ultra Street Fighter IV Bracket is Ridiculously Stacked

In preparation for their Ultra Street Fighter IV tournament at Tokyo Game Show 2015, Mad Catz published a preliminary bracket earlier today detailing the insane amount of talent they’ve pooled together for the event.

Players from all over the world have been invited to participate in this massive tournament, the winner of which will automatically qualify for Capcom Cup 2015 this December. With so much on the line, who will step up and secure this incredible prize?

While that’s a pretty loaded question, we do know that many in the bracket will be looking to play spoiler. Of all the players already qualified for Capcom Cup, only one–Razer’s Xian–won’t be in attendance, meaning the other competitors run the risk of being eliminated by someone who doesn’t necessarily need the win as much as they do.

Last year’s Tokyo Game Show invitational saw the rise of Fukuoka Gamers Club’s Pepeday and his incredible El Fuerte, and he returns this year to try for the repeat. But this time, other up-and-comers will be standing in his way, including Evo 2015 finalist aiai and Chun-Li specialist Matsuri, who recently broke new ground by being the first female participant in TOPANGA LEAGUE history.

Of course, I would be doing my country a disservice by not pointing out the three–yes, count them, three–American competitors. One can never count out Evil Geniuses’ PR Balrog, HooDaMan of Pandora House, and Red Bull’s Snake Eyez, so keep your eyes on that trio as they set out to make waves in Japan.

But really, you have to see this list to believe it; a complete look at the players heading to Tokyo Game Show has been included below for your perusal.

Mew2King Shuts Down Leffen During PAX Prime’s Super Smash Bros. Melee Grand Finals

When Most Valuable Gaming’s Jason “Mew2King” Zimmerman faced off against Team SoloMid’s William “Leffen” Hjelte in Super Smash Bros. Melee at Super Smash Con, things didn’t go quite so well. Out of the matches that they played, Hjelte came away with only a single loss. In an interview directly following that tournament, Cloud 9’s Joseph “Mango” Marquez spoke to Leffen about the win and mentioned that Mew2King “is usually getting destroyed by one person at [any] period in time…you’ve definitely had his number the last few tournaments.”

Fast forward to last weekend when Mew2King and Leffen met in winners finals at PAX Prime. Viewers, as well as Mew2King himself, had to be wondering if Mango’s words would continue to hold some true–would Leffen again walk away with a resounding victory, perhaps even a flawless 6-0?

The set started out with a Fox mirror that went down to the wire as both players struggled to keep their final stock, but Mew2King was able to put the threat of being beaten out of his mind when he closed the first match, setting the tone for the rest of the tournament. Adding Sheik and Marth to his arsenal over the course of the set, Mew2King was able to secure victory over Leffen time and again, walking away with six straight victories himself.

Beefy Smash Doods Find the Beefiest Hit in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has plenty of heavy hitting attacks: Falcon Punch, Shield Breaker, anything involving Ganondorf…the list goes on. But what’s the biggest hit in the game? In their most recent video, the Beefy Smash Doods set out to find just that.

To prove that they have indeed discovered the strongest attack in the game, the video goes through some of the bigger hits available and why they didn’t quite make the cut. In this process, they cover damage caps on things like counters, reflectors, and Villager’s pocketing ability.

Sadly, just because the hit piles on the percentage doesn’t mean it’s practical. This sort of thing will never happen in a one-on-one setting, so the Doods included a small segment dedicated to the largest hit possible when going up against a single opponent as well.

Catch Some Street Fighter V Action with These PAX Prime Tournament Replays

Last weekend, Seattle hosted PAX 2015. This massive event held plenty of standard convention fare, but most notably it housed tournaments for popular and forthcoming fighting titles. One such tournament was, as you might expect, Street Fighter V.

The build used for the tournament included the game’s current full cast, right down to recent addition Rainbow Mika. Sadly, many of the players stayed well within their comfort zones, as seen through the abundance of Ryu and Chun-Li.

Golden Sun’s Isaac Becomes More Than an Assist Trophy Thanks to Smashified

Among the characters who have yet to debut in a Smash game, Golden Sun protagonist Isaac is probably one of the most requested. While Nintendo has flirted with the idea by including him as an assist trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Psynergy master has never been part of the playable cast.

Like many, Smashified wasn’t satisfied with this small reference, and took on the challenge of creating Isaac in the style of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Due to their use of 3D rendering, this project took significantly longer than previous efforts, but resulted in a unique design that actually includes some animation.

Shoryuken Poll: Who Should Join Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-‘s Cast?

As some of you may have heard, Arc System Works is planning to open a special poll later this month concerning what character players want to see added to their latest title, Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-. Unfortunately, this survey will be limited to folks capable of playing the game in its native Japan, so those who don’t live there or have the means to travel will have to watch from the sidelines.

With that in mind, we decided to do a little polling of our own. Inspired by Kakuge-Checker’s own preliminary results, we’ve put together a quick unofficial poll, including all the choices of ArcSys’ campaign.

Where do you stand? Do veterans Baiken, Anji Mito, and Bridget deserve another chance to shine, or should more obscure characters like Fanny and Raven get their time in the spotlight? Feel free to take part below, and don’t forget to visit the comments to explain your decision.
