Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite’s community comes together for their second community combo video

A while back, we featured a community combo video from a number of creators for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Now, the community has come together and released a second installment of this.

In spite of all the setbacks the game has suffered — including a lack of official support keeping it from major tournaments — the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite community has stuck together, continuing to play the game and break it down. The video below is the result of the efforts of a number of community members (who we’ve listed below) dedicated to showing off what this game still has to offer.

Final Showdown demonstrates combos for Teen Gohan, base Goku, Piccolo, Vegito, and base Vegeta in Dragon Ball FighterZ

With a new patch and new characters, there’s a lot of new stuff being discovered in Dragon Ball FighterZ. As such, it’s not surprising that many creators are now hard at work figuring out just what new things characters can do. One such creator is none other than Final Showdown. Aside from being one of the most influential combo video makers for the game, he’s also one of the most prolific — and he proves that latter point here with five new combo videos.

First up, we have a couple of videos that explore the maximum damage potential of base form Goku, and Teen Gohan. The latter is a character that Final Showdown has explored before, and this video builds on his older ones. As for the former, he labels the video with a question mark, indicating that there may be more to see from the character.

Next up, we have Vegito, who Final Showdown was working on prior to the patch. The video below explores some things that have changed for the fusion after the latest patch.

Moving on, this Piccolo video demonstrates some impressive looking orb combos for Piccolo.

Finally, we have this video demonstrating some loop combos for base form Vegeta. Interestingly enough, Final Showdown has stated that he hasn’t put as much time into the character , and as such the combos here aren’t optimal ones, just some stuff he’s found that the character can do.

Hitomi and Lei Fang spring into action in their official Dead or Alive 6 reveal trailer

The T’ai Chi Ch’uan Prodigy & The Fist Of Innocence vs. the Kraken?

As previously reported, returning characters Hitomi and Lei Fang — as well as a new stage — were leaked ahead of their Gamescom reveal. Now, Koei Tecmo has released their official Dead or Alive 6 reveal trailer, filled with over-the-top action.

The trailer below shows both veteran characters in their new Dead or Alive 6 aesthetic, duking it out on a lost pirate ship. Forbidden Fortune, is filled with danger zones, including a giant Kraken that’s seemingly triggered by hitting an opponent with a Break Blow near explosive barrels. The Kraken then slams its victim into the deck with a giant tentacle, causing the deck to collapse, sending both players into the ship’s treasure and booby trap-laden hold below.

Dead or Alive 6 is set to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in early 2019.

DotEmu reveals Windjammers 2, coming to Nintendo Switch and PC in 2019

It has been 14 years since the original release of the oddball Data East-developed disc throwing game Windjammers. In that time, Windjammers has defied categorization and expectations — it managed to remain relevant in FGC side tournaments, run a massive international tournament league, and was at one point considered for main stage Evo time.

It makes you wonder how well a true sequel could do, doesn’t it?

DotEmu, makers of the PlayStation 4/Nintendo Switch Windjammers ports, are wondering that, too:

Get ready! The legendary disc throwing game, Windjammers, is getting a sequel! Windjammers 2 will combine everything fans love about the classic title with entirely hand-drawn 2D animations to create the ultimate windjamming experience. Windjammers 2 will fly onto Nintendo Switch and PC in 2019.

This is a surprising new chapter in the Windjammers saga, one as appropriately unpredictable as anything else involving Windjammers. Though DotEmu has proved themselves capable of updating a classic, the french developer is almost exclusively known for emulation — Windjammers 2 is a bold attempt at entering the development market.

Despite the gloriously retro animation in its cinematic trailer, there’s currently no information or visuals of the gameplay itself — though there’s the hint that its cast might be all-new, as neither of the characters in the trailer are from the original Windjammers. Either that, or their character designs have been pushed so far over the top with glitter and neon colors that they have become unrecognizable… Which, for Windjammers? That’s totally fine.

DotEmu’s claim of “entirely hand-drawn 2D animations” is a herculean promise in this day and age; SRK will be ready to report further on it once we see it in action.

EQNX|Dimeback talks with BornFree about accidentally picking Asuka, Love of Holeman’s play-style, new characters, and more!

“When I saw Tekken Crash, I saw my future playing professional Tekken.”

Dimeback, whose moniker is a play on Pantera guitarist “Dimebag Darrell”, has made a name for himself in the Tekken 7 scene for being one of the very few Asuka players to take her to the top. It may have been fate that led him down this path, though, because his most famous character was not who he wanted to play as — in fact, it was a complete accident that he ended up with Asuka at all, as he revealed in his latest interview with BornFree:

If you believe in fate, at least, then Dimeback’s pick is certainly a product of it. “Asuka can kind of ignore frame data,” Dimeback said. “Being able to play the mind games where I can play unexpectedly, is something I like to do.” Knowing that, it’s hard to imagine that he almost ended up being a Kazuya player.

Warframe experiments with 2D Fighting mini-game called “Frame Fighter”

The FPS dungeon crawler is dabbling in a different genre.

Warframe’s latest update comes with an entirely new gaming experience! The FPS dungeon crawler now has a fighting mini-game, where two players face off in a traditional 2-D fighting game. Inspired by Warframe fan LocoCrazy_, the brand-new Frame Fighter could be enough to get fighting game fans into the FPS genre.

Players can choose from an initial roster of Excalibur, Volt, and Mag, all of which possess unique abilities. Additional fighters unlock through acquiring “Fragments” throughout their Warframe experience. Additionally, if a player has scanned Warframe’s Prime into their inventory, they will be able to fight using the Prime versions of their selected characters.

[Editor’s Note: I dare someone to find frame data for this and send it in.]

Hitomi, Lei Fang, and new stage leaked early for Dead Or Alive 6 ahead of their Gamescom reveal

At Evo 2018, Team NINJA teased that series veterans Hitomi and Lei Fang would be officially revealed for Dead Or Alive 6 at Gamescom next week. However, it seems that the cat has gotten out of the bag a bit earlier as French news outlet Playscope has released screenshots of Hitomi and Lei Fang ahead of their planned reveal next week.

The screenshots not only show Hitomi and Lei Fang, but also feature a new stage set on an abandoned ship wreck. The stage seems to have two levels, one on top of the ship, and one in its hold that’s filled with treasure. More importantly, it features a Danger Zone involving a the tentacle from a giant cephalopod (a kraken, perhaps?) attacking the player.

You can check out the new stage, as well as Hitomi and Lei Fang in the gallery below.

Of course, with the above have been leaked, we’re still bound to get more from Dead Or Alive 6’s planned reveal at Gamescom 2018. This will most likely include actual footage and gameplay — one would hope.

Gamescom 2018 takes place from August 21 to 25 at the Koelnmesse, in Cologne, Germany. Dead Or Alive 6 is set to launch on PlayStation 4, PC, and XBox One sometime in 2019.

Tekken 7 Season 2 begins on September 6 with new characters, system adjustments, and gameplay features

Anna Williams and Lei Wulong are right around the corner!

During the Tokyo Tekken Masters 2018, tons of new information was shared about Tekken 7‘s Season 2 by the game’s lead developers.

First off, a Welcome Price version of Tekken 7 was announced for Japan only for 4000 yen and which comes with a coupon discounting Season 1 and an exclusive PS4 theme.

Extended trailers for Anna Williams and Lei Wulong were released, adding onto the shorter versions unveiled at Evo 2018. These new trailers showcase more of the DLC characters’ moves, punishes, and rage arts.

Lei Wulong

There will be three major overhauls implemented with Season 2 of Tekken 7, starting with a new easy combo method. This mechanic was visited partially in Story Mode but will be more realized in Season 2 in general gameplay. Similar to the auto-combo system found in Dragon Ball FighterZ, the combos can be initiated by pressing a singular button multiple times. These moves are not set at maximum damage but are a good way to introduce new players. The auto-combo system can be utilized both offline and online but will be disabled in Tournament Mode.

The next series of major changes are focused on the ranking system in online mode. There will now be a gauge that shows players exactly how far away they are from their next rank. Players will be able to view how many points they will lose or gain from battles.

The third and final major change disclosed at the time of this stream is a new gameplay mechanic known as the “Wall Bounce”, which allows for extended combos. The Wall Bounce is designed to create new opportunities for characters without explicitly balancing their capabilities. The development team hopes that this new mechanic will diversify the characters seen at tournaments.

Tekken 7‘s Season 2 Pass’ exact pricing for North America has not been disclosed, but expect it to be around $25 due to the price of each character being around $5 separately with 6 new characters in total.

An interesting bit of information to note that was shared near the end of this portion of the stream is that Katsuhiro Harada is no longer a part of the arcade version’s development, with all major implementations hitting console and PC first.

Anna Williams, Lei Wulong, and all of the new features that were shown off during the stream will be available when Season 2 of Tekken 7 kicks off on September 6, 2018. You can catch the entire stream with all of the new announcements and stellar matches below! Until then, get ready for a brand new Tekken 7!

MixBox showcases Street Fighter V character combos, and discusses their new SOCD switch

MixBox has done more than replace joysticks with keyboard buttons — they are now revealing a new SOCD switch, as well as a slew of combo videos to show fans exactly how precise their controller can be.

The MixBox is known for its unique take on button inputs. Rather than using a joystick, the MixBox has installed keyboard buttons in its place, a first-cousin of sorts to the HitBox arcade controller. This decision was made for PC players to utilize multi-button inputs, as well as to save on stick space with accessibility and finger placement in mind.

While the MixBox might look like the perfect controller for PC players looking to make the switch, joystick and gamepad fiends rightly speculate on its ease of use. YouTuber Future Soldiers created a combo video to showcase the stick’s precision and responsiveness. “A lot of people have been skeptical about this fight stick,” he began, “It’s very responsive once you get used to it. Yes, there’s a learning curve to it, just as there is with the HitBox… as far as execution goes, it’s on point, because there’s no diagonals.”

mixbox_keyboard_arcade_controller_1

Much like the HitBox, players can simply use a button combination in place of directional inputs, dismissing the need for joysticks’ directional precision. Future Soldiers’ combo video was a prime example of this: he was able to clear Ryu’s trials quickly and cleanly, with a simple combination of button presses for both directional inputs and attacks. More trial videos are forthcoming, as well, detailing Season 1 all the way through Season 3, and beyond.

PyJmHQ8aAside from demonstrating the MixBox’s precision, the company is also implementing a new switch meant to aid players of charge characters. According to MixBox, the SOCD switch has multiple settings, allowing two keyboard inputs to be read as neutral, upwards, or forwards. “When you press left, and then press right, the forward input will become neutral,” a representative explained. “When you press down and press up, the forward input will become up. Another option is, when you press left and then press right, the forward input it will become right. When you press down and press up, forward will become up, as well.”

MixBox’s representative assured that the switch is tournament legal, as consulted by staff of the Evolution Championship Series. Be sure to keep an eye out for more combo videos demonstrating the MixBox’s input accuracy!
