Gain a New Perspective on Mortal Kombat X’s Battles with This Camera Mod

Some of you may recall that we featured a mod for Street Fighter IV that allowed players to take control of the game’s camera some time ago. Now, a similar tool has been developed for Mortal Kombat X on PC.

Much like their work on Injustice: Gods Among Us and Mortal Kombat 9, Enigma642’s new mod allows players to take unique action shots or ignore the battles altogether and just explore the games detailed backgrounds.

Check out the video below to see what the mod is capable of.

Anyone interested in this can head on over to the Test Your Might to download it. Take note, however, that the current version has only been tested on 64-bit machines and may not work on 32-bit systems.

Street Fighter V Playable at Community Effort Orlando 2015

Street Fighter V will make its playable debut at Community Effort Orlando 2015, according to a brand new trailer released by the event’s organizers.

This latest development is yet another piece of a tournament that refuses to stop growing. In addition to Tekken 7 also being present at the event courtesy of Bandai Namco and Mad Catz, this year’s Community Effort Orlando will see further developer support in the form of huge pot bonuses for Ultra Street Fighter IV, Mortal Kombat X, and Killer Instinct.

The highly anticipated follow-up to the iconic franchise’s 2009 return, Street Fighter V features a classic lineup of cast members in Ryu, Chun-Li, and M. Bison as well as the return of fan favorite Charlie Nash. Capcom has provided very little official information regarding the title’s gameplay mechanics, making this appearance at Community Effort Orlando that much more important to fans hungry for details.

Check out the full trailer below.

Community Effort Orlando 2015 is scheduled for June 26-28. Additional details can be found through their official website.

Tanya Coming to Mortal Kombat X in Early June

mkx-tanya-fatality-2-622-crop

With some of the new character smell wearing off Mortal Kombat X’s Jason Voorhees, players are starting to look ahead to the next release. Answering a question from one such fan, NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon said that we can expect Tanya to drop sometime in early June.

A series veteran, Tanya will lead the charge as the first post-launch character that’s native to the Mortal Kombat universe. Very little is known about what she brings to the table in her first appearance since Armageddon, but recent updates provided quick glimpses of her updated design and finishers.

Like Jason, Tanya’s release will come bundled with a trio of costumes for Kano, Sonya Blade, and Liu Kang. The last two characters in the Kombat Pack, Tremor and the Predator, are scheduled to arrive at a later date.

While Combo Breaker is popping off in Chicago, the folks behind Couch Warriors will be hosting the seventh installment of Battle Arena Melbourne in Australia.

Much like the American event, Battle Arena Melbourne 7 is set to feature an impressive collection of titles for competition, stretching all the way back to games like Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Super Smash Bros. 64. Street Fighter Goes Cyberpunk in Beautiful Deus Ex Crossover Artwork

As video game culture continues to expand, fans are constantly hypothesizing what mashups of radically different series would look like. Hell, the fighting genre is full of them, what with the million and one crossovers Capcom produced over the years, and it’s fun to dream up what other shenanigans the Street Fighter cast would get into if they were plopped down in an entirely different universe.

Today, we want to share the products of one such dream.

A couple of days ago, concept artist Anthony Jones shared a handful of absolutely gorgeous pieces that depict what some of our favorite World Warriors would look like if they stepped into a dystopic future where body modifications were commonplace. As you can see in the gallery below, this offers us a radically different yet wholly amazing take on the characters we’ve known for nearly two decades.

While this artwork keeps some very distinct parts of each fighter’s traditional look (Guile’s hair, Chun-Li’s puffy sleeves), the dramatic twist of theme makes each piece a fantastic departure from what we’re used to seeing of these characters.

For more of Anthony’s work, feel free to visit his personal website as well as his ArtStation portfolio. There’s a ton of great stuff to be found.

EG|Justin Wong, CCG|Air, TS|Lord Knight, and More Take Part in Texas Showdown 2015’s Ultra Fight Night Exhibitions

Earlier this month, Texas hosted their now fourteen-year-old tournament series, Texas Showdown. Aside from the tournament proper, this year’s event held a special series of exhibition matches, dubbed Ultra Fight Night, which included matches between the local talent and a handful of the top players within their respective games. Some of the big names included Evil Geniuses’ Justin Wong, Canada Cup Gaming’s Air, Jan, and Team Spooky’s Lord Knight.

If you missed out on these matches, PandaxGaming recently started uploading these sets, including matches from Ultra Street Fighter IV and Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-. We’ve embedded a handful of these below for your viewing pleasure, so be sure to check them out if you missed the live broadcast.

The full playlist can be found here. Full results from Texas Showdown can be found in our coverage hub.

Ogawa’s Zato-1 Meets Sharon’s Elphelt in Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-

The more rabid Guilty Gear fans out there are all probably familiar with a Japanese arcade by the name of Mikado, but for those who aren’t in the loop, here’s the main thing you need to know: they play Guilty Gear there, and they play it very well. Mikado is host to some of the best talent in the world, and they stream and record their tournaments quite often to show it off. With such a pool of strong players, it only makes sense long exhibition sets are going to occur, and yesterday saw a pretty good first-to-ten Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- set go down in the revered game center.

The first player to introduce here is somebody we’ve discussed before: Ogawa. He left a trail of bodies during his visit to Northwest Majors 7, and he is still continuing to power through players back home with his trademark Zato-1. The player he faces in this set goes by the name of Sharon, who made a name for themselves back in the days of Accent Core with Baiken. Unfortunately, their main didn’t make it into the Xrd roster, but they still managed to power to the top of the arcade rankings with Ramlethal Valentine and have since begun to climb the charts with the newly-released Elphelt Valentine.

Should you have missed out on the live broadcast, we’ve gone ahead and embedded the archive below. The set in question begins around the 28:30 mark, so you’ll need to scroll ahead just a bit.

Unleash Greninja’s Combo Potential in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

One of the many newcomers in the two latest Super Smash Bros. installments is Greninja. This Pokémon fills the niche for quick but weak-hitting characters with his remarkable speed and movement.

That said, to maximize his potential, Greninja players will obviously need to learn how to pull off his combos. With this in mind, KarinaBunnyK has put together a combo tutorial that demonstrates a good number of the frog’s strings.

A majority of the combos in the video below are “true combos,” which means that the opponent cannot use directional influence to fall out. The only exceptions are the down aerial spike combos.
