A few days ago, Flying High offered up some of the craziest Haggar incoming mixups this side of the galaxy. Today, we’ve got another set of ways for the mayor to get in there and get the damage going.

The mixups include crossup Hoodlum Launchers, crossup standing light attacks which, if blocked, leave opponents vulnerable to Piledrivers, and ways to deal with pesky people who try to jump away from said Piledrivers. Flying High even includes a setup that forces pushblockers right into Haggar’s waiting arms.

There truly is no escaping the mayoral mustache.

Aside from the Capcom Pro Tour qualifier, one of the most exciting bits of Ultra Street Fighter IV action at The Fall Classic 2014 this weekend was an exhibition match between Snake Eyez and Pepeday. Both players are considered masters of their respective grappler characters: Snake Eyez finished in the top eight at Evolution 2014 with Zangief, while Pepeday took a surprise victory at the Mad Catz Tokyo Game Show 2014 tournament using El Fuerte.

With Pepeday able to attend TFC 2014 thanks to the efforts of the members of the community, the stage was set for these two grapplers to face off against each other. For those who either missed the exhibition, or simply want to relive the moment, Team Spooky was quick to upload an archive.

The Japanese visitor also paid a visit to a Salty Suite during his trip to North Caroline, where he faced off against competitors such as Team Spooky’s Arturo “Sabin” Sanchez, 801 Strider, and PoeM of Team PIE. You’ll find replays of those matches below.

Level|Up Series just went live with another installment of Super Smash Sundays, broadcast as always from Super Arcade in Walnut, California. Presented in collaboration with Team OXY, this biweekly tournament series provides an excellent look at Southern California’s Smash community through both singles and doubles tournaments for Super Smash Bros. Melee and popular Super Smash Bros. Brawl mod Project M, which alternate from weekend to weekend.

Until now, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Ver.2012 has brought much excitement to TOPANGA LEAGUE, but it’s time to go Ultra. TOPANGA LEAGUE 4 will be the first League to utilize Capcom’s Ultra Street Fighter IV. As with the previous two seasons, the fourth season of TOPANGA LEAGUE will consist of A and B Leagues, starting the competition with B League. With a new season comes new and returning players and a different selection of characters (including three of the five USFIV newcomers), but what remains is the same drive and same goal: to rise to the top and ascend to A League.

Format & Rules

Ranking Round-robin League

A sixteen-player online round-robin league. Matches are best of three rounds, best of five games. In the case of a tie in rankings, order is determined by the players’ game win-loss difference, with one game counting as one point. For example, a 3-0 victory counts as +3, while a 2-3 loss counts as -1. If there is still a tie, the winner of the match between the two players claims the higher ranking.

The top four players will automatically advance to A League. Fifth and sixth place will advance to the league replacement matches for a chance to advance to A League.

League Replacement Round-robin League

In a change-up from previous seasons, instead of single matches, the league replacement matches will be an offline round-robin with B League fifth and sixth place and 3rd A League eighth place Fuudo and ninth place Dashio. Matches are best of three rounds, best of thirteen games. In the case of a set point tie (6-6), the match goes into deuce. The first player to gain a two-game advantage or reach ten wins claims victory. Two characters are allowed, with mid-match switches allowed every three-game interval for the losing player within that interval.

In the B League fifth place vs. sixth place match and in the A League eighth place vs. ninth place match, the player with the higher rank will start with a one-game advantage. All other matches will be played with an even start.

Broadcast & Pricing Information

TOPANGA LEAGUE 4 will be streamed on Niconico Live as a pay-per-view series of broadcasts. In order to view, you must have a registered Niconico account.

• B League season ticket – 1500 Niconico points (~13.75 USD)
• B-A League season ticket – 4500 Niconico points (~41.30 USD)

The B League ticket will allow purchasers to watch all eleven days of B League. The A-B League ticket includes the entirety of B League as well as the upcoming A League in November.

In order to purchase tickets, one must first buy the appropriate amount of Niconico points. One point is the equivalent of one Japanese yen. After a week of fierce regional competition in the United States, sixteen competitors have been gathered at the Nintendo World Store in New York City, New York to take part in the finals of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. for 3DS National Open Tournament.

As the name suggests, participants will be duking it out in the handheld version of the franchise’s latest installment, proving that their smaller wins at the GameStop qualifiers were no fluke. The full list of participants can be found below.

After taking the time to stop by Rebel Up! last Sunday, Lab Zero Games’ Mike Zaimont was back at the equally excited Salty! on Friday to show off even more of Skullgirls Encore’s next downloadable character, Beowulf.

There’s been a good amount of progress made in the few days between the events, most notably two new moves: Beowulf’s crouching medium kick and a fully-animated finisher for his grab mode. The former is interesting in that, while it acts like a low normal in most situations, it will pick the opponent up if they happen to be on the ground and put Beowulf into grab mode. Though it lasts much shorter than if he were to enter the stance normally, it still leads to some very interesting combos even in this unfinished build.

The grab mode finisher, in which Beowulf uses his folding chair to cossack dance straight into the opponent’s face, needs to be seen in motion to be fully appreciated. Finally, the wrestler has a few more animations in place for things like blocks, pushblocks, and more. Makr0ss was kind enough to provide a video of all the juiciest information, which you’ll find below, but you can also check out the entire Salty! archive here.

Mike also mentioned that replay functionality will soon be added to Encore’s endless beta on Steam for fans to try out before it lands in the full release, allowing them to save local and online matches for sharing later.

Live from FACE Shinjuku in Tokyo, Japan is the Ultra Street Fighter IV Isshun Sengeki Cup finals tournament. Isshun Sengeki Cup (“One Autumn, One Thousand Strikes”, a play on Akuma’s Wrath of the Raging Demon) is the Grade A event of Capcom and TAITO’s national tournaments in Japan, featuring a sizable prize pool.

Isshun Sengeki Cup consists of a singles and 3on3 competition. While the 3on3 tournament will be a standard winners-stay team format, the singles event is a Capcom Pro Tour premier tournament, with a double-elimination, best of 3 games format (best of 5 games for the Grand Final). The winner of the singles tournament will claim a spot in the Capcom Cup 2014 finals this December.
