Ricardo Roman recently put out a new Ultra Street Fighter IV video showing off some high-damage options for three very different characters: Sakura, Sagat, and Decapre. As with previous videos from Ricardo, you’ll probably see something that you’ve never seen before. There is plenty of looping, character-specific hurtbox abuse, and a whole lot more to keep this latest exhibition entertaining.
Perhaps the most interesting part of the video is a bit of tech with Sagat that comes early on. It involves a block string which spaces Sagat perfectly to land a cross-up EX Tiger Knee on his crouching opponent, which, of course, goes right into Ultra 1. And no Sakura combo video is complete without plenty of Tatsu loops!
While we’ve been enjoying a year’s worth of great Street Fighter competition courtesy of the Capcom Pro Tour, one question has continued to linger in our minds: when will the finals event take place? Fortunately, Capcom recently went live with a number of details pertaining to the spectacle they have in store for the fighting game community.
Capcom Cup 2014 will take place at San Francisco’s historic Warfield Theatre on December 13. A regular stop for musical acts of all kind, The Warfield is a legendary venue that should be more than capable of providing a great space for the scene to revel in our shared interest.
In addition to the sixteen-player Ultra Street Fighter IV action, Capcom has a variety of other activities planned for attendees, including live performances of the Street Fighter franchise’s most iconic music by The Megas, sponsor booths, signing sessions, an appearance by producer Yoshinori Ono, and more.
Much like past installments, Capcom Cup 2014 is set to be quite an event for us fighting game fans. Be sure to check out Capcom’s official announcement for more details.
The weekend, the fighting game action moves to the US East Coast with The Fall Classic 2014. Streaming live from Raleigh, North Carolina, TFC 2014 will play host to a couple of important tournaments. First up is the final North American Premier tournament of the Capcom Pro Tour for Ultra Street Fighter IV. As such, multiple top players such as RZR|Xian, EG|PR Balrog, EG|Ricky Ortiz, EG|KBrad, Twitch|Mike Ross, eSports Max|Tampa Bison, MOR|Rico Suave, and r/Kappa.FGC|Pepeday will be in attendance, fighting for that final guaranteed slot for the Finals this December.
TFC 2014 also hosts the culmination of Koei-Tecmo’s “Road to the Fall Classic 2014″ tournament series for Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate. As such, top DOA5U players such as RG|Sonic Fox, MC|Kwiggle, HajinShinobi, ElectrifiedMann, lopedo, Master, and more will be fighting for the championship.
In addition to these, a plethora of other games will be played at the event.

Earlier this month, three brand new assist characters were announced for Dengeki Bunko FIGHTING CLIMAX, the interesting crossover title that features a cast made up of figures from a variety of the publisher’s popular light novel series. This latest round of backup fighters includes A Certain Magical Index’s Accelerator, the eponymous heroine of Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-Chan, and Izaya Orihara from Durarara!!.
While concrete gameplay information on these assistants has yet to be released, we can glean a few details from the above footage.
First off, Accelerator appears to act as a counter, throwing out fellow A Certain Magical Index character Last Order before launching the opponent in retaliation. Dokuro-chan, on the other hand, tosses her bludgeoning weapon to create huge outburst of energy in front of her. Finally, Izaya kicks the enemy combatant to the ground with a low attack, stomps on them, and then knocks them back up into the air for follow-up attacks.
Dengeki Bunko FIGHTING CLIMAX is scheduled to release for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in Japan on November 13.
Due to yet another round of issues on Microsoft’s platform, Eliza’s appearance in the Xbox 360 version of Skullgirls Encore called for a slight delay after her debut on PlayStation 3 and PC. Fortunately, those circumstances have been cleared up and the folks at Lab Zero Games have announced that she will be available for download next Tuesday, October 14.
Lab Zero’s Earl “render” Gertwagen relayed to us that the indie fighter’s Required Compatibility Update will be revised on the same day, which means player need to be sure they redownload that content so they can play with Eliza. Much like past characters, she will be free to download for a period of three months after her launch.

After successfully reaching their previous goal, Capcom’s partnership with Teespring continues today with a brand new line of Capcom Pro Tour merchandise. As with the first round, part of the proceeds collected from these sales will go towards the prize pool at Capcom Cup. The opening line of apparel boosted the pot by over $1800, so let’s see how much the community can contribute this time around!
This second helping of Street Fighter-inspired clothing features designs created for two events going down this weekend, The Fall Classic 2014 and Taito Arcade Nationals, as well as Capcom Pro Tour Asia’s finals event, which is set to take place later this month.

Gouken is an offensive powerhouse in Ultra Street Fighter IV. Once he gets started, his damage and stun output are hard to ignore. Combine this with the fact that he can turn many of his combo enders into reset situations that result in a full dizzy and it’s easy to see that a well-played Gouken has a good chance at taking any matchup.
The tutorial below offers three different types of resets that involve either his overhead, a jumping fierce, or a fake cross-up. ViperGoomba explores these options in great detail and offers various applications against the game’s full range of health pools. The reset kills appearing late in the video will put down the entire cast if successfully landed.
Level|Up Series returns tonight with another installment of The Runback’s third 2014 season, broadcasting from the under-renovation Super Arcade in Walnut, California. Much like previous events, some of SoCal’s best will be coming together to compete in returning titles Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Killer Instinct, Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late, and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, so be sure to tune in early and catch as much of the action as possible.

Over the past few months, Northern California has been stepping their collective game up with regards to consistent events, and one of the big groups behind all this is competitive gaming organization ShowDown. Their weekly Churning the Butter tournament has only been running for a couple weeks, and yet they are garnering a player base on par with other local tournaments around the country. And, as we highlighted in videos from their second outing, some fantastic talent is showing up to throw down and improve their own game.
Tonight, they have once again taken over Folsom Street Foundry in San Francisco, California to put on an Ultra Street Fighter IV tournament for the regional players. Want to check these tournaments out for yourself? Be aware that, as a printed product, much of the information contained within is at risk of becoming obsolete should Capcom release subsequent patches for Ultra in the future. Still, the basic character knowledge could be just the thing a non-competitive friend or family member needs to jump into Street Fighter wholeheartedly, so it could still have its uses as time goes on.
