In a game where aerial dominance plays a key role in securing victory, it’s easy to forget about the fighters who spend most of their time with their feet firmly on the floor. These grounded fighters, like Iron Fist, hop into the air only rarely, and only when absolutely necessary to keep a combo going. But when Iron Fist gets his opponents where he wants them, he’s got all the right tools to pile on the solo damage and make them regret ever leaving the safety of the sky.

Those who enjoy this down to Earth fighter will be pleased to see MrFlubb’s latest Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 combo video. This footage is a testament to the dangers of trying to go toe-to-toe with a character who packs such a punch. Going about opening opponents up witht his fighter, well, that’s a story for another day, but once those fists start connecting, chances are you’ll be down a character.

Option selects change the way that any fighting game is played. The more inputs that you can cram together, the more situations a given option select will apply to. Naturally, this makes top players incorporate the option selects that offer them the most bang for their inputs.

In the video below, Paul Morpheus shows off a version for Fei Long that affords him advantages in a downright alarming amount of scenarios. The technique will tech throws as well as toss an uppercut in the event of a frame trap, which effectively covers the glaring weakness associated with crouch-teching. Fei Long will even block if the given situation warrants a block.

As you might expect, the timing involved is pretty tight and can change slightly depending on the situation at hand. Paul says that doing this multiple times in a row when being pressured is incredibly dangerous because it’s more complex than a simple crouch tech and because the aggressor has the advantage of staggering the timing of their pressure to mess it up.

This option select will work with any character who has a reversal with a standard dragon punch input, but since Fei Long uses a backwards motion in order to execute his reversal, he has the easiest time remaining safe during the technique. As with anything like this, there are weaknesses involved and Paul dedicates a good deal of the video to showing exactly what kinds of things players can expect to beat it out.

The music of Killer Instinct has been loved ever since the title first hit arcades back in the 90s. Fans of the series who picked up early copies of the SNES title also received Killer Cuts, the CD version holding all of those great character themes that made every bone shattering blow that much sweeter.

Good music can make any fight better, but what about when the fight stops entirely? By now, it’s no secret that the Xbox One version of Killer Instinct has completely different music that plays if the fight stops for an extended period of time. These songs will never be heard during tournament play or a heated online tussle, so Light Buster decided to spend some time standing still in both the Downtown Demolition and City of Dawn stages to record these jams for the ears of the world that may have otherwise missed them entirely.

So pop on some headphones, kick back and crank up the volume.
