Yesterday, we featured some practical happy birthday combos for Doctor Doom that maximize damage against multiple targets. Today, we’ve got a video of the Latverian capping out his damage with some insane level 3 X-Factor combos against single targets. As expected, once the foot dives start flying, things get out of hand pretty quickly. Sometimes the damage even breaks the 2 million point–why not? As video creator Aries says of the combos, “some are practical, some aren’t, but who cares. It’s Marvel [baby].”

Several of these combos are performed against Sentinel and make great use of his towering hurtbox, but a good deal of them work on regular-sized combatants as well. Stick around until the end for a special segment where Sentinel and Taskmaster try their hand at some level 3 X-Factor craziness.

Standard combo videos are a necessary part of spreading fighting game knowledge to other players and serve as an excellent teaching tool for those picking up fresh characters, a fresh game, or just taking their first steps into the genre as a whole. Even though combo videos do a world of good for the community, it’s common for them to include technology that may never see use outside of training mode due to incredible execution ceilings, unlikely setups that get things going or any number of other small factors.

That’s what makes this combo video from Zerms4 and Flying High stand out from the crowd. Each combo that you’re about to witness comes from online matches played over PSN and Xbox Live. While this sort of combo video has certainly been compiled before, it’s a markedly less common style of video than what we’re used to seeing on a daily basis.

The video offers a great variety of characters and features notable players like xWAx Weeberman, FatTreeWizard, CorkyJay and many more. You’ll see M.O.D.O.K. put down an opponent without using any meter after a long-ranged beam hit confirm, you’ll see some particularly dirty resets from Jill and you’ll see plenty of combos that begin from what look to be nothing more than stray hits. And the best part is that every bit of what you’re about to see is 100% viable for use in a real match.

Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is still alive and well in Japan. Today Virtua Fighter Relationship (VFR) is hosting The 15th BEAT-TRIBE CUP, the grand finals for the VFR 2013-2014 season. This is the largest Virtua Fighter event of the year, with 120 teams of 5 players participating. There’s a lot to be said for sticking to your main even when the odds are stacked against you. Sure, it might be smarter to swap over to a pocket shoto, or, in some cases, to just counter-pick your opponent outright, but if your main got you to the top eight, why not let them carry you all the way to victory?

In order to help better prepare fellow Dee Jay players for this sort of situation, Paul “BlaqSkillz” DeCuir shared some tips on how to defeat Fei Long in Ultra Street Fighter IV with the folks at Denkiphile. According to DeCuir, it may be one of the worst matches out there. “On paper it’s an 8-2,” he explains, “but if you space him right, I believe you can make it, at best, a 7-3.”

Unfortunately, those still aren’t exactly the best odds.

As with any matchup, you’ll want to keep Fei outside of his effective range, which will allow Dee Jay to make use of some of his better buttons. This sort of spacing will also tempt Fei players to jump. That will, of course, be a rarity at high levels, but if Dee Jay plays in a calm and calculated manner at this range, they may have no other choice. DeCuir says the last thing that you want to happen is to find yourself in the corner, as this is the point when the match becomes almost impossible to win.

With Capcom Cup just a few days away, UltraChen TV and Capcom Fighters are now quickly going through the remainder of the competitors at this year’s big event. This time, they take a look at a couple of Evo Street Fighter champions, 2011 first-place finisher Ai “Fuudo” Keita from Team Razer and this year’s champ Oliver “Luffy” Hay from Team Meltdown.

The last person to qualify for Capcom Cup thanks to his win at DreamHack Winter 2014, Fuudo has always been known for his solid Fei Long, not to mention a very lengthy and rewarding competitive history with the Virtua Fighter series. In order to showcase what he brings to the table, UltraDavid and James Chen break down his top eight match at Evolution 2014 against fellow Capcom Cup competitor Snake Eyez.

Now, there are some who attribute Luffy’s win to his use of Rose, a character who many consider to be quite strong in Ultra Street Fighter IV; David and James, however, point out that the French competitor has been using Rose and doing well with her since he started back in vanilla. That experience with the character allows him to play her the way he wants to and win, such as in the grand finals match at Evolution 2014 against Bonchan.

Capcom Cup 2014 is scheduled for this Saturday, December 13, at the historic Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, California.
