See more of Bandai Namco’s upcoming arena fighter Jump Force in the E3 2018 “Gameplay Mash-up” trailer

As you may already know, Bandai Namco announced their new Shonen Jump crossover arena fighter Jump Force at E3 2018. For those still trying to wrap their heads around the concept — or are simply reveling in the hype — the company has released a new trailer to follow the reveal.

The company calls the trailer below a “gameplay mash-up”.  In practice, this means that the trailer is a montage of gameplay, showing the characters from these various Shonen Jump franchises duking it out in various arenas, and showing off some of the moves that they can pull off.

Jump Force is set to hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam) sometime in 2019.

Hints from game stage and producer Okubo suggest Talim will make it into SoulCalibur VI

Though plenty of fans are happy with how SoulCalibur VI looks and feels, the game is very much in that stage where people are wondering “will my character make it in?!” (Seriously, Setsuka please?) Perhaps it was her absence in SoulCalibur V that exacerbated them, but many players are very hopeful for the return of the tonfa-wielder, Talim. There’s actually a good amount of evidence to suggest that she will indeed make it to this Stage of History.

In the newest SoulCalibur VI gameplay footage, surely you’ve noticed a new, nature-themed stage with windswept plains. A Twitter user, iambic_feet, points it out in screenshots here, also bringing up that the song for that stage is called “Following the Wind Trail,” closely related to Talim’s association with wind.

Additionally, Dynasty brings up another big hint in the video below; a mysterious tweet from the game’s producer, Motohiro Okubo. Or rather, not so mysterious once you look at the first letter of each word:

Check out the video below, and if these signs really point to the truth, expect a reveal of Talim soon!

We saw this pitch coming, but Nintendo knocked it right out of the park for Smash fans; with gameplay tweaks alongside a massive roster of every playable Smash fighter from every prior game — including publisher-crossovers like Cloud, Ryu, Sonic, and Solid Snake! — this game looks like it really deserves the “Ultimate” moniker.

SoulCalibur VI producer Okubo talks about incorporating guest characters like Geralt into the game

As E3 2018 has drawn to a close, we got to see one more interview with the SoulCalibur VI producer, Motohiro Okubo. Interviewed by a Bandai Namco employee, Okubo talks about why the game is positioned around the first SoulCalibur in the timeline, and about the intention behind the Reversal Edge mechanic.

The most interesting tidbit perhaps is when Okubo goes into adding guest characters into the game. He mentions CD Projekt RED’s extremely detailed approach to animating Geralt, making sure that all his animations are in-line with The Witcher lore and video game. Everything — from Geralt’s swings to the angles on his elbows and wrists — is drafted with purpose. Some may not realize that Okubo is also the producer behind Tekken 7, so he’s obviously aware of other guest characters like Geese and Noctis who made it into the other Bandai Namco fighter. In another SoulCalibur interview, Okubo mentioned that Geralt is already “on the disc,” and he did not discount the possibility of adding more guest characters (the game will have a season pass).

Rage Esports Street Fighter V All-Star League Day 3 results

The Rage Esports Street Fighter V All-Star League is officially underway, featuring 24 of Japan’s best players in 3v3 team matches. Six team captains were chosen based from the highest-ranking Japanese players on the 2017 Capcom Pro Tour, including Hx.Twitch.CYG BST|Daigo, Echo Fox|Tokido, Fujimura, AW|Nemo, Moke, and Itazan. Captains drafted their teams for the league last week; match play began June 5 and will run until July 28, the weekend before Evo 2018.

The league follows a double round-robin format; each team will play the others twice in a first-to-three set match. During each set the teams select their order and play three matches. The team with two victories will win the set, but each win and loss also counts towards the team’s total round robin score. The three teams with the best records at the end of the both round robins will play each other in the finals on July 28.

The event streams live at 6:00 AM ET/3:00 AM PT/7:00 PM JST at OpenREC.tv. Nicalis’ latest Blade Strangers trailer lets you catch up with the game’s cast of indie characters

Hot on the heels of the announcement of the game’s Japanese release date, Nicalis has followed up with a new video for indie crossover fighter Blade Strangers.

The new video showcases all of the characters from various indie game titles (as well as a few original characters) that are joining Blade Strangers. This is basically a recap of all the individual character trailers that the company has released for the game. Sadly however, the trailer still doesn’t reveal exactly when the game is launching in the West.

Blade Strangers hits PlayStation 4 and Switch on October 30 in Japan, followed by a Western release on PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC sometime in the summer.

Check out some more Dead or Alive 6 details and screenshots from E3 2018

The Dead or Alive series is back with Dead or Alive 6 on the show floor of E3 2018. The new game brings with it some significant changes, including the addition of a traditional meter system meant to power new mechanics.

For those curious about some of the changes to the game, players have begun to try to analyze the bits of footage that we’ve gotten from the show. One of these is Rojikku, who’s uploaded a couple of videos where he breaks down bits and pieces of the game.

The first one breaks down some off screen match footage from YouTube channel VGP. The footage features a couple of matches featuring Jann Lee, including a mirror match. Here, Rojikku makes some observations about some of the new moves, the new crowd-based danger zone, as well as some new strings that Jann Lee may have.

In addition to this, he also breaks down some of the footage from the PlayStation live stream, going over what we saw of the game’s menus and interfaces.

In addition to these, Tyaren over at Free Step Dodge has also captured some screenshots from the live stream, specifically of the character and stage select screens. Of note is how the former now frames the character portraits in the style of old boxing posters.

More DLC characters and updates are still coming to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, according to the producer

Late last month, Bandai Namco Entertainment America hosted a special livestream, to show off the second pair of DLC characters coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ, Fused Zamasu and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegito. However, there was also a special announcement made by Producer Masayuki Hirano, about the future of Bamco’s other Dragon Ball title: Xenoverse 2.

Acknowledging the team’s original promise to support the game for a year with post-launch content and updates has since passed, Hirano noted that they have continued developing the game, complete with releasing additional DLC characters like Dabura, Super Buu (Gohan Absorbed), Jiren The Gray, Ultra Instinct Goku and Fu.

Thanking fans for allowing them to support the game for a year and a half, Hirano promises even more content, DLC characters, and updates will be arriving to the game — in addition to a free update that will address the network connection issues many players have been experiencing while playing online. Skills, moves, and rules will also be adjusted to ensure a much more streamlined online experience across the board for all players.

Even with the release of a more traditional 2D game like FighterZ, (which just had a Nintendo Switch port announced at E3,) Bandai Namco aims to continue supporting both games so that everyone can continue to enjoy the Dragon Ball series of games for a long time to come. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
