Leaked SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy trailer reveals Luong

It’s been a little while since we’ve had a character announcement for SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy, now we have yet another character joining the game — Luong. The sultry Vietnamese fighter was revealed thanks to a leaked trailer that was originally shared on Ruliweb.

The trailer — which has since been pulled — see’s Luong dressing up both in a spy catsuit and a (rather ironic) schoolgirl outfit, while also showing off her moves and customization items. More interesting though is the fact that the trailer indicates that she was to be the 12th character to be announced — there are currently only 10 announced characters so far, so this means that someone else was supposed to have been revealed before her.

As stated above, the trailer has now been pulled. However, a few mirrors exist that can still be viewed here, here, and here.

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy is set to launch on PlayStation 4, and Switch in Japan on September 6, and the West on September 7.

Warner Bros. Games counting down to a new reveal — possibly a new Mortal Kombat?

Warner Bros. Games has just shared a tweet counting down to an impending reveal at 10:00 AM PT on June 7. Now, while there wasn’t anything specific to any game of franchise in the tweet, signs seem to be pointing to this possible being a new Mortal Kombat game.

For those following social media related to Mortal Kombat and NetherRealm Studios, there has been some speculation for a while regarding a new entry in the storied franchise. This is all down to a couple of “clues” that fans have been pointing to. First, WB Games and NRS’s last fighting game, Injustice 2, has already received a “Legendary Edition” — it’s final, complete version of the game with all DLC characters added in. Second, the companies have always revealed their newest fighter the week after E3, once the prior “complete” version has been released.

With all the above taken into consideration, anticipation for a new Mortal Kombat (or a new fighter from NetherRealm in general) is at a fever pitch. Will we finally see the long awaited sequel to Mortal Kombat X, will we see a new fighting IP from NetherRealm, or is this speculation all for nought? We’ll find out when the announcement stream goes live at WB games’ official site!

AVerMedia has revealed a new line of 4K ultra HD capture cards

When it comes to streaming, both at home and at events, one of the companies that many content producers rely on is AVerMedia. Their line of Live Gamer and Live Gamer Portable capture cards are some of the most-used out there.

The company has now announced a new series of capture cards designed to work with 4K, ultra HD resolutions. The first of these is the Live Gamer 4K. This internal, PCIe capture card can capture 4K (2160p) high dynamic range video at 60fps. In addition to this, it can also capture lower resolutions at even higher framerates, up to 240fps at 1080p.

For those who need an external capture card, the company has also revealed the Live Gamer Ultra. This capture card connects to a laptop or computer via USB 3.1 and can capture 4K  high dynamic range video at up to 30fps. Like the Live Gamer 4K, it can also capture higher framerate video at lower resolutions (again, topping at 240fps at 1080p). In addition to this, the card also offers full 4K HDR passthrough at 60fps, and HD 1080p passthrough at 240fps.

Both will come with AVerMedia’s RECentral software that allows for simultaneous streaming to Twitch, YouTube, and Mixer, as well as CyberLink’s PowerDirector 15 4K video editing software. For those interested, both of these cards are set to ship on June 25. The Live Gamer 4K will retail for $299.99, while the Live Gamer Ultra will retail for $249.99.

In the meantime, check out this teaser from AVerMedia:

Send Noctis back to Square Enix with this Tekken 7 Steve Fox punish guide

Steve Fox isn’t known as one of Tekken 7‘s strongest punishment characters. That’s only because this boxer is built differently from the rest of the cast, and giving him a a standard punishment game would probably break him as a character. Instead, Steve can weave around his opponent’s options, making him a proper threat in the hands of those with very good defense.

Because of his unique nature, it’s especially important to know how to properly punish odd characters like Noctis, whose push-out and gimmicks fit the mold of Tekken even less than Steve’s abilities do. Fighters Generation‘s latest punishment tutorial shows off proper punishment and step versus the entire move-list of the Final Fantasy XV protagonist, so if you’re a Steve main, you owe it to yourself to check this out.

Indie flying-fighter Gravity Breakers version 0.3 goes live, adds alien drone grappler Gerzil

The in-development perma-flying PC fighter Gravity Breakers has recently been updated to version 0.3. Along with the several system and balancing changes in this update, this indie sci-fi project has implemented its latest character: the alien drone Gerzil.

Gerzil has previously been seen showcased at the weekly SoCal fighting game competition Wednesday Night Fights, as well as through Gremlin’s Twitch and social media channels.

The developers shared some info on Gerzil’s battle design, and the new elements she brings to the cast:

Gerzil’s fighting style is savage and bloody, revolving around her ripping claws and retractable spikes. She is the first character with a grab-type special move: Monster Clutch. This move is still WIP but the final version will drain life from the opponent like a vampire. From a distance Gerzil fires webs, spikes, and insects.

Grappling archetypes tend to be hearty tanks, but interestingly, it seems Gerzil only gets her additional health through her grappling. This justifies her ability to be a little more mobile and versatile — appropriate for the projectile-centered battlefield of Gravity Breakers.

You can read the full list of balance changes — and purchase the early-access version of the game — through Gremlin_Ent’s site. For more information on the game itself, make sure to visit gravitybreakers.com.

Toshimichi Mori would like to add Nier: Automata’s 2B to BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle

The potential for more fates to cross in Arc System Work’s latest fighting game seems infinite. Toshimichi Mori, the game’s producer and director, has expressed interest in adding even more franchises into BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. One of those franchises seems to be Nier: Automata, a game he likes very much.

Forbes caught up with Mori in an interview post-release of the game (Forbes interviewed Mori two years ago, where he mentioned that he likes RWBY, which facilitated the collaboration with Rooster Teeth). The new interview talks about switching from Unreal Engine 3 to 4, which seems to be more visually-focused.

But RWBY fans will be happy to hear that Mori “would love to” see additional characters from that franchise in BBTAG, particularly Penny and Adam. Mori is conflicted however over developing something that fans want versus realizing his own vision. When asked about what he has been playing lately, he named Nier: Automata, and also said the following:

“Hey, we should release 2B and 9S on BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. Yeah, that would be good. I would want to play that. Should I ask them? Haha.”

Yoko Taro, are you listening?

Take an in-depth look at the history, the community, & the new generation of Street Fighter in this 3-part documentary from Capcom

What more needs to be said that hasn’t already been said about the Street Fighter series? Regardless of what anyone thinks about the current status of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Capcom’s legendary fighting game series has left a huge impact — not just in the fighting game genre but gaming in general, both casually and competitively, on a worldwide scale — for over 30 years. The Street Fighter brand has become even more of a household name in the mainstream, where some random passersby might catch a major tournament being aired on ESPN or TBS at their local bar. Street Fighter and its community are gaining more positive exposure, growth, and acceptance in the general public by the day, and that’s a good thing.

The Street Fighter YouTube channel has uploaded a three-part documentary series covering the history, community growth, and the next generation of new players of this perennial franchise. Footage from past tournaments as well as numerous interviews with pro players, commentators, personalities, and fans are shown here, and inform the viewers about the mark the Street Fighter series has left on them — as well as what the future holds for it. You can watch all three parts below (which total to a run time of about an hour-and-a-half).
