Since we last broke the news on the discovery of the Rotate Cancel glitch in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle, the JJBA:ASB community has been pushing this truly bizarre glitch to its limits. Let’s take a look at some of the ways the community has exploited this brand new tech for a 5-year old game:
Xemasklyr has more than a few rotate cancels to show us. While some characters make better use of it then others, Johnathan’s long legs on his st.C make his particularly useful.
Will Zeppeli used to be held down by somewhat lower-than-average damage. Thanks to Rotate Cancels, this is no longer the case.
Lastly from Xemasklyr, we have Hol Horse’s Gun Loop. Hol Horse already had loops and high damage — Rotate Cancels just help keep things more stable and flashy:
MrMulaflaga shows how you can use even a simple inclusion at the end of juggles for a bit more meter gain and damage with Yoshikage Kira.
Free Meal8WR shows how Wham can intentionally trigger JJBA:ASB’s infinite protection system with Rotate Cancels to go for cheeky mix-ups…
…and how Kakyoin becomes a command grab/high/low mix-up monster, so long as you keep an eye on your meter usage. Shame his damage is still bad, but with tech like this, it probably should be.
Tyadran was one of the original players to show off the power of Rotate Cancels in combos, and he’s got more juggles for several members of the cast here:
Finally, closing us out is GreenPoolBall. By far the most broken-looking implementation of Rotate Cancel appears to the silliness that can occur when combined with Super Jump cancels:
Thanks to everyone that’s submitted Rotate Cancel content over the past few days. Wondering where all this stuff came from, or have an interest in the game itself? Most of the players linked above are from the JoJo:ASB discord, located here.
Very few in the American fighting game community have been around as long as NorCal’s legendary John Choi. Having played over the course of decades, the Korean Inferno has conquered the competition — and is doing likewise as a tournament organizer.
During NorCal Regionals, BornFree sat down with the legend to get some backstory on his time in the FGC. They talked about many things of lore in the community, including the team that went to Japan in Bang the Machine, his double-championship at Evo 2008, and what he thinks of the scene now.
“Game over, pal! Don’t forget to save. Sweet dreams!”
A new character has appeared in the mystery mansion of SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy, and it’s none other than The King of Fighters‘s Shermie!
It’s worth noting that Shermie is the first character to appear in SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy that is not already in TheKing of Fighters XIV. One has to wonder if the fan-favorite orochi grappler will make her way into KOFXIV sometime in the future.
SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy launches September 7th, 2018 for the Nintendo Switch; a PlayStation 4 release is planned as well.
With the freshly-released Season 3.5 balance patch for Street Fighter V: Arcade Editionhitting us like a wake-up Shoryuken (the kind with invincibility) this week, World Warriors all across the globe are scrambling to see what the latest round of alterations for the entire 30-character roster mean for their favorite fighters. We’ve compiled a series of analysis videos, from covering a variety of the cast in these early days.
First off, VesperArcade takes a look at the controversial buffs and quality-of-life improvements to Cammy White — despite the Delta Red member already being considered a top 5 character in the previous version of the game, and how this could seem questionable in comparison to other tenets of Capcom’s patching philosophy with the game.
TheRedGambit provides us with great pre and post-patch breakdowns for Juri Han (clad in her new Lilith Darkstalkers Crossover Costume) as many seemed confused on what the patch’s full implications were for the Poison Spider.
HDJammerz shows us the fruit’s of R. Mika’s wrestling training, as well as an interesting stealth change to her “Steel Chair” V-Trigger II that was left out of the official notes.
Thu Yaj and DeadAceBS analyze the interesting modifications to the Wandering Warrior himself: Ryu.
DeadAceBS also takes a look at everyone’s favorite boxer, Balrog, who received huge buffs to his B3 V-Trigger II.
BGCallisto looks at the improvements to Season 3’s first new challenger, Sakura Kasugano.
Rush G takes a look at the practical buff applications for the fiery Ken Masters, who received great improvements to his Step Kick V-Skill.
BlackPantherN7 looks at the changes for the trio of Menat, Laura Matsuda, and the recently-released Blanka.
Being Vice-President of the Secret Society has its benefits, as changes to the recovery of some normals have allowed Urien to regain his Dangerous Headbutt loops, as demonstrated by Dragon Soul.
Finally, Rainacide looks at what’s different for Shadaloo’s Dictator, M. Bison.
There’s surely going to be more tech and discoveries coming in the weeks and months ahead, but hopefully these overviews will give you a good idea of where most of the cast currently stands, and how you can adapt to or best utilize the changes to your fighters of choice. You can also check out SonicSol’s thoughts on Nash for more.
Welcome to the Rollback: a frame-by-frame look back at our past week’s most notable news — and our favorite SRK articles — from March 30 to April 5, 2018!
ARIKA’s upcoming title is far-removed from its humble April Fool’s gag origin! If you aren’t excited for this game yet, you should be — it keeps looking better and better.
Even though it was April 1st, Capcom wasn’t kidding around when they dropped the bomb that SFVAE was getting a new balance patch… and it’s a doozy. Read the patch notes to find out how heavy the nerf bat hit your own main.
And speaking of DBFZ, work on your defense — and other aspects of your gameplay — with Frabisaur and Tastunical in this — the third of three DBFZ videos!
ELEAGUE is definitely putting a twist on what we expect to see out of our esports this year: it’s SFV, now as a reality show. Shall we watch the rivalries unfold?
Some time back, we reported on the Street Fighter: The Miniatures Game by Jasco Games and Joe “Angy Joe” Vargas that they were hoping to crowdfund; well, the tabletop game has launched their Kickstarter — and it reached its goal of $400,000 in less than 24 hours.
For those who missed our previous coverage, Street Fighter: The Miniatures Game is a tabletop game that lets two to six players duke it out in a custom system designed by Angry Joe. The game allows for both free-for-all and team versus play on boards reminiscent of classic Street Fighter stages. A “Boss Expansion” also exists that lets players get a 3-versus-1 mode as well.
One of the highlights of the game are the highly detailed miniatures representing characters from the series. The figures come pre-painted, and are about 65mm in height – about the same size as a Nintendo Amiibo (as demonstrated on the Kickstarter page). The Core Set includes figures for Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Sagat, Vega, and Zangief while the “Boss Expansion” adds M. Bison, and Akuma. You can see these figures in the video below.
In addition to these, the stretch goals that have been reached include adding Guile as a playable character, Spot UV logos on the boxes, a “Power Ups Mode”, and finally the addition of Blanka. According to the crowdfunding page, this game is going to be offered only as a Kickstarter exclusive, with no retail release planned at this time.
Guile is ready to fight his way through some Forgotten Worlds in his upcoming Crossover Costume.
Following his comrade-in-arms Nash on the mission to obtain a classic Capcom-themed Crossover Costume for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Guile will soon be able to change his uniform to the “Nameless Super Soldier”, one of the unnamed protagonists in Capcom’s side-scrolling arcade shooter Forgotten Worlds, from back in 1988.
You know the drill: you have to complete four challenges to unlock the costume, and each attempt will cost you 2500 FM. The first challenge will deploy on April 12th.
In addition to a new Crossover Costume, it’s high time we saw some more Golden Shadaloo Soldiers to offer up some Fight Money and EXP (especially after all those Monster Hunter costumes!). A new batch of three challenges is on the way.
As usual, the challenge dates may change, so keep your eyes peeled and aimed at Shoryuken and Capcom-Unity for updates.
Injustice 2 is known for its swag combos, and this combo video is no exception. In fact, it advertises itself as such in its title!
As one of the more-recent DLC characters, we haven’t seen too much in the way of exploration with Enchantress since her release. This should change with the tournament season ramping up. However, this combo video shows off a bit of the impractical with her, which in turn shows off her capabilities. With excellent usage of her avatars stemming from her Trait, as well as some amazing inclusions of stage interactables, you’ll see some soul-stealing combos.
Prepare for trouble! And make it double! When evil meets even more evil, you know exactly how grimy a combo video is going to be. With this Blazblue: Central Fiction combo video, you know full well before watching that nothing but sinister combos are heading your way.
Watch as Hazama leads off with crazy combos, only for bad to get worse with Terumi tearing up the Wheel of Fate. With great spacing of meter usage, including several of instances of multiple distortion drives in one combo, you may feel a little dirty after this one.
