Which Champion will reign supreme at the Summit of Power?

All week, esports production company Beyond The Summit has been teasing the reveal of eight of the most powerful Dragon Ball FighterZ players in the universe for their upcoming DBFZ Summit of Power event in June.

Already known for their Super Smash Bros. events — as well as work outside the fighting game community with DOTA and CS:GO — Beyond The Summit is looking to dive headfirst into the action-packed 3v3 world of Dragon Ball FighterZ. Taking place June 8-10 in Los Angeles, California, 16 warriors with absolutely staggering power levels will compete for the lion’s share of a $10,000 prize. So far the first four invited players are:

• Echo Fox|Sonic Fox
• CO|GO1
• CO|Dogura
• PG|Nakkiel

The remaining four will be announced at a later date.

In addition, there will be a trio of offline Qualifiers for an invitation to this battle of gods. For the East Coast, there will be an auto-qualifier spot on the line at Next Level Battle Circuit on Wednesday, April 11th, while the West Coast’s finest will be waging war at Wednesday Night Fights that same evening. There will also be a third auto-qualifier spot up for grabs at Combo Breaker on May 25-27 in Chicago, Illinois.

If there’s one character that Capcom seems to love making costumes for, it’s Chun-Li. Now, as part of their Street Fighter V and Monster Hunter: World collaboration, they’re releasing yet another costume for the first lady of fighting games… for Monster Hunter: World.

Yes, not even Capcom’s best-selling single release of all time can escape having Chun-Li costumes.

The costume was revealed as part of the April DLC trailer for Monster Hunter: World, and the outfit is specifically for the Handler NPC. The Chun-Li Handler will be available on April 27 for ¥300, which should translate to $2.99 in the West.

Following the Ryu cosplay armor for the player characters, this is the second Street Fighter V item released for Monster Hunter: World. In addition to these, a Sakura cosplay armor for player characters is set to be made available sometime in the future.

As we’ve previously reported, the upcoming crossover tag team title, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, will be seeing the much-anticipated return of the English dub, which was surprisingly absent from Central Fiction. While the Easter weekend’s Anime Ascension marked the public debut of the dual-audio build, it was also played during this week’s episode of ArcLive, with the voice of Noel Vermillion and Nu-13, Christina Vee, giving us a chance to sample even more unique team-specific interactions.

Pssych has graciously compiled another round of clips, featuring a variety of both iconic and surprising duos. Highlights include the expected casual snarkiness between the Under Night In-Birth trio of Hyde Kido, Linne, and Waldstein, Ruby Rose burning Hyde over the prospect of showing him up in battle, Persona 4 Arena‘s Investigation Team reaffirming their strong bonds, Jin Kisaragi remaining cold to Noel Vermillion, Makoto Nanaya firing up Gordeau with her spunkiness, Weiss Schnee and Yukiko Amagi preparing to unleash a grand dance of ice and fire, and my personal favorite: Azrael threatening Hazama not to impede his “feasting!”

Additionally, the opening theme to Persona 4 Golden, “Shadow World,” and the Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late[st] console opening theme, “Unknown Actors” have been confirmed as franchise-specific Versus Themes, should the four series reps ever meet in battle. BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will be released for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Steam on Thursday, May 31st in Japan, before dropping on the same platforms in North America on Tuesday, June 5th. A European release on PS4 and Switch has been scheduled for sometime this summer.

Those who love a franchise can simultaneously be its biggest critics. It’s not always out of malice, though — but out of passion for the game. In what certainly turned out to be a momentous video, Maximilian — who professes his love for Capcom’s Versus games — is laying it all out in his latest: “What Happened? MVCI: A Case Study Of What Not To Do”, regarding Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.

With a heavy heart, Maximilian opens by saying that the launches of Street Fighter V and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite made him lose a lot of faith in Capcom. He launches into describing MvC:I’s timeline, which started with a demo at PlayStation Experience in 2016, as well as a gameplay trailer that looked a little concerning. “I think they’re going to fix it later,” Maximilian retells what many fighting game players thought upon seeing it. Graphics, sadly, dragged down the game a lot, spawning discussions about Chun-Li’s face, among others. In his opinion, the marketing overall focused on the Story Mode — which just wasn’t the strongest point of the game — and the slim initial offering of characters wasn’t a strong incentive for the series’ veterans.

Maxmilian then ventures into the nitty-gritty: talking about some mechanics and features in the game that didn’t mesh well. “I think it’s done. I don’t think Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is going to get any future updates.” What’s your opinion? Is the game finished, or is there still a chance for redemption?
