Dragon Ball FighterZ character roundup: What we’ve seen so far for Goku Black

Our own Tournament of Power still has a lot of time left! Keep practicing!

We’ve seen a lot of tech videos for Dragon Ball FighterZ come through our tipline, covering everything from team-building strategy, fundamental game mechanics, and combo after combo after combo, from throughout the game’s cast! Since the roundups were put together based on what came in when, not sorted by character, we’re re-compiling them by fighter to make it easier to find something for your individual team members.

This time, let’s look at what we’ve seen so far for Goku Black!

Goku Black has been one of our most submitted-for characters in our roundups, be it on point or as an assist. Here’s SitverGold‘s take on Vegeta/Goku Black.

CDV|WhiteBl4ck shows off the giant damage of Goku Black.

HapkidoRed shared quite a few Goku Black combos with us:

HapkidoRed also shows off the absurd mix-up potential of Goku Black’s teleport:

sikshot gaming has an exploration on how to punish Goku Black:

Ian Brock focuses on a team of three Gokus, demonstrating a touch of death combo with Super Saiyan Blue Goku on point.

GLHFtv‘s breakdown of Goku Black is both useful for new players and a good primer for those trying to fight against the pink-haired antagonist.

Peter Souvannarath shows off how easy it is to get several Goku Black supers into one combo.

datHazy shows off some DHC potential with Goku Black & Adult Gohan.

Persona Entertainment brings their own combo video to the list with their Goku Black video:

As always, thanks to all content creators out there, and everyone that sent in tip! Keep an eye on Shoryuken for future DBFZ roundups!

Dragon Ball FighterZ character roundup: What we’ve seen so far for Tien

rooflemonger found the lack of scaling on Chiaotzu’s super — that should have been a hint that a Tien combo video wasn’t far off!

rooflemonger’s also prepared a tips and tricks video for Tien:

TheSchmogi shows what the team of Trunks, Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta, and Tien can pull off.

Persona Entertainment continues to showcase DBFZ combos, this time featuring Tien!

Smash-style fan game “Mega Man Arena” lets you duke it out as Mega Man and the Robot Masters

When it was announced some years back, one of the draws of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U on Wii U (and 3DS) was the ability to play as Capcom’s Mega Man. For some smashers however, that wasn’t enough. Enter Jeff “KishSquared” Kish, a Cisco engineer and Super Smash Bros. enthusiast who took the concept and expanded it with his own Smash-style Mega Man fan game: Mega Man Arena.

The premise of Mega Man Arena is as simple as it comes: take Mega Man and a slew of classic Robot Masters from Mega Man 2 and put them in a Super Smash Bros. game. The game itself sticks closer to the Mega Man side of things — not only through its 8-bit style graphics, but also through its gameplay, focusing on draining an opponents lifebar instead of trying to blast them off the stage.

In addition to this, Mega Man Arena also features a “Boss Mode” which has players taking Mega Man and the Robot Masters out against classic Dr. Wily stage bosses from the series.

Mega Man Arena is available to download for free over on its official website. Now, being a fan-made game, this does run the risk of getting shut down… However, Capcom has historically been very lenient with fan games, having actually featured one on their official Capcom-Unity blog, and even promoting another as an official game for the series’ anniversary.

Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 “Re-Finement” patch is now live globally for console users

Though we knew that the latest update for Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 would be live in Japan today (on March 1st), the company kept quiet about the US (and other regions) — until yesterday. This week’s ArcLive — the company’s now-regular Twitch show — brought special guests Tasty Steve, Sajam, and Mike Engler from Aksys Games. They shared some exciting patch notes with the Western community.

The patch for the PlayStation 3 and 4 versions of the game already has gone live, so eager users were trying it out last night. There is no concrete date for the Steam version update (often preferred, due to smoother online connections). The patch rebalances the game and adds some new tools to certain characters. During the stream, Tasty Steve and Sajam went over the REV 2 patch notes and tried out certain characters in Training Mode. They also did a couple of Versus Mode matches.

Other than that, the episode featured some BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle matches, they played Damascus Gear Operation Tokyo for the Nintendo Switch, and discussed the fighting game community (the footage was separated into episodes).

Dragon Ball FighterZ character roundup: What we’ve seen so far for Frieza

Our own Tournament of Power still has a lot of time left! Keep practicing!

We’ve seen a lot of tech videos for Dragon Ball FighterZ come through our tipline, covering everything from team-building strategy, fundamental game mechanics, and combo after combo after combo, from throughout the game’s cast! Since the roundups were put together based on what came in when, not sorted by character, we’re re-compiling them by fighter to make it easier to find something for your individual team members.

This time, let’s look at what we’ve seen so far for Frieza!

TeaMandem‘s Frieza looks poised to take over the Universe!

desk stages his own DBZ story with his Trunks vs. Frieza combo video. So does this officially count as fan-fiction?

As usual, Clayton “Final Showdown” Chapman has some flashy and powerful combos to show off. Check out the Frieza fireball loops!

Here’s an absurdly powerful juggle loop for Golden Frieza from Victor Thammavong.

Brian Kasugano has an extensive combo video featuring stuff for SSJ Vegeta, Krillin, Frieza, Ginyu, SSGSS Goku, and Piccolo.

AlukardNY has shared a video demonstrating some advanced combos for Frieza.

Persona Entertainment shows off a touch-of-death by way of Golden Frieza.

Moving beyond combos, GLHFtv breaks down Frieza’s neutral and moveset.

Lythero shows off big damage with his Android 16/Vegeta/Frieza team. Pretty incredible that 16 can break 5K without spending super meter!

Rest in peace, Daniel “ONBS” Jimenez; Charity tournament to celebrate the memory of this Pokkén community member

The Texas Pokkén Tournament community recently lost one of its brightest stars, Daniel “ONBS” Jimenez, to suicide. ONBS was a young and skilled Braixen/Scizor player, who notably placed 13th in the incredibly-stacked last chance qualifier at Pokkén Worlds 2017. He out-played and out-paced 117 other players at the LCQ, including many international talents from Japan and Europe.

As someone that has personally met and played against ONBS, I can attest to the incredible intelligence and skill he possessed. Our scene, and every scene and community that could have had him, is weaker now from his absence.

To celebrate the life and memory of ONBS, the TX scene will be holding a free-to-enter charity tournament and stream at the Alamo Battlegrounds — home of the TX Pokkén community’s monthly. All proceeds and donations from tthe event will go towards Garland Pawsibilities, a non-profit animal shelter, where ONBS volunteered as a dog walker. If you would like to donate, please do so here through this link: http://www.garlandpawsibilities.org/Garland_Paws_Donations.html

We wish strength to the Jimenez family through these trying times. The Pokkén community loves you, and we will help each other through this.

The National Suicide Prevention hotline is 1-800-273-8255. If someone you know or love is thinking about suicide, please talk to them.

The GunFrame app is now GunFrameZ, and it includes Dragon Ball FighterZ frame data

Anyone who’s serious about fighting games needs to hit the books — or rather, get a good grasp on frame data, which is essential to understanding the structure of any character. Thankfully, you don’t have to carry a library around, as there’s an app for that.

We’ve previously covered GunFrame, which added BlazBlue: Central Fiction frame data last year. The latest update just went live, appropriately changing the app’s name to GunFrameZ and including some Dragon Ball FighterZ frame data. As of now, the frame data is fairly preliminary; it mostly shows startup of moves and their frame advantages or disadvantages. You can also see characters’ health and jump start values.

The iOS version update is coming next week, according to the developer, AnBi. The app also now notes that certain frame data for some games is outdated: Under Night In-Birth, Injustice 2, and BlazBlue: Central Fiction. Including frame data for DBFZ has been made possible by resources from asciux, MTLxSpider, and KuroganeHammer.

Download the app via Google Play or the iTunes Store.

TEKKEN TRAINING: Electric Wind God Vids — Attack reversals, parries, and sabakis

SRK’s Electric Wind God Vids is back with another episode! Today, we’re talking about how to defeat the counters of Tekken 7.

A lot of new players struggle with beating counter abuse, and who can blame them? There’s a lot of different types in the game, and lots of exceptions to the “rules” that surround how they work. Still, learning the basics of counters goes a long way towards neutralizing them.

For more TEKKEN TRAINING, be sure to subscribe to ShoryukenTube! And if you have any specific questions about Tekken gameplay you’d like covered in a future video, let us know in the comments!
