Street Fighter V roundup: Combos, okizeme, Story mode, and trials for Blanka!

The Warrior of the Amazon has arrived!

Blanka tore his way into Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition yesterday as the second DLC fighter in Season 3. Ready to get rollin’ and trollin’ with this beast?

ELEAGUE are hosting their own Tekken 7 invitational on March 3rd

First Street Fighter V, then Injustice 2 and now Tekken 7 — it seems that ELEAGUE is determined to keep its hand in the FGC with its own invitational events. Hosted at Turner Studios in Atlanta, Georgia on March 3rd, Tekken Team Takedown will see some of the world’s best Tekken 7 players battling it out in a special televised tournament. ELEAGUE have yet to announce the players or the format for this invitational but it looks to be a one-day event, rather than a larger series as was the case with Street Fighter V and Injustice 2.

If you want to attend, tickets are available for free over on the ELEAGUE website. Tickets are limited, with the first 200 applicants being guaranteed entry. Based on the name “Tekken Team Takedown”, the event could have a draft format, with select team captains picking players from the pool of invited participants to face off in a larger bracket. Expect more details on the invited players, tournament format and stream details in the near future.

Rising Up: Blanka bread-and-butter combo guide — Punishes, confirm combos, juggles, & more

The feral World Warrior Blanka has just made his playable debut in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. Like most SFV characters, his moveset has been somewhat streamlined, and he’s a bit more traditional (and less reliant on tricks and gimmicks) than he has been in previous games. I’ve put together this guide of his most essential combo routes so that players can quickly learn the basics and start developing their neutral game. Here are your best bread-and-butter combos that I’ve found for every common scenario. This video features anti-airs, punishes, confirms, counter-hit combos, crush counter combos, juggles, and more.

This Blanka bread-and-butter video is not the full Blanka tutorial I’m working on, but rather simply a guide to his basic optimal combo routes. The combos are all my own findings, alongside a few things I’ve observed from other players. While I’m certain that most of the combos are extremely optimal, I wouldn’t be surprised if there are small improvements that can be made to his V-Trigger routes, especially considering ease of execution and final positioning. Thus, I wholeheartedly encourage anyone watching to point out further damage improvements in the comments, for both me and the other players, so that I can amend them into the final video when I release it.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is getting the Orbonne Monastery stage this March

Aside from additional characters, it seems that Square Enix will be updating Dissidia Final Fantasy NT with new stages as well. The company has announced that the game is getting a new stage, the Orbonne Monastery, in an update this March.

The Orbonne Monastery hails from 1997’s highly-acclaimed turn based strategy spin-off Final Fantasy Tactics. Specifically, it’s where the game’s introductory battle takes place. The Dissidia Final Fantasy NT version faithfully recreates that stage, as the trailer below demonstrates.

As for the arcade version: that’ll be getting the Orbonne Monastery earlier, as part of its February 22nd update.

New visuals surface for upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC characters Bardock and Broly

The fan-favorite film fighters battle for future and frenzy.

The Dragon Ball FighterZ Japanese website now has new images for Bardock and Broly, the first DLC characters for the title. The two characters will be the first released in the Dragon Ball FighterZ “FighterZ Pass” which includes eight characters in total, along with unique stamps, lobby avatars, and alternative colors.

Not much is known about the characters’ movesets or abilities, but their ultimate attacks have been confirmed. Bardock transforms into a Super Saiyan and unleashes a flurry of physical attacks with his “Revenger Assault” and Broly’s signature move, “Gigantic Meteor,” creates a devastating energy blast worthy of its name.

According to ShonenGamez, next month’s issue of V-Jump will give us a release date for the two iconic fighters. Until then, take a closer look at the characters in the image galleries below!

Watch SoCal’s best players throw down in Super Street Fighter II Turbo at Rewind II

Southern California has been one of the strongest scenes for Super Street Fighter II Turbo in North America for a long time, and it shows in every tournament they hold. Rewind II — a retro tournament held at Esports Arena in Santa Ana, CA — is no exception to this.
