Dissidia Final Fantasy NT has got Cup Noodles DLC

Yes, you have read that right. Continuing an odd partnership that started in Final Fantasy XV, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT has got a special Noctis costume which can only be acquired by buying limited edition packs of Nissin’s Cup Noodles.

The costume in question is Noctis’ Royal Raiment — a sharp black suit that was itself pre-order DLC for Final Fantasy XV. To acquire this costume, players need to buy one of the Dissidia-branded Cup Noodles, take a picture of their receipt and text it to a special Cup Noodles promo number. Should the receipt be read correctly, you’ll be sent a text back with your download code for the Royal Raiment DLC.

It’s certainly a novel way of locking off costumes, but it’s no different to Street Fighter V‘s Red Bull costumes. At least Cup Noodles are marginally better for you than a can of Red Bull. For all the details on this promotion, head on over to Nissin’s Dissidia website.

Cloud805 vs. SonicFox: Two of the best in Marvel vs.Capcom: Infinite square off in a FT10 set at KIT 2018

Kumite In Tennessee 2018 took place last weekend and was host to several “Ultra Fight Night” exhibitions between top players for three titles which were Street Fighter V, Injustice 2, and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, streamed by Panda X Gaming. While the two former exhibitions were first-to-seven, the latter set between the Battle of the Stones champion FORT|Cloud805 and the Evo 2015-2016 Mortal Kombat X champion Echo Fox|SonicFox was a first-to-10 affair, and was an amazing treat to watch if you’re an MvC fan.

The full set below clocks in at almost 50 minutes so it’s somewhat lengthy, but it’s definitely worth the watch. With Cloud805’s explosive team play of Dante, Zero, and the Soul Stone up against SonicFox’s now-infamous setplay with Jedah, Rocket Raccon, and the Space Stone, there’s no shortage of exciting back-and-forth action between these two top contenders.

Baiken master Shinjin publishes his first Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 combo movie

It’s high time the famous Swedish Baiken published his combo movie. This is definitely a big moment for any Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 Baiken main, but it’s also a treat for those who main other characters or those who don’t partake in Guilty Gear as much.

Set to a fitting rock theme, Shinjin shows off some very practical punishes, which is Baiken’s speciality, after all. But what’s more, he shows some optimized combos that decimate the opponent’s life bar as long as they are close enough to the corner for her damaging Dust loops. Midscreen, Shinjin shows some special juggles with the chain and a follow-up, Tetsuzansen. What’s really informative though is the corner throw section which teaches various Burst-baiting and Burst-safe spots, making Bursting unadvisable in those moments, because it would net a punishing, damaging combo. The rest is a visual treat, as it includes some stylish set-ups, like with Faust’s black hole item.

Capcom showcases every V-Trigger II in Street Fighter: V Arcade Edition

The wait is almost over, yet still excruciating for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. To further add anticipation to our wait, Capcom UK community manager Matt “TheStreetWriter” Edwards posted a video showcasing every single V-Trigger II of the existing cast.

Not only does the video explain what the various new V-Triggers do — something which had already been done in their blog post — but it also gives visual examples of the various followups and possible setups you can do after each V-Trigger. This should add some fuel to the theory fighter fire for the next few days.

Core-A Gaming explains the discrepancies between player sides in this video

Have you ever played an online match and cringed to see yourself on the 2-player side? So do top players, especially Tekken players — who evoke a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors in order to choose sides.

Gerald from Core-A Gaming decided to discuss the differences between sides. While execution can be a factor on both sides in various games, none have it worse than 3D game players, especially in Tekken, as sidesteps are also reversed when on the right-hand side instead of the left-hand side. He also discusses what players can do to mitigate their side problems.

We are only a few days away from Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, and now it’s time to look back at some of the strangest and funniest things that have happened in Season 2 of the game. When this video starts off with an Alex full parry that warrants this response from BornFree, you know it’s going to be good.

From weird hitbox interactions — including Smug landing behind a Birdie, only for Birdie to reappear in front of him — to Daigo teabagging Justin Wong, this video leaves one alternating between laughing hysterically and shaking one’s head.

Leffen and Armada battle in this high-tension Grand Finals at Valhalla 2018

Any time that Leffen and Armada play each other in Super Smash Bros. Melee these days, we expect to see a lot of fireworks. The two Swedish players have a long history against each other, and as such we see a lot of high-level mind games that you don’t often observe in other matches of the game.

They have recently been trading back and forth, and with Leffen coming out of Losers Bracket at Valhalla 2018 in Denmark, we are treated to an amazing display of clutch factor in this Grand Finals set. Missed the action? Thankfully, there is a replay for our enjoyment now.

Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 will receive a balance patch, details to follow

Last night’s Arc System Works Fighting Game Awards 2017 show was eventful in a few ways. Not only did we get to see some top notch Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 and BlazBlue: Central Fiction action, but we heard a few excitement announcements.

While unfortunately it’s not a new character reveal, we now know that every version of REV 2 will receive a balance patch that will cover every character. There are no details about it at this time, such as of the gravity of changes or the timing. As Evo Japan is coming up, we may hear more information about it there and whether the company wants to add more DLC to REV 2.

ASW has also made an announcement regarding the BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle release date and DLC.

Come kick it with Hwoarang in this Tekken 7 combo video

YouTuber TheMystyGamer’s latest Tekken 7 combo video puts the spotlight on the FGC’s beloved Tae Kwon Do dude, Hwoarang. Though he has a history of being called a “cheap” character by some, the execution of some of Hwoarang’s high-damage combos can get pretty technical, especially if you haven’t learned to navigate all of his movelist-altering stances.

Technical or not, It’s definitely more entertaining to watch flashy, heavily kick-clad combos be executed on bots than to actually be on the receiving end of them in a match. Check out the combo video below to watch TheMystyGamer kick it with Hwoarang in Tekken 7.

YouTuber Ra3bones continues his The King of Fighters XIV beginner breakdown series with the Ikari Warrior known as Whip. Staying true to her code name, Whip’s trusty weapon of choice gives her attacks superior range advantages that make it easy for her to regulate the spacing of a match. Still, her use of a weapon doesn’t make picking her up any easier, and there is actually quite a bit to break down.
