Wild, impractical combos are on display in the latest King of Fighters XIV combo video by Combonauts

King of Fighters XIV combo makers COMBONAUTS are known purveyors of the impractical. Following up their series of 100% combos with the whole cast, COMBONAUTS makes their grand return with goofy mid-combo projectile parries, unlikely anti-air scenarios, and more.

You’ll almost definitely find more optimal uses of meter then these combos, but will you find a cooler way to finish your opponent? Maybe not. This wild creativity is what COMBONAUTS specializes in, so if you like what you see, be sure to check out their channel for more great KOF content.

Allegiance signs Gustavo “801 Strider” Romero to their fighting game division

Ahead of Capcom Cup next month, Team Allegiance are entering the Street Fighter scene by signing top US Laura player, Gustavo “801 Strider” Romero. Strider just made it into Capcom Cup following his performance at Canada Cup, earning him a chance to show the strength of Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu on the big stage.

This will be Strider’s second Capcom Cup appearance; he made it into the final 32 for Capcom Cup 2015 with the grappling Frenchman Abel. Hopefully Laura’s electrifying offense will see Strider making it further into the bracket. He also has the bonus of currently being the only Laura at Capcom Cup 2017 — unless Idom or Wolfkrone make it through via the Last Chance Qualifier.

Fun fact about the Allegiance team, all of its three FGC members (Strider, Evo 2017 and ELEAGUE champion Dragon and Canada’s best Captain Falcon None) play characters who have electric/lightning-based attacks. Lighting apparently strikes thrice for Team Allegiance.

Get a visual before and after demonstration of all of the Injustice 2 patch 1.12 changes, courtesy of Noble|Raptor

NetherRealm Studios dropped the latest update, patch 1.12, for Injustice 2 earlier this month. While the last few monthly patches primarily focused on bug fixes, Gear adjustments and the addition of Legendary Multiverses and Fighter Pack 2 DLC characters, this latest patch served as the game’s second balance update, bringing with a host of changes to a variety of cast members.

Though NRS provided minor demonstrations and explanations of some of the more pertinent changes on their semi-annual Watchtower Livestream, Noble|Raptor has taken it upon himself to create a full “Before & After” video showing off every single notable alteration to the game between version 1.11 and 1.12.  This is an undeniable must-watch if you’re an avid Injustice 2 player, or if you’re just curious about what some of their wording means on specific bullet points in the notes.

Let us know if you found this dose of visual aid helpful, and what your thoughts are on the current state of Injustice 2‘s balance in the comments section below.

“Two Minute Tutorials” teaches you how to learn from your Street Fighter V replays

When grinding out hours of matches online, it’s easy to lose sight of small mistakes made in each individual match. While going back and watching our worst moments doesn’t have the same thrill as playing the game itself, the extra effort might help you identify leaks in your game you didn’t know you had.

That’s the topic of PugilistPenguin‘s latest “Two-Minute Tutorials”, his excellent self-improvement series for Street Fighter V. Whether it’s fake pressure you were unaware you were falling for or punishment opportunities you missed, there’s always a way for an analytical player to improve if they put the work into it.

VesperArcade and BushinStyle sits down to discuss their thoughts on Zeku after one month of play

We have had Zeku for one month in Street Fighter V, and while we have seen players trying out the hybrid character, no one has really talked a lot about him since. VesperArcade sat down with former Guy main BushinStyle — who has since picked up the character — to do just that.

In it they discuss what they feel like are his strengths and shortcomings — most notably dissecting his normals and his difficulties escaping the corner as Old Zeku. They also explore some of his worst matchups, and outline some of the things they wish Capcom would change in the character in Season 3.

Gundam Versus shows off trailers for the Zaku I Commander Type and Raider Gundam

Bandai Namco has been doing a bang up job of adding new mobile suits as DLC to Gundam Versus every month. This continues this month as both the MS-05S Zaku I Commander Type and GAT-X370 Raider Gundam will be coming to the game in Japan at the end of this month.

To show off what these mobile suits can do, Bandai Namco has released a couple of new trailers — one for each of the new suits.

The MS-05S Zaku I Commander Type is, as its name implies, the command variant of the Zaku I — the predecessor to the series’ iconic mook unit, the Zaku II. Gerhart Schmitzer who appeared as the leader of the Midnight Fenrir Corps in the PlayStation 2 game Mobile Suit Gundam: Zeonic Front.

Piloted by Clotho Buer, the GAT-X370 Raider Gundam is one of the second generation G-Project mobile suits from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. Like the Aegis Gundam, it features the ability to transform, in this case, to a bird like mobile armor mode.

Both suits will be available for download Gundam Versus in Japan for ¥602 each (plus tax) on November 28.

HurtboxTV’s latest combo video shows off Dark Resurrection style combos for Tekken 7

In a time before “Bound” and “Screw Attacks”, all you had in the Tekken universe was your combo starter and your execution. You’ve got the launch — what do you do with it?

The days of shorter combo states may (potentially) be long gone for Tekken, but they’ll never be forgotten. (Let’s ignore Tekken Revolution for a moment... please.) HurtboxTV‘s latest Tekken 7 combo video attempts to show some classic Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection style combos in Tekken 7‘s engine. How does seeing this combo style again make you feel? Would you play a new Tekken if it made you work much harder for damage?

Are guest characters good or problematic? Maximilian discusses the question

Guest characters seem to be in vogue again, as we’re seeing more and more crossover characters in many fighting games. We’ve recently seen the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Sub Zero step into Injustice 2. More recently, the most surprising reveal has been Final Fantasy XV‘s Noctis joining Tekken 7.

This the topic Maximilian Dood is tackling in his latest video. He poses the question of whether guest characters cause more harm or good for a fighting game. For instance, a con of having a guest character is taking up time and resources for a side character rather than using it for someone from the franchise that fans of the specific title might be waiting on. In Maximilian’s opinion, Noctis not only doesn’t belong in Tekken 7, but he also delays other fan-favorites that haven’t made it to the game yet.

On the other hand, they can bring a lot of hype as well; everyone remembers the Soul Calibur II guest characters, Heihachi, Spawn, and Link. We’ve also often Akuma step into other games, not to mention the fact that X-Men vs. Street Fighter is entirely built on a guest character battle. There are countless other examples.

What’s your opinion? Talk about it in the comments below and mention your favorite guest characters.

How to fight Chipp: video guides from a Guilty Gear pro BjornSonOfBear

Chipp has been a fairly strong character in the right hands; though he does lose pretty easily, his movement and mix-up options are so robust, the untrained eye loses to him very easily. His Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 iteration, in particular, gained so many options from a wall cling mechanic. A good Chipp player can easily overwhelm someone who doesn’t know what to do.

That’s why it’s so valuable that Chipp pro player, Xcel|BjornSonOfBear, has put out a lot of content tackling various aspects of the character: from Bursting appropriately to dealing with certain mix-ups and special moves.

The first video, “Dealing with rekkas 101,” talks about how to deal with Chipp’s series of special attacks. The clip shows what kind of punishes are possible after blocking certain follow-ups, also depending on successful Instant Block. Check out the video on YouTube for a detailed explanation in the description.

The next one covers one of Chipp’s Overdrives. “Dealing with Ryuuyanagi” shows this dangerous mix-up that starts with a left-right side, but then has many reset and follow-up opportunities. It definitely helps to have a Dragon Punch move! Refer to the description for more details.

“But he can teleport!”

In “Dealing with teleports,” Bears covers common options in pressure with teleports. Using certain option selects, like a throw one, can help defend against inevitable cross-ups from Chipp. The YouTube description explains it in more detail.

This one is definitely a must-see. Chipp has plenty of hard-to-react corner options with his wall cling. He can hit from behind, or do several options from the front: an overhead, low, or throw. The later part of the video shows Chipp defensively clinging to the wall to mount a comeback. Make sure to read the YouTube description of “Dealing with High Wall Cling 101” for more instruction.

These are some of the highlights, but there are more videos, like “Bursting vs. Chipp” and “Dealing with Alpha Blade.”

If you’re more of a Twitter person, you can see the videos compiled in a Moment: The Basics of Fighting Chipp.
