Only ten of these have been made, for ten of the FGC’s finest.
Red Bull Esports has been busy making sure that the 30th Anniversary of Street Fighter is a year to remember. In addition to special events at Red Bull Battle Grounds in Boston and special edition cans of Red Bull for Street Fighter fans to enjoy, they’s also sent out some slightly mysterious and very impressive commemorative gift packages to prominent members of the FGC — along with a bit of help from UDON and Razer. Behold: The World Warrior Luggage.
This big vintage suitcase is marked on the outside with custom stickers — that are all Street Fighter-related character gags or references — and a “Red Bull Line” luggage tag. The case itself is locked with a combination lock that needs a four-digit code to open (hint: what year were both Red Bull and Street Fighter created…?).
When the suitcase is opened, the startup screen song from Street Fighter II plays. Inside, the classic stage-select map from the game can be seen — with the addition of Austria’s Red Bull headquarters. It includes one of each of the five aforementioned SFV character cans (going into wide release in November), and when each can is lifted out, sound effects related to that fighter can be heard. There’s lots of other details under the lid, and a pocket that contains a customized World Warrior Passport, with artwork, stickers, and more.
The central feature of the luggage is a Razer Panthera with custom Street Fighter 30th Anniversary artwork from UDON. The SFV characters on the panel art seem to have unusual outfit colors…
You can get another look at the art thanks to LAYERS FGC on Twitter. To finish it all off, under the fight stick there is a limited-edition art print by Ben Marra, featuring the original SFII playable roster, and including a certificate of authenticity.
This ultra rare gift package has been sent to only ten people: Yoshinori Ono, Daigo Umehara, Snake Eyez, Bonchan, Luffy, Alex Valle, Alex Jebailey, Maximilian, Mark Julio, and Carolyn Dao. Certainly a spectacular way to thank some of the hardest-working folks in the FGC! Meanwhile: the rest of us can only look on, and seethe with envy.
Time is running out for Street Fighter V players to collect CPT points. Canada Cup 2017 is the very last Premier open-bracket tournament on the Capcom Pro Tour, and after its points are awarded this weekend, many top-level players will no longer be in the running to qualify.
With 31 of the top 40 CPT-ranked players attending Canada Cup, there’s a lot of ways for players currently in the top 32 to have their Capcom Cup dreams crushed at the last minute. Check out Brian_F’s video to see how we got to this point, and what these pros need to do to mathematically survive this volatile weekend.
Earth Federation, OZ, ZAFT, Celestial Being, Tekkadan… Choose your allegiance and prepare for battle.
Gundam Versus has a massive roster of mobile suits that you can take into its team-based arena battles. Bandai Namco fired out a series of feature trailers — running both before and after the game’s release — to introduce us to the considerable selection of mobile suits and pilots included in the base game (even more are available as DLC). Check them out below!

Is Skynet set to be the Evo 2018 champion? It doesn’t seem likely, given the human aspects of playing fighting games, but one group — Gyroscope Software — is looking into what it would take to program a bot to play at the highest levels of Street Fighter.
In this technical article from Medium.com, they discuss the process they went through to develop the bot and teach it how to play the game. While it has yet to take on any true world warriors, the challenge is open for players to test their mettle against the bot in Street Fighter II Turbo.
With the new DLC characters having just hit Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite last week, a number of folks have been doing their best to create content for them. One of the most prolific players is Raynexpress, who has been taking his time exploring what Black Panther can do. He’s been constantly updating his Twitter account with a number of tech videos for the King of Wakanda, helping lay the groundwork for how he should be played at high levels.
In particular, Raynexpress has been focusing on the team of Black Panther and Doctor Strange, doing his best to develop combos and set play for the team, as you can see in the videos below:
Panther/Strange, 7k combo, 1 bar. Found a way to get his highest dmg super while HSD is high – tag attack! #MvCitechpic.twitter.com/Z67h1e1o5c
Don’t think you can get away from the Electric Wind God Fist just by switching away from Tekken 7. Hit a frame-perfect Pikachu 6Y and you get the tiniest version of the Mishima clan’s defining launcher. Pikachu’s version has all the positive attributes of EWGF (+4 on block, safe launch, jab speed), but also has a quality that would be broken were it transported over to Tekken: it’s a mid.
And that’s just one of the reasons why Pikachu’s damage output off MillerTime‘s optimal combos is fantastic. Pikachu is strangely underrepresented in the Pokkén community, despite a versatile moveset, fast Synergy gauge and big damage. If you wanted a place to start with this undeniably strong character, you can’t go wrong with these high-damage optimals.
With a new build of the game appearing at Toushinsai last weekend, and information mostly limited to player impressions on Twitter, Arc System Works content creator Koefficient has recently released a guide covering the main gameplay mechanics of the upcoming BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle.
In the nine-minute video, he covers the button layout as well as core mechanics like Reversal Actions, Reject Guard — which functions similarly to pushblocking or BlazBlue’s Barrier Guard — the two types of Smart Combo routes, Resonance Blaze, as well as the various tag mechanics and safe, invincible incoming attacks (that can be used after losing a character). However, Koefficient chose to exclude talk about the combo gatling routes, as the game is still in a very early state — meaning these could be very subject to change as development goes on.
An interesting note seen in the latest build is that while Auto Run is a universal form of movement for the entire cast, Hazama, the first character with a Step Dash to be introduced, will instead “dash furiously forward” when moving. Another interesting addition is that when an Assist is called, they will flash either red or blue, signaling a Fatal Recovery state for the duration of the move until they exist the screen, depending on whether they are on the Player 1 or Player 2 team. You can see the full video below:
GameFAQs user Nazdrovie has translated the movelists that were released for players at Toushinsai, which contained all previous characters and the additions of Rachel Alucard and Hazama.

When your opponent created their blockstring in the practice mode of Street Fighter V, did they test the string on both standing and crouching opponents? Depending on the answer to this, you can potentially ruin your opponent’s day by just standing back up near the end of their block string.
As Echo Fox’s Julio Fuentes demonstrates, the hurtbox of your character is wider when they crouch, than when they stand. Most blockstrings are built around a crouching opponent, since crouch blocking is the safest default option. By standing at the right time, you can create a big whiff in what your opponent thought was a safe pressure string…
