X-Kira teases more Crossover Costumes, and that “Super Street Fighter V” could be the final version of the game

Also claims that Season 5 will be the last, and teases upcoming characters and modes!

Infamous Brazilian leaker and dataminer X-Kira has recently been giving out “Christmas presents” on his Twitter account, teasing a massive amount of Crossover Costumes that could be arriving to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition during Season 4 in 2019 — as he claims to know 70% of future outfits arriving in 2019.

As usual he tweeted pictures of various Capcom characters, including: Batsu Ichimonji and Kyosuke Kagami from Rival Schools, (he previously tweeted pictures of Hinata Wakaba, and the Taiyo High School emblem, which all three attend) Captain Commando’s Baby Head and Mack the Knife, Asura’s Wrath’s Asura, Plasma Sword’s Hayato Kanzaki, Fou-Lu, Ryu and Nina from Breath of FireDead Rising’s Frank West, Tron Bonne from Mega Man Legends, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams’ Kaijin no Soki, Red Earth/Warzard’s Tessa/Tabasa and Leo, Marvel vs. Capcom 2’s Ruby Heart, Jin Saotome from Cyberbots, Regina from Dino Crisis, as well as the trio of D.D., Rook, and Death from the canceled Capcom Fighting All-Stars: Code Holder. X-Kira also specifies that some of these outfits will be for the new challengers in Season 4.

He then goes on to state that Dark Sakura and Cyber-Akuma from Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter will be appearing in Extra Battle in the near future, and that dedicated Yoga Masters will finally be able to enjoy Dhalsim’s Nostalgic costume as a Premium attire next year. X-Kira mentions that Season 4 will be “a season of love and hate,” with “a strong grappler joining the roster.” Kira then goes on to say that the Season 2 and 3 cast could be seeing some cleaner, more refined animations next year, before noting that a number of characters and variants can be faced in a new mode that will let us face NPCs (perhaps the Boss Rush mode X-Kira spoke about in the past.), including:

  • Arthur
  • Asura
  • Street Fighter II M. Bison and Sagat
  • Balrog and Guile with their Street Fighter II Rainbow Edition movesets
  • Cyber-Akuma
  • Dark Sakura
  • Evil Ryu
  • Mech Zangief, Juri, and F.A.N.G
  • Mega Man X
  • Sheng Long
  • Giant versions of Abigail, Alex, a new character, Dan, Phantom M. Bison, Peter Zonta, and Shadaloo Soldiers
  • Shadaloo Dolls
  • Nadeshiko
  • invisible characters
  • M. Bison II from Street Fighter EX 2 Plus (with his unique version of Psycho Cannon and Knee Press Nightmare)

Finally, X-Kira made it clear that his recent findings haven’t been datamining, as he actually has access to Capcom’s QA servers, and that the company is looking to “shut him down” in 2019. Most notably, he mentions that the recent reveal of Street Fighter V Type Arcade, “automatically confirms another version of the game, since other builds are being made and Arcade Edition will be replaced … Super Street Fighter V is the final version of SFV,” claiming it will be released in December 2019, with Arcade Rival cutscenes, similar to Street Fighter IV, also being added. According to Kira Season 5 will be the last for the game, with General Story Volume 2 also in the works.

You can see all of the relevant tweets below, but keep in mind this is all unconfirmed, so only time (and Capcom) will tell how much of these predictions/teases come true.

Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Gogeta and Broly (Super Saiyan Full Power) blast into Dragon Ball Xenvoerse 2 in Extra Pack 4

The strongest fighters from Dragon Ball Super: Broly have arrived

While the upcoming movie, Dragon Ball Super: Broly might be a couple months away, releasing on January 16, 2019, in the U.S., Bandai Namco Entertainment is already announcing new DLC for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 to hype up the upcoming film.

While the title character, Broly, is no surprise, Gogeta, who has until this moment remained a non-canon fusion of heroes Goku and Vegeta, is now recreated with new moves, an even cooler sense of confidence, and a Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (SSGSS or Super Saiyan Blue) transformation.

While potentially spoiling some of the fun for fans wanting to wait until the film releases, Bandai Namco Entertainment already shared a new trailer for the film showcasing the canon iteration of Gogeta to promote the new Broly being added to the mobile fighter, Dragon Ball Legends.

Players can catch a five-second teaser for the new character below, shared by Dragon Ball personality, Rhymestyle. While five seconds is certainly brief, even when compared to the seemingly short 30-second trailers for Dragon Ball FighterZ, the teaser captures the essence of the new blue Gogeta and his original techniques. Gogeta’s fast blue energy blasts remind me of Broly’s own Blaster Shell technique with his own spin.

Not to be overpowered by the azure fusion fighter, Broly (Super Saiyan Full Power), not to be confused with the community named mastered state from Dragon Ball Z of the same name, is also heading to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 as part of the Extra Pack 4 DLC set.

If Broly wasn’t already intimidating enough, this new iteration of the character is power incarnate. With new duds and his familiar green glow, Broly is bound to be a worthy opponent (or partner) in any Xenoverse mission.

There’s always a ton to look forward to with Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 in terms of both paid and free content and Extra Pack 4 will be no different. On top of receiving the two powerhouse fighters, players who purchase Extra Pack 4 will also obtain the Tournament of Power Arena from the last arc of the Dragon Ball Super anime as a playable stage.

While not explicitly stated, one can assume, as it has been done with all DLC packs for the title, players will also have the ability to learn Gogeta and Broly’s new moves through additional parallel quests that add even more wacky time traveling stories to the title. I’m hoping for a classic Broly vs. New Broly showdown alongside a Vegito Blue vs. Gogeta Blue smackdown, what about you?

Never to be left without a gift for the holiday, all players regardless of whether they purchase Extra Pack 4 or not will gain access to the Santa outfit and Broly’s wig for their custom characters. There’s bound to be more free content as well so keep your senses heightened.

Expect more information and a full-length trailer showcasing both of the Dragon Ball Super: Broly characters and the rest of the additional content coming to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 through Extra Pack 4 and the free update to be released in the near future.

Those who can’t wait to add more content to Xenoverse 2 can download even more music from the anime through the recently released Anime Music Pack 2, which is also downloadable for Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Stumblebee chronicles the history of Street Fighter V’s origin and improvements in “From Chump to Champ”

Street Fighter V has often been the most divisive numbered title in the franchise’s 30-year history. While many new players love the title, many veterans to the series can’t help but look at it with disdain compared to older titles.

With all of that aside, Stumblebee discussed the massive divergence from older titles in this video chronicling the history of Street Fighter V. He also goes into great detail on the initial sparseness of content, the gameplay and input lag issues — and also shows how Capcom has taken steps to right the course of their most important Street Fighter title yet.

New punishment options and adjusted hitboxes make Tekken 7 Season 2 Eddy a little more well-rounded

Polarized “gimmick” characters like Tekken 7‘s Eddy are difficult to balance for tournament play, and often end up being too weak due to their overt reliance on opponent unawareness. While Eddy saw tournament success in Season 1, Namco has nonetheless decided to bring Eddy a little bit closer to center with his changes in Season 2.

Eddy’s biggest changes come in the form of getting a new, much needed i14 punish in the form of B+24, a new safe mid power crush, a wall bounce on his valuable ff+3 power poke, and a nerf to his bizarre SS3+4 hitbox. A mixture of buffs and nerfs means its difficult to tell where Eddy will end up in the long run, but since his core crush game is in tack, it seems like he should be just fine.

Final Showdown’s new Dragon Ball FighterZ combo videos explore how Vegito and Piccolo have changed in the new patch

The latest Dragon Ball FighterZ patch has had a lot of players looking at how many of their favorite characters have changed. One of these is prolific combo video creator Final Showdown, who’s back with some videos exploring two of his favorite characters.

Final Showdown’s latest videos explore Vegito and Piccolo. Long time readers will recognize these are some of the characters he favors in making combos for the game. For Vegito, being able to jump cancel his down heavy in mid air means that his damage output has now been increased. As such, the two videos below explore this increased damage.

Piccolo, on the other hand, has suffered something of a nerf. Right now, it seems that his universal orb loop no longer works. That said, some of his other changes do open up some more combos for him.

There aren’t too many Kolin players at the top of Street Fighter V: Arcade Editon‘s tournament scene. Just the fact that Neon shows up with her at all makes him stand out — being able to beat Dogura in a tournament and go toe-to-toe with the likes of Phenom is just icing on the cake.

Here’s some off screen footage of Dead or Alive 6’s latest build from DOA Festival 2018

As part of their annual DOA Festival, Team NINJA brought out a playable build of their upcoming Dead or Alive 6. A number of players and outlets got the chance to not only play this new build, but capture some footage of this — footage that we’ve now compiled below.

Asiamisu was able to record a lot of footage of Dead or Alive 6 at DOAFES. Their footage features a lot of the ninja sisters Kasumi and Ayane, as well as fighters Mila and Tina (who were both revealed at TGS).

One of the characters who we haven’t seen a lot of gameplay of is Christie, who was first revealed at Paris Games Week. Happily, Blue Sky Gameplay recorded a match with her. While we still don’t get to see much of how she’s changed, we do get to see her Jakeiho command sidestep — something that wasn’t featured in her reveal trailer.

Meanwhile, Tomofuan Channel captured a couple of long sets. The videos below feature the players actually talking about the action on screen, although it is in Japanese.

Finally, Kansetsu Ressha has shared three videos, all of which seem to be the first part of multi-part match videos. Hopefully, we’ll see the later parts of these matches soon.

Dead or Alive 6 launches on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on February 15.

Capcom Cup 2018 Analysis: Will Oil King cut his opponents as short as his shorts?

Oil King has had to climb an uphill road this season. Having made it through to the last Capcom Cup — and subsequently losing all of his sets in the tournament — he woke up to find his trademark Rashid receiving a great deal of nerfs in Season 3. While some competitors would move on to greener pastures, Oil King decided to push forward with the character.

His hard work paid off, as he has found himself in a good position in the bracket at Capcom Cup this year. Will this year be the year that someone from Taiwan finally wins it all?

Rashid SFV

Turbulent Winds

Trouble in the Rashid camp certainly hasn’t held Oil King back. With a notable degree of nerfs for the character coming into Season 3, we saw several players consider pulling away from the character. But Oil King definitely persisted.

While Rashid definitely was weakened in several aspects — one part where he got stronger was within his V-System. While many characters have what are agreed upon as superior V-Triggers, Rashid has two very good V-Triggers that are useful depending on the matchup. Moreover, when you factor in that both have a cost of two bars, it gives Rashid ample opportunity to use both of them. This makes it less of a debate on whether you will be able to get multiple instances of V-Trigger depending on which one you choose.

Oil King has done very well in adding V-Trigger II to his repertoire, using both frequently depending on who he is playing. Further, he has been able to augment the strengths of Rashid that remained after the patch, including his amazing frame traps. He’s also performed exceedingly well within neutral range, meaning he doesn’t have to bring you to the corner to get his wins now.

The Winning Edge

Where Oil King has struggled has been winning at the highest peaks of the game, and he has finally managed to breach that summit. Taking Final Fighters China was definitely not a fluke. While many can argue about the random seeding issues that plagued the event, when your top 6 features Fuudo, Momochi, Fuudo, and StormKUBO — all of whom qualified for Capcom Cup — you have to give him a serious look. Further, he took several top 8s across the board, and even won an online event that featured Fujimura, Gachikun, Nemo, Haitani, and NL. When you’re becoming that consistent against top players, you have to be taken seriously.

Streaks Fade

The problem that I have been having with him is his consistency. While he’s a solid player, and no one will argue that, he has periods where just looks off. His tournament results show exactly this: make two or three top 8s, finish well outside of that next time, repeat the process.

rashidsfvThis was something of worry for Haitani two years ago, and Haitani’s results most certainly hindered him in progressing far in the Capcom Cup bracket. But to make matters worse, his results have become increasingly less consistent as time went on. Especially going into a weaker field at DreamHack Montréal — where he fell to CJ Truth and then to Chi-Rithy — to only make top 16 but be in the upper half of seeding at Capcom Cup means that we could see him struggle.

Predictability

But even worse is people are catching on to some of his tendencies. Let’s face it, everyone has some semblance of predictability, but Oil King seems to have a few more obvious tells. His wall jumps are becoming more a liability, and when that’s his go-to answer to escape pressure, it’s far easier for people to make his conversion rate on them slim.

Also, he has become a bit more predictable in which scenarios he’ll use certain frame traps. This is something Tokido showed at Tokyo Game Show, where he was able to anticipate his Spinning Mixer frame trap into Critical Art to chip. This was a costly mistake, as it not only cost him the round when Tokido teleported out for the K.O., but also cost him his entire meter.

rashid

Final Thoughts

As long as nothing changes, Oil King will be facing Momochi in a runback from Grand Finals of FFC. Given his narrow victory over him, Momochi will have plenty of data and time to prepare for him. And as many pros have discussed, it’s much easier to bounce back from a narrow loss than it is to hang on to a slim margin of victory.

So I’ll take a wild guess and say that Momochi will come out on top first round of the bracket. Oil King has the ability to make a deep run in the Losers Bracket, but I’m not sure he has enough gas in the tank to take it all.

Complete your Crossover Costume collection: Multiple costumes returning to Street Fighter V’s Extra Battle

Here’s another chance for any outfits you missed!

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition has gained a lot of Crossover Costumes since Extra Battle mode was introduced. Over most of the month of December, you’ll be able to complete challenges to earn any of five prior costumes you might have missed on their first pass: Viewtiful Joe (Rashid), June (Chun-Li), Captain Commando (Nash), Nameless Super Soldier (Guile), and the fairly-recent Fiona (Cammy).

As per usual, you’ll need to cough up some Fight Money and complete a challenge each week to earn the outfits — though if you completed any challenges previously but fell short of finishing all four for a costume, you’ll only need to earn the pieces you missed.
