Maximilian shares some thoughts — and footage — of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite from E3

Love or hate him, Maximilian Christiansen has done a great job in pushing fighting game content for more casual players. While he covers a lot of fighting games, the one series in particular that he’s been most associated with is the Marvel vs. Capcom series. As such, it should be no surprise that Max was at E3 to try out the latest public build of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.

More than just showing gameplay footage and talking about the E3 build, however, Max also talks a bit about the downloadable story mode demo that was released just in time for E3. Specifically, he goes over the differences between the two builds, and how the downloadable demo seems to have been a let-down due to its graphically less-polished state, and the fact that it didn’t focus on the game’s strengths (the gameplay).

That said, there is still a lot of footage from the E3 build, especially since Maximilian finally gets to play his dream team of Mega Man X and Strider Hiryu.

Brolylegs teaches you how to properly utilize anti-airs in Cross Counter TV’s GFinity Training Series

After getting some tips on learning matchups with Echo Fox|Justin Wong and Dr. Fatbody explaining how to deal with five commonly-abused attacks, the next installment in Cross Counter TV’s GFinity Training Series sees AbleGamers|Brolylegs teach players how to properly defend themselves with anti-air attacks in Street Fighter V. Though perhaps a rudimentary concept for some of our readers, being able to properly defend against jump-ins attacks, particularly if they are cross-ups, is an integral part of improving in fighting games in general — especially when they can lead to massive damage, as is the case with SFV.

Utilizing his signature Chun-Li as an example, Broly goes over the differences between using normals as AA options versus using your special attacks, as well as explaining how to find the proper timing, spacing, and reliability to utilize the attacks to ensure maximum effectiveness. He also covers air-to-air situations, and urges players to find the best AA solutions for their character(s) of choice.

For European players looking to show off their skills in online competition, you can find more information about the GFinity Elite Series, featuring Street Fighter V, at www.gifinityelite.com. You can also follow BrolyLegs on Twitter; stay tuned to Cross Counter TV’s channel for more great instructional content.

The Wii U Pokkén controller and Brook Universal Fighting Board are now compatible with the Nintendo Switch

After the latest 3.0 firmware upgrade, the HORI Pokkén Tournament Controller and Brook Universal Fighting Board are now both compatible with the Nintendo Switch.

For the popular Pokkén controller, this is almost definitely because of the latest announcement for Pokkén Tournament DX. It is worth noting that the Pokkén controller has shown compatibility in odder places in the past:

By making the Pokkén controller work with the Nintendo Switch — whether intentional or not — the Brook Universal Fighting Board now works with the Switch, too. Brook was working on compatibility for the Switch in the past; it sounds like their job got a lot easier.

BornFree talks to Sajam, the king of segues, about commentary and gaming at E3

Sajam has quickly become one of the go-to names in commentary for Street Fighter, and fighting games in general. He’s known for being highly knowledgeable and entertaining, as well as notorious for some of the best [Or at least funniest! – Editor] advertisement segues in the business. He has honed his craft at Wednesday Night Fights and moved up to the big leagues in a relatively short time.

At E3, BornFree caught up with Sajam, and let him bend his ear prior to his flight for CEO about numerous topics. They talked about how he practiced his commentary, and honed his craft in multiple games — something Sajam attributes to actually playing numerous games and characters, to get a feel for mechanics and matchups, as well as learning from his commentary partner, who may be more knowledgeable in a game than himself. They also talked about his impressions of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, in which Sajam echoed Alex Valle’s sentiments of the graphics needing to be fixed, but the gameplay already being fun. They also talked about Capcom’s design decisions, in which he believes that Capcom has gone way too far in the opposite extreme compared to Street Fighter IV, and that player concerns in both directions are legitimate.

Have a look at all of the anime and manga references found for Goku and Frieza in Dragon Ball FighterZ (so far)

It’s no secret that Dragon Ball FighterZ has been sending shockwaves throughout the fighting game community since it first revealed its power level at E3. With Bandai Namco Entertainment enlisting Arc System Works to help craft this iteration’s foray into traditional 2D fighting — and creating a gorgeous landscape for players to destroy by utilizing the power of Unreal Engine 4 and a cell-shaded art style akin to Guilty Gear Xrd — fighting game players and franchise fans alike worldwide are salivating at the chance to trade blows in this new title. Though we’ve already seen plenty of impressions and gameplay footage, the developers have taken great care not to ignore the passionate fans of the franchise’s legendary history!

Based on all available footage we have of the title so far, IKevinX has compiled all of the various references the game makes to the original anime and manga for Goku and Frieza. This showcase displays that — beyond the normals, specials, supers and transformations — everything from ki charging, intro and victory animations, to idle stances and flight patterns, has been meticulously crafted to be as accurate to the source material as possible. You can see both videos below, with episodes on the other announced cast members: Perfect Cell, Vegeta, Teen Gohan and Majin Buu, hopefully coming soon.

What were some of your favorite references? Were there any that you didn’t know about? Let us know in the comments below!

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be released sometime in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Street Fighter V is getting more school costumes — for Ibuki, Nash, & R. Mika — on June 27th

While we’ve still got a few more weeks ’til school’s out, Capcom has decided to add a few more school-themed costumes to Street Fighter V. First shown at E3 and coming next week on June 27th, Ibuki, Nash, and R. Mika are all getting new uniforms. Ibuki’s outfit looks the most familiar, wearing her traditional fuka school uniform. Her red scarf is apparently an homage to fellow Capcom ninja Strider Hiryu, according to the blog post.

SFV Ibuki School Costume

With his hall monitor sash and pristine white gakuran uniform, I bet Nash was a right pain to deal with in high school. You can just imagine him appearing out of the shadows and dragging you to detention. His white uniform may be familiar to Rival Schools fans, with Nash looking a little like Kyosuke Kagami.

SFV Nash School Costume

As for R. Mika, she’s chosen the sensible option for her school uniform. Instead of a leotard and pigtails, Mika’s let her hair down and is wearing your standard sailor fuku. With thick glasses and loads of friendship bracelets on her arms, Mika looks like she’s leading the school pep rally when she uses her V-Skill.

SFV R Mika School Costume

These outfits will go on sale on June 27th, each going for $3.99 USD. R. Mika, Nash, and Ibuki join Ryu, Chun-Li, and Juri in Capcom’s school of hard knocks. It’s probably the closest we’re going to get to a new Rival Schools game.
