SoulCalibur VI roundup: Locked air control exploits, back-turned clashes, Reversal Edge breakdowns and more!

SoulCalibur VI is still going strong and the tech is still filling up our tipline. Let’s take a look at some of the high damage and crazy tech that’s floated in today:

TesuuArisato found an interesting loop that exploits the fact that Sophie’s WS B+K locks air control on its first hit.

Instead of opting for an air throw, raynexpress has a clever ukemi setup for Taki’s A+B bomb.

The new Lethal Hit mechanic gives new life to moves that never quite shined so bright before. Take the case of Seong Mina’s 44K, as demonstrated by Fighterslegend.

sikshot gaming breaks down all the pros and cons around the controversial new mechanic, Reversal Edge. Pay particular attention to the unique gimmick around Azwel’s K option!

Kagerasimaru shows off why Talim is a combo-lover’s dream — particularly if you like to cross up mid-combo, as that is pretty much the entirety of her design.

And closing out today’s post is RossLipps , who shows us an assortment of exceptionally odd interactions that can occur in SCVI, including back-turned clashes, GI’s, and strange parries against Taki’s projectile.

Thanks to everyone that submitted content to us! If you have some SCVI tech you’d like to share with the world, reach out to us through our tipline.

Switch fans launch community-led matchmaking site “Switcher.gg”

While Nintendo’s console portable hybrid Switch has been getting a number of multiplayer games — including fighting games — actually connecting to people can be a chore. While Nintendo has made some steps to remedy this, the system in place for most games is still far from ideal.

To respond to this challenge, a Switch fan who goes by the handle “bezzaton” on Reddit has created a new multiplayer match up site for players on the system. Called Switcher.gg, the site aims to connect Switch players who want to play together, either through online or local multiplayer.

Interested players can sign up via either email or Discord. Additionally, the site features integration with the latter, so any messages sent via Switcher.gg can be received on Discord. That said, players still have the option of simply using their Nintendo IDs instead.

Persona Entertainment tackles Luong in their latest The King of Fighters XIV combo video

Persona Entertainment continues their journey through the cast of The King of Fighters XIV with yet another combo video. This time, they focus on newcomer Luong.

Luong is an interesting character because she’s one of the rare fighters who is able to extend their MAX mode combos even after the mode has ended. This means that she gets a few more options to end her combos after MAX has ended.

Check out the video below. As usual, notation for these can be found in the description on YouTube.

arika shows off incoming balance changes to Stealth Raptor, Thunderbolt decks in Fighting EX Layer

Over the weekend Fighting EX Layer developers arika showed off a demonstration video for some recent balance changes in the works for two of the game’s Gougi decks: Thunderbolt and Stealth Raptor.

With how integral running has become, arika has decided to retool Stealth Raptor around a new running dash, then slightly nerf the short hop by adding a half-meter cost. Thunderbolt users, however, have much more to be pleased with: it’s all buffs for them, in the form of a new, very fast ground-to-air teleport.

Start your samurai training with this Mitsurugi Starter Guide for SoulCalibur VI

Get started in SoulCalibur VI with the iconic samurai.

soulcalibur vi logo black

New to SoulCalibur, or 3D games in general? On-The-Box protagonists are usually good places to start when learning a new engine, and SoulCalibur VI‘s Mitsurugi is no exception. Armed with a versatile toolkit that contains mid-range and applies hellish pressure up close, Mitsurugi is rarely without options of some kind on the battlefield.

Since learning Mitsurugi will inevitably help you learn Calibur as a whole, we thought it’d be best to make our first beginner’s guide centered around the series-original samurai. We’ll go through the whole cast in a similar manner, and build up basic knowledge of the whole cast’s primary goals from the ground up.

The next DLC character for SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy will be unveiled at the London MCM Comic Con

NIS America has just announced when they will be revealing the next DLC character for SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy. The new character is set to be revealed at the London MCM Comic Con on Thursday, October 25.

Of course, this wouldn’t be an SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy announcement without them teasing the character. As such, NIS America has released the silhouette — that you can see above — of the upcoming character.

From the silhouette, we can see that the new character has some sharp nails as well as a distinct bob-style haircut. This does seem to narrow them down to certain specific characters from SNK’s various IPs.

Whoever this character is, we’ll find out their identity on October 25.
