It’s time for a combo video featuring that king (queen?) of horror, the Alien. This character has seen play at the highest level from the likes of Echo Fox’s Sonic Fox, and still has a lot of viability nowadays. Watch as it tears its opponents limb from limb in this video that features its Tarkatan variation. Primarily consisting of corner combos, it’s still is a great display of execution for the character.
The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U modding community is one of the more active modding communities in fighting games as a whole, and they always seem to be coming up with some really neat mods. We just recently had the Wicke mod–from Pokémon Sun and Moon–and now we get to see a particularly well-done Mega Man mod.
This addition of Bass sees some really nice attention to detail, particularly the texture of the gold bits of Bass’ armor. The mod also sees the Buster effects altered, as well as alterations to Megaman’s up-B–replacing Mega Man’s companion Rush with Bass’ companion Treble. The most stunning effect has to be to the Final Smash, which normally sees various iterations of Mega Man from different games jump in to aid him in his fight. Bass’ Final Smash sees several villains, such as Vile, Bass.EXE, Juno, and Rogue join him instead.
Pokkén Tournament has regularly been on the edge of our radar; the similarities to Tekken allows for this game to have quite the open combo system, as well as heavy juggles that allow you to extend your combos.
Today, Gengar steps out of the dark and into the limelight. The ghost Pokémon becomes even more ghastly with the number of hits he piles into these two amazing combo videos.
Echo Fox’s Tokido has been on a killing spree as of late. With his return to Akuma in Street Fighter V’s Season 2, the Murderface is back with a vengeance!
However, when he goes up against Haitani’s Necalli, it’s not as easy as you’d think. You don’t reach #2 on the CFN leaderboard and 4th place at Capcom Cup 2016 without skill, and Haitani proves that he has it in spades as he stands toe-to-toe with the most dangerous Akuma out there.
One of the biggest shockers starting the year of 2017 was Justin Wong’s decision to make a organization change. From his departure from long-time team Evil Geniuses to his signing with Echo Fox, things happened very quickly for Wong, and he seems to be reaping significant benefits from his move.
Justin Wong sat down with Michael Martin to talk about the reasons for his move to Echo Fox, why he left Evil Geniuses in the first place, and his excitement at his change in alignment.
Time after time, it’s still very much possible to find new uses of the same moves in fighting games. In Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-, Sin Kiske’s super attacks are one of the most flexible ones in the game. RTL lets him move around the screen in any direction, while the projectile, Voltic Deign, is frequently used in setups and mix-ups.
Sin player Valas Phoenix compiled a new combo video with a creative use for the Overdrive. While Voltic Deign still hits the opponent while waking up, as typical in Sin okizeme, most of the projectile goes through. Valas then combos the opponent and uses the traveling ball to carry them to the other side of the screen and continue. Not only it’s great to place them right in the corner across the whole stage, you can also look stylish while doing so.
Set to a festive tune, the video shows what attack string to start with to get the proper distance and timing depending on the opposing character, as well as what combo to follow up. Character weights matter a lot here, but there’s room to improvise with aerial enders, a charged Beak Driver, and so on. The video description explains a few caveats:
“2K 2HS 5HS 2D allows to use just one hit of Voltic Deign, so you can use the other 4 to try cool stuff, unluckily it’s not universal and on some characters, like Zato, works in a really weird manner.
2K 2HS 5HS works really well and probably it’s the closest to be universal, you get less free hits out of the Bubble though.
2K 2HS 5HS 236K it’s similar to 5HS 2D, it’s another way to set it up.”
Active members of the Super Smash Bros. community may recognize CLASH Tournaments for their coverage of major Smash events such as Apex 2014, SKTAR 3 and EGLX 2016, but may not be aware that they host and stream a weekly Project M tournament series known as Project CLASH. The comradely tournaments takes place in Philadelphia, PA and the series is on it’s 21st iteration.
The stream from Project CLASH 21, which took place this past Thursday, was uploaded in it’s entirety to the official CLASH Tournaments YouTube Channel and hails the participation of high-level players Switch, Chibo, DVD, Woody and others. You can peep the upload below and coverage of every previous Project CLASH is can be viewed in these playlists.
In all the signings this past week, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows for rising esports stars in the FGC. As evidence of this, Super Smash Bros. Melee star James “Duck” Ma has been forced to leave Denial Esports after only five months with the organization.
The reason for the departure: Duck is facing two months of back pay from Denial. While he stated in a confirmation with ESPN Esports that Denial “have been very transparent about how they’ve been trying to pay me back and as of now have already paid the majority of what they owe me,” this is not the first time that the organization has landed in hot water over nonpayment of their players–the company has two other such instances in the last 18 months.
Two of the best with these two 3rd Strike characters come to blows in Street Fighter V’s Season 2; Alienware’s Nemo recently made the switch from Vega to Urien, and has already made great strides with the character.
Today, he goes up against Gunfight, who has been considered one of the top Alex players for a long time. Will Nemo’s inexperience with his new main prove to be weakness against Gunfight? Or will he show himself dominant against one of the best in the game?
Looks like Jax’s daughter is coming into her own in Mortal Kombat XL. A strong character in her own right, she definitely has the combo potential to be entertaining; watch her prove it in this eleven-minute-long combo video that features her Full Auto, High Tech, and Shotgun variations. While a great deal of these invlove with her playing from the corner, the breadth of her combo ability is put on full display.
