Balrog Gains a Puncher’s Chance with These 50/50 Setups for Street Fighter V

Balrog was always able to dole out damage in Street Fighter V. However, through Season 1 it was in a straightforward way much akin to his spacing game in Street Fighter IV. With the Season 2 changes, Balrog is looking more like his Super Street Fighter II Turbo self and less like his Street Fighter IV self. With a few adjustments, he has found 50/50 mixups that allow him to do a great deal of damage, upwards of 70% damage on your average cast member. Between his overhead out of V-Skill and low forward, Balrog will put a lot of players on notice.

Justin Wong Debating a Move to Southern California after Signing with Echo Fox

Justin Wong is full of surprises recently; first, he parts ways with Evil Geniuses. Then, he inks a deal with rising stars Echo Fox. Now, he may be considering even bigger moves.

According to Yahoo! Esports: Justin Wong, who has been living in Northern California working for nVidia while training with Northern California fellow Evil Genius Ricki Oritz, is considering giving up his position at the company to move to Southern California. This move would allow him to be closer to the Echo Fox studios to practice alongside his teammates.

Momochi’s Ken is Still up to Snuff in Street Fighter V Season 2

With Momochi being one of the several exiles from Evil Geniuses that found their way in the Echo Fox camp, one must assume that the incoming organization has high expectations of the Japanese player. However, unable to crack top 16 at Capcom Cup or Evolution 2016, he will have a long road to propel him to the top of the charts.

With that said, despite his play of Akuma since the update, he has been maintaining his Ken as well. How well is his original main, and is it enough to serve him as his main in Season 2? Find out in this video compilation.

Here’s How to Defend Against Laura in Street Fighter V’s Second Season

Now that Street Fighter V’s Season 2 changes are starting to settle in, there are some characters that have unmistakably benefited hugely from Capcom’s shakeup. Laura is one of them, thanks to increased offensive capabilities alongside improved frame data, which allows her to run a train on unsuspecting foes.

You’ve no doubt already run into a strong Laura online, and have found yourself wondering what it takes to apply the brakes on her offense. Well, wonder no longer, thanks to the guys over at Gaming is a Calling. They’ve put together an extensive video detailing exactly what to do to ensure you don’t fall afoul of Laura’s Brazilian wiles, including a bunch of pro tips that blow up some common tricks.

Be sure to check it out below on some more information. After all, we want to make sure that once she starts a fight, she can’t finish it quickly.

Mastercup 9 Will Return in 2017 for More Tekken Action

The Tekken series has a history of amazing competitions over the years. While we have yet to see any announcement of a revival of Tekken Crash in Korea, one of the largest Tekken events in the world, another team-based Tekken event is returning nonetheless.

Mark “Markman” Julio just passed along the announcement of Mastercup 9, Japan’s most prestigious Tekken event. A team tournament much like Korea’s Crash events, as well as Mattsun’s X-EST tournament for Super Street Fighter II Turbo, this will shape up to be a massive event.

While dates are not yet set in stone, we should be expecting amazing matches at this event, as well as the potential for a dangerous Team USA with Tekken 7 releasing on consoles soon.

The action starts with the Pre-Cooperation Cup, a 5-on-5 team tournament in which same character teams are encouraged (but not required). The following day is the Cooperation Cup 5-on-5 itself, which allows for duplicate characters on teams but requires team compositions of at least three different characters. Both events are broken up into multiple rounds of play, starting with the first and second rounds, which will determine 7 of the 8 finals tournament teams, with the remaining team decided by the playoff rounds.

Each day of the event is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM JST (8:00 PM EST, 5:00 PM PST), with the finals schedule to start around 5:30 PM JST (3:30 AM EST, 12:30 AM PST). For more information on format and schedule, check out this helpful Google doc.

Check out all the high-level 3rd Strike live from Tokyo Leisure Land Pallet Town on Ooyama Game Newton’s Twitch channel.

Skullgirls 2nd Encore Arcade Cabinet Spotted at Akihabara Arcade, a Barcade Near Denver Colorado

Wild arcade sightings are nowhere near as common as they once were, making secret niches all the more exciting to happen upon. While the existence of pure arcades are rarer now, Barcades have persisted, and are becoming more popular recently. Barcades are, as their name implies, a combination of a bar and an arcade, helping ensure their livelihood.

Akihabara is one of these, located in Westminster, near the heart of Colorado. You can find details like store hours and reviews on their Yelp page. This arcade is fairly unique in being one of very few, if any, Arcades to house a Skullgirls arcade cabinet.

Skullgirls Arcade

The cabinet looks to have been imported from Japan, but appears to be playing the English versionof Skullgirls 2nd Encore. It will be receiving the coming patch update, so it is prepared to be played for years to come.
