Channel the Power of the Aura with IzAw’s “Art of” Lucario Tutorial for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Working his way through the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U roster, the time has come for Lucario to get his own “Art of” tutorial. One of the most polarizing fighters in Smash 4 due to his Aura mechanic, playing Lucario involves riding the line between deliberately taking damage to boost your Aura and actively losing the lead due to mismanagement of your stocks.

For those who aren’t aware, all of Lucario’s moves gain power as he takes damage. While he starts off fairly weak, getting him to around 100% causes his Aura to become extremely powerful, meaning that a command grab or a back air could kill at around 50%. Lucario’s Aura also gains a natural boost if he is a stock down, meaning he starts off his next life with his Aura already boosted.

Due to Lucario mains having to keep track of Aura, his combos require players being able to react on the fly to the increased knockback of certain moves to keep their attacks going. As such, much of his neutral game is based around tricky aerial movement by B-reversing his Aura Sphere and other specials, while looking for that one grab to finish up a stock.

As with most of his “Art of” tutorials, IzAw goes through all of Lucario’s specials, normals and some starter combos to help get you started with this steadfast Pokémon. With Aura and Rage mixed together, Lucario is an absolute beast at higher percents, so choose your moves carefully.

Panda Global Announces Key to Genesis 4 Online Qualifiers for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Following on from their previous online qualifiers for Shine 2016 and The Big House 6, Panda Global are partnering up with smash.gg yet again for another set of tournaments to award one lucky player with a trip to Genesis 4. Much like the other events, this “Key to G4” series is for North American residents only, so don’t expect any Europeans winning that golden ticket to San Jose.

Seeing as Genesis is less than a month away, there will only be two individual qualifiers on New Year’s Day and January 2nd, with the top 8 to be held later in the week as the top 4 from each event go forward. As with previous events, the top three placers will get prizes, but only the winner will receive that flight and entry to G4.

Registration will open on smash.gg tomorrow and the rules regarding connection quality and so on will be the same as previous qualifiers, so read up on their rules to get a feel for what you need to compete. In general Genesis 4 news, while registration is now closed, players can still choose what events they wish to play in, as well as who they want as a teammate for select doubles events. This information must be decided by January 2nd and if you are just wanting to watch the finals, there is now a special Top 8 Spectator pass available for purchase.

Bandai Namco Shows off First Gameplay Footage of Gundam Versus

During the special Gundam Festival livestream, Bandai Namco has shown off live footage of Gundam Versus for the first time. Acting as the first Gundam Vs. title designed for consoles, this livestream acted as a showcase for the closed alpha test that was happened earlier in Japan, which gave a very small number of players the chance to battle it out in super-fast mech fights.

You can watch two of the demonstration matches below, showing off the general pace and direction of combat. Similar to assists you see in something like Marvel, pilots can call in special “Striker” Gundams to attack the enemy or distract them while you focus on another target. There are two new Awakening systems in Gundam Versus; the Blaze and the Lightning Gear. The Blaze Gear is similar to something like X-Factor, where a player gets a short boost of strength upon activation, which can increasing the damage they deal while decreasing the damage they take.

The Lightning Gear is an Awakening whose effects last much longer, but they are not as drastic as the Blaze Gear. If you are looking to act as the support Gundam in your two-person team, it’s best to pick Lightning Gear. While Bandai Namco are keeping tight lipped on a release date, Gundam Versus will have an Asian English version so mech pilots shouldn’t have to wait too long following the Japanese release.

PugilistPenguin Gives Us Two Minutes to Get Our Street Fighter V Punishes in Order

One of the most amateur mistakes is not punishing unsafe moves. To the untrained eye, a lot of people will not see the opportunity to strike after blocking, or a whiffed attack. Even when they do punish, they often do not punish their opponents to the fullest extent.

r/StreetFighter’s latest episode of Two Minute Tutorials aims to curb this practice, which ultimately handicaps your ability to win matches. It goes over punishes with a lot of detail in the 120 second runtime, leaving you with less time watching videos and more time to put into practice what you learned.

The King of Fighters XIV New Demo with Upgraded Graphics Is Now Available in Asia

As previously reported, The King of Fighters  XIV will be getting a new demo reflecting the graphical updates that are coming to the game with the 1.10 patch in January. While the demo is not yet out in North America, it is already available to download on PlayStation Network in Asia.

The demo features 7 characters: Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami, Shunei, King of Dinosaurs, Terry Bogard, Yuri Sakazaki, and Leona. The playable modes are the tutorial, versus, and training modes.

For those wondering just how much the graphics have changed, we’ve uploaded some comparison screenshots between it, and the existing retail build of the game (version 1.05).

As you can see from the screenshots, the characters now have much more prominent self-shadowing. This gives them a sense of “depth” that just wasn’t there before.

In addition to this, Gatoray has also uploaded this video from the demo, showing off the updated graphics in motion, as well as also giving us a glimpse of the new costume colors.

The King of Fighters XIV’s 1.10 patch is set to release on January 10.

How to Start a Fight and Finish It Quickly: Javits Breaks Down How to Beat Laura in Street Fighter V

Arguably no-one in the returning cast benefited more from the changes in season 2 than Laura. The ju-jitsu grappler has become one of the strongest characters in the game, with heavy mixup potential that will leave you on the ground for a great deal of the match, should you not know how to defend against her.

With that, Javits Arias has created a breakdown of the general Laura matchup over the course of the last few days on Twitter. Given how it could be difficult to sift through his tweets to find all of that, Javits took the liberty of compiling it into an Evernote for everyone’s perusal.
