With the recent release of Final Fantasy XIV’s latest expansion, Shadowbringers, Square Enix are announcing a new screenshot sweepstakes.

It’s a big day for Final Fantasy XIV players with today’s launch of the Shadowbringers expansion! Players will set off for Norvrandt, the First World, marking the first time that “Warriors of Light will journey beyond the world of Hydaelyn”. The launch of Shadowbringers brings a wealth of new content, a pair of new jobs and races, a level cap increase, the new Trust System, new Beast Tribes and Primals, new crafting recipes, updates to the Battle System and much more.

It may be the start of the Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers early access period, but that doesn’t mean things are going smoothly. Players have been reporting issues for the last couple of hours and it turns out that FFXIV servers are under DDoS attack. The attacks began at about 12:30 pm Pacific / 3:30 pm Eastern today and Square is looking into countermeasures.

The time Final Fantasy XIV players have been waiting for has finally arrived. The early access period for the Shadowbringers expansion has started with eager players flocking to FFXIV servers. In addition, Square Enix has re-released the opening trailer complete with the official lyrics to the theme song.

Sony TV and Hivemind have announced that Final Fantasy XIV is being primed for alive-action television series. Viewers will find a lot of familiar aspects from FFXIV including beastment, Cid, chocobos, and much more. While the story will be unique, it is inspired by the Eorzea seen in FFXIV though it will also have influences from the entire Final Fantasy series.

During a recent press event, Final Fantasy XIV Executive Producer Naoki Yoshida spoke candidly about why the game is not yet on Xbox One. He does not equivocate as he explains that Microsoft has two conditions that prevent porting FFXIV to XB1 with full crossplay capabilities: First, without the ability to chat across platforms, playing an MMO is impossible. Second, players are not allowed to form a guild, link shell or free company, again making MMO play impossible.

With the Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers early access start just around the corner, developers are eager to share some of the big changes coming o the game. In a new article on the FFXIV Lodestone, readers get a peek at some changes coming to PvP and how new classes may change up the dynamic as well.

The Gary Sinise Foundation is one of the most proactive and well-respected charitable organizations that supports “America’s defenders, veterans, first responders and their families 365 days a year”. Square Enix and the Final Fantasy XIV team have partnered with the Gary Sinise Foundation to support “the real life Warriors in the Darkness”. Every donation players make will be matched by Square Enix up to $50,000.

Japanese television viewers are now able to check out a brand new series of animated ads themed around Final Fantasy XIV. Called “Choose Your Life,” the series lays the groundwork for the upcoming Shadowbringers expansion. Each episode is “named” using a series of hashtags. The first is #UnexploredRegion #Influencer #Jockey #GiantRobo. It also features music titled “Smells Like a Teenage Rior with Miki Furukawa” by Have a Nice Day!

Manchester, UK Final Fantasy XIV fans attend! From July 1st to July 21st, you can head over to Shoryu Ramen to score a FFXIV-themed set menu that includes “delicious ramen and exclusive in-game items”. For about $30 USD, you will receive a special three-course meal themed around FFXIV. In addition, you will unlock 10 of the Buttery Mogbiscuits and Fat Choco Choco, each granting 4% XP for 30 minutes.
