Everyone has a fighting chance
Anyone who played the Beta weekend this past weekend will almost certainly have earned enough progression on the new mastery system to at least try out the gliding system. The presentation in Cologne and the beta weekend both had the same panel for the masteries, only we were lucky enough to have a Dev with sneaky dev build cheats for unlocking all of the progression possible at the moment.
A cryptic, or not so cryptic depending on your viewpoint, tweet and image has arrived on the Guild Wars 2 Twitter feed that seems to indicate that Glint is going to be revealed as the elite specialization for the Revenant.
In a new blog post on the Guild Wars 2 site, the team reveals that new PvP leagues will be a prominent feature of the upcoming Heart of Thorns expansion. Players will begin each season in the Beginners’ tier and work their way up by defeating opponents. Each tier will feature unique rewards, goals for players and improved matchmaking.
I do love me some theorycrafting. I’m not necessarily the best player, but I love coming up with ways to build characters and then put them to the test in a game. So I’d say I’m looking forward to the elite specializations in Heart of Thorns as much as I am to the new zones and gameplay.
I have a confession to make. My Engineer in Guild Wars 2 was the first character I leveled to 80. It was also the first character I stopped playing at the cap, because I realized I just didn’t like not having a melee focus in GW2. Silly right? It took me 80 levels and then some to figure that out. But Heart of Thorns could change all that, with one simple thing: a big ol’ two-handed hammer.
The Guild Wars 2 site has been updated with a new post by ArenaNet’s Mike Zadorojny that discussing "sweeping changes to the Fractals of the Mists".
ArenaNet has announced that the first public beta will kick off on Friday, August 7th beginning at 12:00 pm Pacific / 3:00 pm Eastern and will run through 12:00 pm Pacific / 3:00 pm Eastern on Monday, August 10th. Players who have preordered the Heart of Thorns expansion will be eligible for the event and will have access to all forthcoming beta weekends until HoT launches.
In the near future, Guild Wars 2 players will be asked to associate a telephone number with their account as part of a new move to keep player accounts safe from hacking. The new system will begin immediately but will roll out in stages. Over time, new accounts will be required to utilize the new SMS system.
"When it’s ready" is the ArenaNet mantra when it comes to showing off new features of Guild Wars 2. But how ready does something have to be for it to be viewable by the public?
