Everyone has a fighting chance
Guild Wars 2 players looking to get a look at one of the most anticipated features of the forthcoming Heart of Thorns expansion will have a chance to do so for 24-hours on April 24th. During the special event, all players can log into Heart of Thorns and try out the Stronghold PvP feature shipping with the expansion.
I’ve certainly not hidden the fact that I love the new age zone design for Guild Wars 2. It looks as if what we’ve seen in Dry Top and the Silverwastes will continue in Heart of Thorns, and I couldn’t be happier. Well, I could be happier, strictly speaking, but it’s not ArenaNet’s fault that I haven’t won the lottery yet (#&*@$ real-life RNG…).
Tomorrow’s Guild Wars 2 Points of Interest live stream will be a fascinating one for players looking forward to the upcoming Heart of Thorns expansion. The broadcast will take place at 12:00 pm Pacific / 3:00 pm Eastern in the Guild Wars 2 Twitch.tv room. Lead Writer Bobby Stein and Narrative Designer Scott McGough will be discussing how story will be embedded in every part of the expansion.
A few weeks ago, ArenaNet announced that it would be restoring the Guild Wars 2 Personal Story, most notably replacing the deactivated "My Greatest Fear" story. In addition, steps from Chapter 8 were moved to Chapter 7 which created an issue with players not being able to access some content and gave a feeling of discontinuity to the overall story arc.
Last week, ArenaNet laid out the first details for the new Legendary Crafting ability that high-level players will have access to when Heart of Thorns launches. We had the opportunity to interview game designer Lindsay Murdock about the precursor aspect of the journey.
The weapon is considered to be one of the most important aspects of a character. Sure your armor makes you look great, while also keeping those arrows from piercing your lungs, but the weapon you wield is what really strikes fear into the heart of your enemies. The legendary weapons in Guild Wars 2 are seen as a sign of great prowess, marking one as a member of the elite. But soon that status may extend to more players.
Legendary weapons in Guild Wars 2 have, up to now, only been available by purchasing from the trading post, through the Mystic Forge, or via drops. However, Heart of Thorns will change all that and allow players to embark on a journey to craft their own Legendary Weapons.

A new developer blog has been posted by Guild Wars 2 game designer Tyler Bearce. In it, Bearce discusses the new WvW Desert Borderlands map and how it will bring new elements to PvP. The team, Bearce writes, has learned a lot about "what works and what doesn’t in the time since releasing the original game." To that end, the team wanted to give players something really new that should give players new battlegrounds to master.
Today’s Guild Wars 2 update notes have been released with the welcomed surprise that the first-person view camera is now part of the game. Also, the WvW map requirement for the World Completion achievement has been removed and a new streaming client notification system has been implemented.
