The Lord of the Rings Online site has been updated with the latest patch notes. Update 23.2 will be deployed tomorrow, January 9th, and will bring a new raid into the game called The Anvil of Winterstith. The raid will not, however, open until January 10th. During the encounter, players will be able to take part in Tier 1 and Tier 2 and working to keep the Weeping Warrior “from adding the massive Frost-horde to his host”.

Lord of the Rings Online will be getting a big update today that brings a pair of Yuletide Festival instances into the game and a number of big changes to both the Beorning and Burglar classes among other, smaller, tweaks to others.

A lot of players are pretty jazzed about the Lord of the Rings Online Legendary server program that allows them to participate in the game “the way it was”, though with a few modern enhancements and additional races / classes to spice things up. Standing Stone considers it more than “just vanilla”, however, as new classes and races that were not present from the start will be playable and a number of technical improvements made since the initial launch will remain in place for a smoother, more bug free experience.

The Legendary server for Lord of the Rings Online now has a name: Anor. In addition, the team revealed that the start time for the “vanilla” LOTRO server will be on Thursday, November 8th at 9:00 am Pacific / 12:00 pm Eastern!

The Lord of the Rings Online team has posted a new thread on the official forums to let Beorning fans know that their time in the sun is coming “now that the main game balance is settling down a bit”. Players can expect smaller changes in terms of overall playability, but some big changes in terms of quality of life.

Starting next month, Lord of the Rings Online VIP and Lifetime VIP players will have an opportunity to play on the new “Legendary” server. Those joining up will enjoy LOTRO where it began and all players will start the journey on even footing. Content on the Legendary World server will start with the Shadows of Angmar story, with further content rolling out over time.
