A lot of folks are curious about game development and I think that my recent involvement with the amazing community of players around "Landmark" shows just how many folks want to know more. Players are not just passionate about the games that they play. They’re passionate about the entire industry.
The Underworld Ascendant team has released a brand new video to show off the Improvisation Engine that is being used in the game. With this engine mechanic in place, players are given the ultimate choice to interact with the world in a truly meaningful way.
A brand new producer’s letter has been published on the Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade site where Nathan Richardsson introduces himself and gives fans a bit of an update about the development of the game. Richardsson writes that the relative silence from Behaviour has been in large part due to the fact that the team is working on back end systems, but is also reviewing and revising the timeline to release of the game.

To be honest, there’s not a whole lot going on right now, other than the studio is still working on the game, particularly the first Early Access Module, but we’ll find some things to discuss anyway, good, bad and ugly, in no particular order.
This week I would like to introduce you to several of the best looking Minecraft-esque multiplayer games I have had the fortune to get my hands on, with the exception of Oort Online (I’ve yet to play it.) Honestly, though, it is a bit unfair to refer to these games as Minescraft "clones" or anything as limiting, for a few reasons.
Due to this column’s biweekly schedule, I’ve had a couple of weeks to think about the news that SOE was purchased by venture capitalist / technology investment firm Columbus Nova. During this fairly short span, we’ve already seen that the new owner isn’t hesitant to make significant personnel cuts at the newly renamed Daybreak Games. As is my wont, I can’t help wondering how this situation fits within and reflects the overall state of the MMOG genre.
Cosplayers unite and show off your best Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade look for the just-announced cosplay contest that will run from February 16th through March 31st. Cosplayers will be able to score several different prize packages that include Razer ‘tactical backpacks’, Xenos packs, lithographs and more.
A new trailer for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD has been released that features a good look at the characters in the game as well as divulging the information that, while the trailer is in Japanese with English subtitles, when the game releases on March 17th, players will be able to opt for full English voice overs. Wargaming is looking for beta testers for its upcoming collectible card game, World of Tanks: Generals. Players can sign up on the WoT: Generals site and help test the PvP mode and PvE training battles, as well as work with over two hundred cards to create custom decks.
