Heroes of the Storm has come a long way since the beginning of the technical alpha several months ago. This week, the closed beta for the highly anticipated MOBA begins and with it come several new features including ranked competitive game play and other game modes that will be of key interest to testers.
Webzen has announced that the latest Sevencore update has been applied that brings the Assassin playable class into the game alongside the Ancile Islands zone and a level cap increase from 60 to 80.
Fueling the fires of expansion rumors, it seems a brand new trademark has been filed by ArenaNet and NCsoft. As dug up on reddit, there’s also a new logo but little other news for now. Could this be the long-awaited expansion to Guild Wars 2?
MapleStory 2 will be entering its first phase of its Korean closed beta testing later this month. Included in the CBT will be three forms of PvP: 1v1, Free-for-All and Shadow World. MapleStory 2’s first round of beta testing will run from January 21st to January 25th.
Elite: Dangerous is a direct call to my childhood and to an arguably more ambitious time of gaming. Open ended, vast, and procedurally generated. The march of technology since the first Elite has only served to let Frontier Developments create the sort of game that they, and I, spent years imagining.
Heroes Charge is a dreadful game in some ways. It just is. I’d rather not waste your time and, frankly, my time, with attempting to flower this several-hundred-word column with attempts to describe the game’s systems and finer points. ArenaNet is ready to send Guild Wars 2 players on the final leg of the Living Story Season 2 with the launch of Point of No Return later today. Players and Pact members alike are ready to take the fight to Elder Dragon Mordremoth and his powerful minions which will doubtless bring a season-ending cliff hanger as well.
Aeria Games has sent word that its new MOBA, Chaos Heroes Online, is now part of the Steam games platform. Returning players transferring to the Steam client will be gifted a new limited time skin called the Scorching Battlefield Darae.
NeoGaf.com is reporting that the US Patent & Trademark Office has sent notification to Blizzard that all attempts to secure the name "Overwatch" have been suspended. The move comes as a result of conflict with another game that had filed for the same trademark six months prior to Blizzard. Overwatch, Blizzard’s entry into the MMOFPS market, was announced at November’s Blizzcon.
Age of Wulin, the EU version of Age of Wushu, will be expanding three times this year with Chapters 4-6. The first expansion, Betrayal and Forgiveness, will arrive in March and will see eight new playable factions added to the game as well as other new features and content.
