It certainly wasn’t a record-breaking year, but it was what I’d like to think of as the calm before the storm. Right around 2011, game developers collectively regrouped, realized that copying World of Warcraft probably isn’t the best idea, and took to this new thing called Kickstarter to bypass big, out-of-touch publishers to create what the people actually want.
Wargaming North America and Gamers Outreach are planning a special charity live stream on Friday, December 19th that will directly benefit Children’s Hospital Oakland. The event will run from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Pacific (12:00 – 6:00 pm Eastern) on Friday and will feature all of Wargaming’s titles as well as prizes and give aways.

Back in 2012 there was this little MMO darling that was loved by many, one that I personally wanted to try out but never got the chance to. That gem of a game was called Glitch. MMO bloggers that I follow spoke nothing but praise and the announcement of the shutdown hit fans hard. Thankfully, unlike many MMOs that shut down Tiny Speck was able to put the art and code from Glitch into the public domain.
Chilled Mouse has announced that it is working in a partnership with Games Workshop and Rodeo Games to bring Warhammer Quest for PC, Mac and Linux. The game is a mixture of roleplaying, strategy and adventure genres and will launch on January 7th.

It’s that time of the year again. Depending on where you live, snow is falling, wind is blowing, the air is chilly, and fireplaces are roaring. Or if you’re like me in Northern California, weather is slightly colder on most days, but generally sunny and not all that much different most of the time. Either way, it’s the Holiday Season.
ESTSoft has announced that Cabal 2 is ready to rock the world in 2015. In addition to the game’s announcement, ESTSoft revealed the Cabal 2 prelaunch site complete with beta sign ups for interested players. By signing up, players will gain access to the Cabal 2 forums and become eligible for the first focus test to take place on December 19th.
Square Enix has confirmed that two of its role-playing classics will be heading to PlayStation 4 in 2015. Both Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X will be released in the Spring. Final Fantasy VII will be priced at $15.99 and the remastered Final Fantasy X will set players back $49.99.
The Enklave team has sent word that it is midway through its KickStarter campaign to bring its post-apocalyptic augmented reality game to life. Created by developers who wanted more from their MMO, Enklave puts users on the go as they seek to find and control territories in the real world.
