Prepare to Die. Has there even been a more appropriate tagline for an RPG than From Software’s Dark Souls? In an age where accessibility seemed to be the mantra, the Dark Souls franchise seemed to stick out its chin in defiance. As "punishingly difficult" and "supremely rewarding" became its selling points, masses of players rallied under its mystique, guaranteeing the rest of the industry would answer. Lords of the Fallen is that answer. The question is: does it stack up?

KIXEYE has announced that its MOBA brawler, TOME, will launch on Steam on November 21st. The launch will arrive with a brand new 5v5 map called "Sanctuary".
Mind Candy is ready to unleash introductory information about its forthcoming title, World of Warriors. The game will be heading to the Apple App Store soon, though no specific date has been announced. World of Warriors takes aspects from action games, RPGs and epic strategy titles and blends them in to a new experience for players.
The Sony Online Entertaiment team has produced a series of videos to give budding cosplayers and Halloween connoisseurs a chance to look like their favorite Sony game characters. Tutorial videos include an H1Z1 zombie, a Leopard-inspired DCUO character, an EverQuest Next Dark Elf, a Planetside 2 Empires character and none other than SOE’s figurehead, EverQuest’s Firiona Vie.
"Overall, the total MMO category is on track to generate $11 billion in annual revenues by the end of this year…" This is one of the infobits released by research company SuperData to help promote its latest annual report on the category. While I don’t envision myself ponying up the current sale price of $2,000 in order to read the whole thing, this projection caught my interest, as did the 2014 YTD top 10 title list and more.
It’s that time of the year again. Pumpkins are carved on doorsteps, turkeys are cooking in ovens, and families are gathering around for the "happiest time of the year." With global events like the holiday season being upon us, MMO developers have always taken this opportunity to connect their games to the real world as much as possible.
Regardless of the culture of origin, seemingly all online games this year are holding some kind of Halloween event. Strategy game Forge of Empires is bringing back popular spook Jack O’Lantern October 22 until November 5. Korean company Webzen is also getting into the act with Halloween events for its games, Continent of the 9th Seal, Archlord 2, and MU Online.
The final countdown to the All Hallow’s Eve is on and online game makers are celebrating with a host of seasonal events. Darkfall Unholy Wars is adding new Feats and special candy-dropping monsters, while ArcheAge and Kings and Legends are opting for new costumes, decor and a new Pumpkin Lord card, respectively.
