Every year we get a little bit older, and the weight of responsibility of being a grown-up makes it harder to really get into the spirit of the season. That’s why this year I have decided to take a break from being an adult and make a list of unreasonable demands after having done nothing to deserve them.If these demands are not met, I will make a fuss and sulk all day.

Square Enix graciously offered us a chance to play Just Cause 3 ahead of its launch via Steam, citing that it’s very much an open world RPG set in a modern setting. Now, we won’t go so far to call it an RPG in a traditional sense, but there’s so much fun to be had in this game that we can forgive its linear story and lunatic physics. It’s a toy box of wonders for any kid who imagined blowing stuff up with his or her GI Joes for hours on end.
A new and quite different RPG is currently being developed by a therapist named Kyle Ballentine. The game is designed to give players pause to think of their character’s, and perhaps their own, inevitable decline and their mortality. Rather than level up, players level down as they move through the game. As skills are lost, players rethink battles and strategies.

Naxcore has sent along its announcement about Spatium, a different type of MMO currently seeking funding via KickStarter. The game is said to be one for those who enjoy terraforming, collecting resources, crafting and upgrading items in order to travel to other planets to explore. In addition, all backers will be integral in the inclusion of new items and features as development proceeds.
Just in time for ‘Black Friday’, Capcom has released a new trailer from its forthcoming Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen ARPG. The trailer precedes the upcoming release of the long-released console version for PC. Check it out and leave us your thoughts in the comments.
Tell me if this cycle sounds familiar to you: you spend a good part of the year playing through your backlog of video games in the lulls between major releases, only to fill it back up again once a Steam Sale hits. I myself am just cresting the wave of a number of older titles that have been collecting dust for some time (the most recent ventures include Shadow of Mordor, Super Mario 3D World, and A Link Between Worlds), and am simultaneously anticipating and avoiding holiday sales.
