We spend hours and hours discussing our favorite games and looking to what’s to come. In all of that, it’s easy to lose sight of how much we have to appreciate in the here and now. In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, and all of the people around the world who make our hobby possible, we’re devoting this special edition of the RPG Files to what we love in gaming. LVR Studio has sent word that its KickStarter initiative to raise funds for Pangaea: New World, a post-apocalyptic action MMO, has officially kicked off. The team is looking to raise $250,000 to complete the game for eventual release on PC, Mac, Playstation 4, and XBox One at the end of 2016.
MOBAs are the hottest new genre that it seems like every company needs to develop a game for, and NCsoft is no different. The key thing here is that Master X Master, which was announced some years ago and is expected to arrive in the latter half of 2016, isn’t just another MOBA. As part of my trip to Korea to check out NCsoft’s headquarters in Pangyo, South Korea, we also attended roughly a half hour of hands on time with Master X Master, including a preview of its PvE and PvP elements.
Recently, I decided to try out EA’s Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, a new Star Wars mobile game out on Android and iOS. For whatever reason, EA marketed this one as a collectible card game, which has led to some confusion, but this game is more comparable to a game like Marvel: Avengers Alliance.

During the heady days of post-Azeroth consumer boom and investor interest, the MMORPG was booming. So many new games… and so many that didn’t meet expectations of consumers or investors. Now, 11 years after the launch of World of Warcraft, it’s clearer now than ever before: we need a hero to save us from extinction.
Fans of Quake looking forward to the release of the ARPG, Bombshell, will be interested to hear that the game’s release has been delayed to January 29, 2016. In addition, the digital deluxe edition contents have been revealed. Bombshell’s standard edition will run $34.99, with the digital deluxe edition coming in at $39.99.
Sword Art Online is largely an unknown to me. I know it’s an anime, manga, and videogame series about a group of kids who play a virtual reality MMO known as Sword Art Online. I also know they the main characters were stuck in this world fighting to the death (as if you died you died in real life). It’s a pretty heady storyline, but Lost Song is my first real dive into the world of Sword Art Online.
