Cryptic Studios has sent word that the latest Neverwinter update has officially launched on PC. Called “The Cloaked Ascendancy”, the update brings the River District adventure zone online along with a new campaign, the reimagined Spellplague Caverns in epic difficulty, a new skirmish and new artifact weapons.

The latest developer blog has been posted to the Neverwinter site that lays out the first details about artifact equipment. Artifact gear will be found in the River District once The Cloaked Ascendancy launches. According to the post, Artifacts are abandoned items left behind that can be restored by using specific items and supplies. These are gained by completing the campaign and taking part in the events surrounding the Cloaked Ascendancy.

Neverwinter players will be happy to hear that the Challenge of the Gods is making a return to the game starting on Thursday, February 9th. The challenge will end on Wednesday, February 15th. During the event, players take on special challenges in the names of the gods that include killing ten enemies without using Daily Powers or by using Daily Powers three times in five minutes.
