VesperArcade analyzes Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition’s possible new V-Triggers

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is breathing new life into Capcom’s most popular fighting game. While so far we know that every character is getting new V-Triggers, we don’t have a clear idea yet of what they are. However, we have screenshots!

VesperArcade provides an analytical overview of the screenshots available so far of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. He starts with an image of Menat that features a Japanese city, which could possibly be a new stage. Moving on to gameplay matters, he begins by saying that we’re not sure if there will be new V-Skills as well — just new V-Triggers. Starting with Ryu, they talk about him likely having a new two-bar V-Trigger that looks like a Focus Attack. The translation of the new V-Trigger, “Kakko Fubatsu” means things like “unwavering,” “steadfast,” etc. Maybe we’ll see Evil Ryu come back?

M. Bison also has a two-bar V-Trigger. There’s a bit more speculation surrounding his new power. There’s some kind of crumble effect after hitting with it, as evidenced by the screenshot with Cammy. The video continues with looks at Rashid, Chun-Li, Birdie, R. Mika, Ken, and Dhalsim.

We also recently found out that DLC codes will be used to get the new characters for the retail version of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.

GamerFinger is returning with a new revision of their silent HBFS buttons

Several years ago, Taiwanese manufacturer GamerFinger took siege of the FGC with their HBFS buttons. Their silent, mechanical switch buttons hit a unique niche in the market. Unfortunately, they weren’t without flaws: the first version saw issues with the switch tabs falling off of the buttons, and the second version saw the snap-in tabs too stiff, making them difficult to put into a case, or remove.

The third time appears to be the charm, as GamerFinger was at TWFighter Major over the weekend, showcasing their third version of the buttons, the HBFS G3. These appear to solve both issues, with standard switch tabs to connect your wiring to. They also seem to have gone a route similar to Crown’s 203C buttons, and made them both threaded and snap-ins — meaning you can choose to either snap or screw the buttons into your case.

While no public release date has been set, we’ll keep you updated on this exciting technical development.

Check out these humorous sets between Nakao’s Jubei and Garireo’s Litchi

Maybe Jubei hasn’t made as much of a splash onto the competitive scene as some players hoped, but there might still be some hope for the character. Even if he isn’t as viable, it’s good to see two pro BlazBlue: Central Fiction players duke it out in a fun set. PNS|Garireo, who recently triumphed at CEOtaku 2017, takes on Nakao’s Jubei in a best to three.

Litchi shows just how oppressive she can get in Garireo’s skilled hands. Though Nakao does make the fight look pretty even, it’s not easy at all. It’s pretty close, but Litchi edges out the win in the first set. That Astral attempt though…

In the second video, Garireo starts out dominant, and Nakao is barely able to land even a hit. The kitty cat does surmount a comeback, however. It’s definitely an uphill battle for Nakao, especially in neutral, because Litchi covers the screen so well and can confirm into good corner carry. However, Nakao shows some pretty impressive skills with Jubei.

Check out all three sets below, which are worth to watch even just to see two highly skilled players having some entertaining matches.

See Spider-Man become “Superior” in this Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite premium costume trailer

With Spider-Man: Homecoming recently receiving its digital release, fans of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite may want to consider grabbing the film from the PlayStation Store or Xbox Live Marketplace, as it will come bundled with the web head’s wave 1 premium DLC costume. It allows Peter Parker to don the look of the “Superior Spider-Man,” from a time when Doctor Octopus took over his body in the comics, compete with the extra appendages.

We’ve shown you the suit’s alternate colors (Spider-Gwen, Superior Venom, and the Iron Spider), but now Marvel and Capcom are ready to show it off in action with a trailer — just as they did with both the PlayStation 4-exclusive Major Carol Danvers and deluxe edition-exclusive Command Mission X, Evil Ryu, Warrior Thor, and Gladiator Hulk costumes, which you can see below.

For those who don’t wish to purchase the MCU’s latest film, the outfit will eventually be sold individually for $3.99.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam PC. Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently available via digital download, and will be released on Blu-Ray October 17th.

– MindArk’s New Tech Thinks Businesses Are Primed for ‘Ready Player One’

If you’ve read Ernest Cline’s “Ready Player One”, you’ve taken a peek into what he believes is a dystopian future for humanity. The world is embroiled in social and economic issues. Everyone has turned to OASIS, a “virtual reality simulator” where people work, learn and play. MindArk (Entropia Universe) is ready to bring at least part of OASIS to businesses with their new VR program that “introduces a new level of social interaction to mundane conference calls”.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Black Panther and Monster Hunter Funko Pop figures shown off at NYCC

As some of you may know, Funko is putting out a line of their Funk Pop! figures for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. At the New York Comic Con, two new additions to the line were announced at the World of Capcom panel. Joining the already revealed Funko Pop figures are DLC characters Black Panther and Monster Hunter.

As with the previously revealed figures, the ones for Black Panther and Monster Hunter will come as a two pack with both figures together. Also, again like the previous figures these will be available in an alternate color, as well as their default in game color.

Raiden will be banned for the entirety of the ELEAGUE Injustice 2 World Championships; including Last Chance Qualifier

Yesterday,  ELEAGUE announced its latest ruling for the upcoming Injustice 2 World Championships. Despite protecting Earthrealm for centuries, this will be one event that the god of thunder Raiden will be unable to participate in.

Releasing earlier this week as part of Fighter Pack 2 and in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Mortal Kombat, Raiden will officially be banned from the entirety of ELEAGUE, including the event’s Last Chance Qualifiers. This is common practice regarding the usage of new DLC characters in competitive circuits, as players may have not had adequate time to prepare for the match-up and game-breaking bugs may still exist for newer characters.

The ELEAGUE Injustice 2 World Championship will begin on October 21st, with a Last Chance Qualifier event to determine the last two members of the bracket of the 16 best players of the game today, as they battle for supremacy in Group Play later this month. You can find full details on the LCQ here.

New update to Unreal Engine 4 will reduce baseline input latency, affecting games like Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V

While we are no longer suffering through Street Fighter V‘s eight frames of input lag, many modern-day fighters are still struggling to reduce input latency. Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is clocked at having exactly six frames of input delay — at least on the PS4 version — meaning that some developers have yet to crack the five frame barrier.

Much of this stems from these games running on Unreal Engine 4, which natively has around three to four frames of input lag. As a result, fighting game developers already have an uphill battle in making games as responsive as possible. However, an upcoming update to Unreal Engine 4 aims to cut its native input latency by around two frames for games running at 60hz.

According to Unreal Engine developer Epic Games, the 4.19 update to Unreal Engine 4 will reduce input latency “by around 66ms” for 30hz games, with “the reduction [being] around half that in a 60Hz title”. With a single frame being around 16.667ms, we’re looking at a potential two frame input lag reduction for any fighting game running on Unreal 4.

This is not a direct reduction of course; developers will have to do some work on their end to utilize this engine optimization but it bodes well for those wanting hyper-responsive fighting games.

The Final Fight 2 Mad Gear Gang CFN character profiles continue: as Private Nakagawa continues to unveil Shadaloo’s collected information on Retsu’s notorious gang, who nearly staged a coup of Metro City.

Next up on the list is Atlas.

Private Nakagawa: “His trained body is his weapon. The whole town fears him for his violent attitude. He drinks right from the morning, and is a troublesome fellow, who immediately comes to hug you.” [In FF2, Atlas did a very annoying Bear Hug.]

Next, we move on to his partner, Jony:

Private Nakagawa: “A big guy who’s quick to take offense and lose his cool. Wow, scary! Haste makes waste!” [The Japanese expression 短期は損気 tanki wa sonki “Short temper is an inconvenience” is commonly translated this way — while not completely identical to the English one.]

Moving on, we take a look at Jack’s partner, Schot:

Private Nakagawa: “A man with a fired-up hairstyle. It’s incredibly mook-like!! One of those who go ‘yahoo!’ you know. [An evident reference to Fist of the North Star‘s standard mooks, perpetually grinning and screaming excitedly, and often sporting the same punk hairstyle.] …Oh, is he angry?”

Also earns some pocket money working as an underling for a certain organization. He often causes trouble because of his attitude being prone to brawls.”

Finally, we move on to the last member of this incarnation of the Mad Gear Gang: Bull’s partner Elijah.

Private Nakagawa: “A man who serves as a smuggler for a criminal organization. Reports indicate that he’s tied to numerous organizations. It seems he’s able to be trusted, because he’s not only tight-lipped, but he also has a human side.”

Triggered by a superhero movie he’s recently seen, he began dressing smartly and wearing a goatee and a moustache. He lives in the downtown area with his mother. The two constantly quarrel, but that’s proof they’re close.”

That’s it for all of the Mad Gear Gang members — but characters like the Genryusai family and the Skull Cross Gang of 1995’s Final Fight 3 still have yet to be covered, so we’ll likely dive back into the streets of Metro City in the weeks and months ahead. Poongko will compete at Canada Cup at the end of October, following his appearance at TWFighter Major

Last month, Chung-gon “Poongko” Lee stated that he was sitting out on the remainder of the Capcom Pro Tour events this season, with the possibility that he wouldn’t return next season as well. While the circumstances surrounding these tweets aren’t fully known, Poongko isn’t out of the game just yet.

Recent tweets have shown that Poongko has rescinded his departure from the circuit, shown by his presence at TWFighter Major this weekend, where he achieved 25th place. He will also compete at Canada Cup at the end of October as well. His gamble-style and mixup-heavy Kolin has been a treat to watch, and hopefully these final tournaments will give Poongko the points he needs to compete at his year’s Capcom Cup.
