Ryan Burnett (17-0, 9 KOs) captured the IBF bantamweight title when he defeated defending champion Lee Haskins (34-4, 14 KOs) on Saturday night at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The Northern Irishman floored Haskins twice on the way to a points victory, despite a shocking scorecard from American judge Clark Sammartino who scored the fight 118-108 in favor of Haskins.
It looks like Sammartino may have got the fighters names mixed up. Fortunately the other two judges scored it…
2GGC: ARMS Saga is confirmed as July’s Saga event
With 2GGC: Nairo Saga currently underway, 2GGaming has confirmed the Saga for next month. Following a call fro feedback on their Twitter page, the next Saga event will be dedicated to Nintendo’s upcoming springy-limbed fighter, ARMS. Along with the usual Super Smash Bros. for Wii U singles and doubles events, there will also be a dedicated tournament for ARMS.
Well then #2GGC #ARMSSaga it is!
Hope y'all ready to catch these ARMS https://t.co/ZOjkflJwLd
— 2GGC #NairoSaga (@2GGaming) June 8, 2017
As this Saga is boxing-related, 2GGaming is planning to have a player compendium to bring Little Mac mains from around the world to Esports Arena. According to the initial tweet, there may also be a special Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots tournament to see who is the true king of the ring.
With Nintendo recently launching their NintendoVS initiative, we could finally see the company having an official presence at a 2GG event with ARMS Saga. The conspiracy theorist in me says that ARMS Saga is the start of an elaborate collaboration between the Big N and 2GG, with the rumored Pokémon Saga being delayed until September to coincide with the launch of Pokkén Tournament DX. We’ll see if my suspicions are correct next week, during Nintendo’s Treehouse presentations at E3.

– Bioware Reveals (Not Much) About Its New Game, Anthem
Bioware had a brief moment in today’s EA Play conference. Its still pretty-much-unannounced game at least has a name. Called “Anthem”, we got a tiny hint from a single line, “The wall protects us from what lies beyond”. From what was said during today’s event, more will be revealed on Sunday, June 12th at 2:00 pm Pacific / 5:00 pm Eastern during Day 2 of EA Play.
Top Injustice 2 players discuss a variety of topics in Yahoo! Esports’ “FGC Candid”
With Injustice 2 being the fourth fighting game under NetherRealm Studios’ belt in seven years, the ever-growing scene’s top players have had plenty of things to say about how the latest DC brawler compares to previous entries in the franchise. The Combo Breaker top 8, which included players like Echo Fox|Sonic Fox, Noble|Dragon, Circa|Forever King and NASR|Tekken Master, sat down with Yahoo Esports for the initial episode of “FGC Candid,” a roundtable discussion on a variety of topics related to the new game.
They issue a stern warning to any Capcom players who think they’ll have an easy ride when joining the Injustice 2 Pro Series, the ‘NRS cycle’ of game releases, as well as offering tips to newer players looking to enter the scene. It’s an enlightening discussion from the panel, providing a unique look at all eight of these strong players. You can see the full video below.

Nintendo’s competitor lineup for its E3 ARMS and Pokkén DX tournaments includes Alex Valle, Justin Wong, Kayane, and more
The brand new Twitter account NintendoVS seems to be setup as Nintendo’s esports hub, and it’s been christened with a smattering of press releases for their E3 invitational tournaments.

For the appendage flinging ARMS, four FGC specialists will compete against four competitors who have triumphed in the open invitational events.
The invitees are:
- Alex “Calipower” Valle, Mr. Street Fighter himself
- Kelsy “SuperGirlKels” Medeiros, Canadian Smash 4 Sonic player
- Daniel “Tafokints” Lee, host of Yahoo! Esports’ Melee Science and coach of C9|Mango
- Marie-Laure “Kayane” Norindr, legendary Soul Calibur player
The open format could result in a E3 attendee taking home the crown, particularly since the requirement to compete first forces them through a trail by fire. Can the FGC pros win on fundamentals alone?
Excited to be part of the 2017 #ARMS Open Invitational event at #E3 . What character(s) should I try? https://t.co/ayQNZFTQbr

The Pokkén DX Invitational is a closed 4v4 crew battle with a mixture of FGC figures and YouTube personalities.
- Matthew “MatPat” Patrick, host of Game Theory
- Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada, pro Smash 4 player and rank 3 on the Panda Global Rankings
- J.D. Witherspoon, comedian
- Allister “Allister” Singh, Pokkén pro
- Justin Wong, legendary Marvel and Street Fighter player
- Ken “LiquidKen” Hoang, the original King of Smash
- Andre Medaows, YouTube personality
- Stephanie Patrick, co-host of GT Live
With Allister being the event’s only actual Pokkén player, it’s fairly easy to predict which team will win… unless they are handicapped by picking a new character. Pokkén’s rule set dictates that one member from each team must pick one of the 5 new DX characters: Darkrai, Decidueye, Empoleon, Croagunk, or Scizor.
Both events will be streamed on June 14th at e3.nintendo.com.

Get your timing right with these input frame counter mods for Tekken 7 and The King of Fighters XIV on PC
Getting the timing of inputs right is an important thing for all players to master in any fighting game. This is especially true for combo-heavy fighting games such as Tekken 7 and The King of Fighters XIV. To help players learn this skill, a couple of mods have been developed for the PC versions of both games that show the exact number of frames between each input.
The mod for Tekken 7 was developed by Altimor, and can be downloaded here. The mod in question displays the frame count on top of each input when the input display is turned on.
The mod by Loïc Petit for The King of Fighters XIV’s PC beta works the same way. However, what’s interesting here is that the feature itself is actually built into the game — it’s just been hidden by SNK. The mod, which you can download here, simply enables it.
#KOFXIV So I've seen tekken input frame count. And you know what? It's already inside KOF! It's just… not enabled for some reason. pic.twitter.com/TVM21vXa1I
— Loïc Petit (@WydD) June 8, 2017
Why this feature was hidden is odd, especially since, as ATRyoSakazaki has pointed out, it was visible during development. Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen an input frame counter in a fighting game. Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late actually has this available without any mods!
Hopefully, we’ll get to see more of these tools in the future — either as mods for existing games, or actually built into them.

Get to know Senko no Ronde 2’s Cuilan, Henri, Luca, and Shinobu
As previously reported, Senko no Ronde 2 is coming to PlayStation 4 and PC later this year. This latest installment in G.rev’s hybrid fighting game/shoot ’em up franchise is a “reboot” of Senko No Ronde DUO, originally released for arcades and Xbox 360.
To help get players get reacquainted with the game’s cast, the team has been releasing a series of character trailers. This latest batch of trailers focuses on Cuilan, Henri, Luca, and Shinobu.
For the other character trailers, check out our previous coverage of the game.
Senko no Ronde 2 hits PlayStation 4 and PC (via Steam) on September 7.
“Dragon Ball Fighters” is coming in early 2018, developed by Arc System Works
Moving from Guilty Gear to Dragon Ball, Bandai Namco have announced a collaboration with Arc System Works for a new anime fighting game. Named Dragon Ball Fighters, the game has players selecting teams of three characters from the Dragon Ball universe to duke it out in “ultra high speed battles,” according to Bandai Namco’s Japanese press release.

Similar to Guilty Gear Xrd, Dragon Ball Fighters will be a 2.5D fighter, in order to include dramatic camera angles and character expressions that you wouldn’t normally see in a traditional 2D fighter. Based on the screenshots from the leaked press release, Goku, Vegeta, Maijin Buu, Freeza and Cell will be playable, along with a sixth yet unidentified character. Based on the hero/villain character line-up, I could hazard a guess that it will either be Gohan or Future Trunks.

This announcement was supposed to come out during E3 on June 12th, so expect a potential trailer during Sony’s press conference on Monday. A Marvel-esque Dragon Ball game made by Arc System Works sounds like a dream come true for many fans, so let’s hope any footage we do see lives up to the hype. Dragon Ball Fighters is planned to release worldwide in early 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Relive Combo Breaker’s Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 top 8, the culmination of the biggest REV 2 tournament so far
This year’s Combo Breaker in St. Charles, IL, was memorable for many reasons. Not only did it comfortably house nearly every competitive game you’d like to play, but it also fit in more Guilty Gear participants than any tournament this year so far. As essentially the premiere tournament for REV 2 in the United States, this is the biggest event yet for the recently-published console update.
Alongside explanatory English commentary to continue bringing you up on the novelties of the latest version, enjoy a good variety of characters in this top 8. There’s a bunch of sponsored players competing, with some impressive members of the community. BxA|dotNova’s Jack’O is up first against daymendou’s Slayer. That’s followed up by previous Guilty Gear Combo Breaker champion ElvenShadow and his Faust, fighting Xcel|BjornSonOfBear’s renowned Chipp Zanuff. Make sure to not miss out on the hype match between PG|MarlinPie’s excellent Zato=1 versus Foo’s Kum Haehyun, a rarely-seen character that’s proving stronger thanks to some buffs.
And finally, take notice of how solid Fable|Kizzie Kay’s Sin is, but note also CO|Dogura’s rise through the Losers bracket with his new and improved Raven.
