Wavedash Games reveal their next fighter, the hired gun Raymer

Following teases both in April and earlier this month, Wavedash Games have released some more information about the next character coming to their platform fighter. Named Raymer, this hired gun uses his dual pistols to “force opponents to play on his terms.” As you can guess from his chosen weapons, Raymer will be a zoning character who I imagine will frustrate his opponents with a constant barrage of projectiles, before closing the gap to finish them off.

According to his character description, he has a “disdain for less talented fighters,” with his zoning no doubt exhibiting how Raymer likes to “play with his food” before finishing them off. With his blonde hair and clear high opinion of himself, I can’t help but feel Raymer is inspired by TSM|Leffen, similar to how Kidd is inspired by C9|Mango. There will no doubt be some catty character interactions between these two fighters in the full game.

Again, still no footage of Raymer in action just yet, but expect him to feature in the long-awaited gameplay reveal of Wavedash’s project later in the summer. If they could unveil a game title at the same time, that’d be great.

Japanese retailer lists “Pokkén Tournament” compatibility for HORI Switch arcade stick, then retracts listing

Hori Officially Announces Nintendo Switch Fight Stick

Reported via Nintendo Life, Japanese retailer Sinobi listed Pokkén Tournament as compatible with HORI’s Nintendo Switch arcade stick. This leads to a number of questions, the most obvious being: “Pokkén Tournament is on the Switch?!”

Offering no solace to the hopeful, however, Sinobi retracted the compatibility listing and stated it was posted in error. It could be a simple flub on the retailers part, but Street Fighter players know that these “accidents” can actually reveal pretty big future announcements. Exhibit A: Ed.

One does have to wonder how you accidentally announce compatibility for a game that doesn’t exist yet, on a peripheral never officially used to play Pokkén before.
