Carl “Perfect Legend” White joins Evolved as a player manager

For the most part, when an organization signs a player, it’s so that they can compete under their banner. However, occasionally, a player will get signed to help manage other players: such is the case with Carl “Perfect Legend” White, who has recently joined Evolved as a player manager.

In joining Evolved, Perfect Legend will now be involved with the organization in helping any future fighting game players that they sign. What he won’t be doing however is competing under their banner; Perfect Legend has confirmed that he is still with Stream.me as a player.

Evolved is a talent agency that represents, in their own words, “the biggest and brightest stars in the world of YouTube, streaming and esports.” As part of this, they’re involved in representation, contract negotiation, and brand building for said talents.

Perfect Legend on the other hand has made a name for himself as a tournament player in multiple games. He is tied for fourth in terms of overall Evo championship wins (alongside John Choi, Alex Valle, Shinya “Nuki” Ohnuki, and Dominique “Sonic Fox” McLean).

We here at Shoryuken wish Evolved and Perfect Legend the best in this new relationship.

Pop Culture Shock has some amazing–and expensive–new Chun-Li statues coming next year

Pop Culture Shock Collectibles has done its fair share of premium Street Fighter statues over the past couple of years. From their original Cammy statue, to their recent Juri piece, their statues have generally been some of the most amazing representations of Street Fighter characters ever cast. However, their latest statue seems to want to eclipse their previous work both in size and in price.

The recently announced 1:3 Chun-Li statue from Pop Culture Shock is both their largest and most expensive one yet. Set to release sometime next year, this statue comes in three distinct variants. The base “Classic Qipao” version featuring her original outfit costs a whopping $925. If that’s a bit too expensive, then there are the “Street Fighter Alpha” and “Battle Dress” variants that go for a slightly less wallet-wrecking $900.

The cost, of course, isn’t just because of the size–with each statue standing at 30″ (76 cm) tall–but also because of the amount of detail. The clothing on each statue is made from actual cloth and comes packed with little details, such as the embroidery on the white fabric on the waist of her qipao, or the ribbons on her hair.

These statues are set to be released in the fourth quarter of 2018. This should give prospective buyers enough time to save up (or sell some organs) before pre-orders for it open sometime in the near future. In the meantime: feel free to salivate over these images of the upcoming statues.

Exdeath, Final Fantasy V’s main villain, joins the Dissidia Final Fantasy Arcade roster

The wait for Noctis continues! Teasing a new character announcement last week, Square Enix have confirmed that the latest character coming to Dissidia Final Fantasy Arcade is the evil warlock Exdeath. Much like his Dissidia 012 incarnation, Exdeath mainly fights using his mastery of magic, only occasionally using his sword to swat away foes so he can continue his magical onslaught.

Exdeath also brings a new stage to Dissidia, based off the crystalline Castle Exdeath seen in Final Fantasy V. For a sentient tree demon living inside a blue suit of armor, Exdeath has done pretty well for himself. The villain and his stage will be added in Dissidia’s early May update. For those waiting on the console announcement, the best bet is to keep your fingers crossed for E3 in June.

Check out the unique inputs of Street Fighter V newcomer Ed’s moves

One of the unique things about Street Fighter V’s upcoming new character Ed is the unique way in which his special moves are performed, at least for the Street Fighter series. Somewhat similar to Nelson from the The King of Fighters XIV, Ed uses only a combination of button inputs to execute. This has brought about questions of what exactly these inputs are, and how certain things–such as EX versions–will be handled.

For those wondering about these things, wonder no more, as Capcom has released Ed’s command list on the official Street Fighter V website.

One of the interesting things that can be seen in the movelist is how only three of Ed’s moves have EX versions. One of these, Psycho Upper, requires all three punch buttons to be pressed to activate the EX version (as confirmed by Capcom’s Harrison over reddit). This, as well as the other inputs in the list, should make Ed an interesting (and maybe challenging) character to play, especially for pad players.

For those looking forward to try these out, Ed will be playable in the upcoming beta for Street Fighter V’s next round of balance changes. In the meantime, here are some new screenshots of Ed.

The King of Fighters XIV is coming to Steam, closed beta and pre-orders this month

Players of The King of Fighters XIV at home have so far only one option: Sony’s PlayStation 4. Those who came into the series via the PC releases of past King of Fighters games have been so far left out; that, however, will be ending soon.

At a recent press conference in China, SNK’s Yasuyuki Oda officially revealed that The King of Fighters XIV will be coming to PC via Steam. As part of this, they also confirmed that players would be able pre-order the game this month. Also coming this month is a closed beta test to iron out any bugs that may crop up with the port.

Further details on this have yet to be revealed. In the meantime, here’s a video from the conference where they announce the port.

– Elder Scrolls Anthology Literally Saves Someone’s Life

Never underestimate the awesome power of a large pack of game disks packed into an extra wide specially marked case. A Reddit user named RabbitMix was just hanging out at home sitting at his PC, his copy of Elder Scrolls Anthology sitting in front of him. Without warning, POP! Not fully understanding what it was he had heard, he noticed a puff of drywall dust raining down on the Anthology. Turning the case over, he noticed that a bullet had pierced through several layers & disks.

Stream.Me announces “Battle of the Gods” series for Injustice 2

Last night, following the conclusion of Season 2 of the Kombat Cup, the folks behind Stream.Me threw down the gauntlet to the successor of the series: War of the Gods for Injustice 2! Like the Cup, there will be a series of weekly online tournaments open to all legal residents of the United States and Canada, to earn points, as well as some cash prizes, to qualify for the Season Finale in September, where the top 8 players will battle for the title of War of the Gods Champion. A total prize pool of $15,000 will be on the line in the first Season, with $10,000 being paid out to the finale’s top 6 players.

As always bracket entry is completely free, and since Injustice 2 is a T-rated game, the previous age restriction for Kombat Cup has been removed–though any heroes and villains under the age of 16 will require their parent’s information before any winnings they acquire can be paid out electronically. The series will be run on PlayStation 4 due to popular demand, but Stream.Me has indicated that they will have something in the works for the Xbox One community in the future, so keep your fingers crossed.

Unlike the Kombat Cup, preliminary brackets will now be run on Saturdays, with all top 8s taking place on Tuesdays. In addition, all brackets will now be double-elimination format, a luxury previously only afforded to competitors in the Season Finale, making the competition that much more fierce. The competition begins on Saturday, May 20th, a mere four days after the game’s launch. Will you be ready in time to compete?

The event will be broadcast at https://www.stream.me/war. Sign-ups are now open at Gauntlet GG. For more information, you can follow Stream.Me on Twitter, or check out their official blog, which has provided a full schedule for the Season, which you can see below.

This is certainly great news for fans and online warriors of Injustice 2 alike, as this will not 0nly provide some great competition and potential payouts to players who may be unable to travel to offline events, but it further supplements the esports presence of the DC brawler, alongside the previously announced Gamestop Hometown Heroes tournament circuit, and the Injustice 2 Championship Series.

Injustice 2 will be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16th.
