Tekken 7: Fated Retribution video montage showcases Story Mode gameplay

Eager to know how Story Mode plays out in the upcoming Tekken 7: Fated Retribution? It’s actually more interactive that one would assume.

In a gameplay montage from GameSpot, we see a couple of plot points that already have been revealed, like training between Child Kazuya and Heihachi (which serves a bit as a tutorial). Nina Williams briefly shows up on the screen before the action switches to Heihachi kicking soldier butt. There’s also some father-son bonding time over destroying a horde of Jack-4s. It’s good to see English and Japanese voice-overs working in tandem.

Interestingly, the Story cutscenes involve some quick-time events. Get ready to encounter new “press X to throw Kazuya into the volcano” memes.

Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 overview video released, confirms Steam DLC release date as June 1st

As we near the official release of Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, we’re slowly starting to see some Answers to many pending questions: when are we going to get a demo, what about the PC version, and so on. There’s a little bit of great news to share on both counts.

First, Arc System Works released a new overview video. The description mentions the Steam version of the game, and states June 1st as the release date, just a few days after console (May 25th for Japan, May 26th in other parts of the world). It’s really good news for those who prefer the PC version (and many do, particularly for the better netplay).

Shini also confirmed in another tweet that there won’t be a demo for the PC version. Demo news may be coming soon, however (very soon, look closely…):

With that out of the way, enjoy the overview video below, which is a great way to introduce newcomers to the world of Guilty Gear (though only in Japanese, currently). The video introduces Baiken and Answer, and extensively goes over the expanded and improved online lobby features.

ARMS gets experimental with a new character announcement: Helix

After a quite spell, Nintendo has become quite chatty about ARMS, their Switch-exclusive punch ’em up. The other day they gave us some more information on colors and weaponry, and now they’re showing off some of their trademark creativity with the newest character in the ARMS roster: Helix.

Having been created at ARMS Laboratory Inc–suggesting some story connections–Helix can change shape at will with his fluid body. He’s a strange-looking character, but appears to have some powerful weaponry in his arsenal, including strong zoning tools. Watching him bounce around the place in a variety of forms is also good fun, though may prove to have a strategic purpose too: this guy looks hard to hit!

With Nintendo seemingly happy to open up about ARMS as we approach its June release date, here’s hoping for a few more reveals in the weeks to come.

– Crowns of Power Fans Buy Out Game from Developers

Crowns of Power, an MMO developed by Rampid Interactive, originally debuted in 2008, though shut down in 2011. Usually that is the end of a story. However, an intrepid group of fans who missed their favorite MMO got in touch with members of the original team and have successfully purchased the development and publication rights to Crowns of Power.

Darkseid brings forth the wrath of Apokolips in his official Injustice 2 gameplay trailer

While we caught our first in-game glimpse of him via a pre-match intro compilation, we now finally get to see Injustice 2 pre-order character Darkseid in action, as his official gameplay trailer was released during tonight’s special stream from Los Angeles.

After confirming his status as a God with Brainiac, Darkseid–who is unsurprisingly a Power character–unleashes a teleport, a command grab, and a variety of Omega Beams to assault his foes from all angles of the screen. He can also call forth one of his Parademons to unleash tandem attacks and supplement his zoning, in a manner eerily similar to summoner Quan Chi’s bat, or Atrocitus’s Red Lantern cat Dex-Starr. We also get another look at his super, in which he fires a seemingly player-controlled Omega Beam that leads into the full animation if it connects.

Submit to his rule by watching the video below, and check back tomorrow when the final character of the base roster–The Joker, according to leaked achievements and footage–is offically revealed.

Injustice 2 releases for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16th.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] will have one more console character, according to Amazon Japan listing

As we reported, the update to Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st], will include a new character, Enkidu. As information slowly trickles out before its Japanese release on July 20th, the Amazon Japan pre-order listing unexpectedly included an interesting tidbit.

The Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] Amazon Japan page states that “a total of 4 characters will enter for the first time.” Phonon and Mika are two, Enkidu is the third character, and the fourth has yet to be revealed. Speculation circles around Uzuki and Erika Wagner.

Stay tuned, until French Bread officially confirms the character.

Capcom has hidden an X-Men tease in one of Street Fighter V’s new colors

The recent update to Street Fighter V included a batch of new colors for the characters’ Story and Battle outfits, added colors numbered 11-15 for each. Among these, one of Cammy’s Battle outfit colors is particularly interesting.

Color 15 of Cammy’s battle outfit looks suspiciously like one of the iconic outfits of a certain X-Men team leader. Now, while some would say that this is only coincidence, the accompanying description from Sgt. Ashida adds: “Color 15… You don’t think she can fire off an optic blast, can she?!” This leaves no doubt that this is a shout-out to Cyclops.

In addition to this, color 14 of the same outfit could be yet another X-Men reference. This time, the purple and blue outfit resembles Psylocke, another prominent X-Men character, who has also appeared in various Marvel vs. Capcom titles.

Using Cammy for these shout-outs is fitting, since she was a staple of the Versus series; she debuted her iconic “Killer Bee” look in X-Men vs. Street Fighter long before she returned to Street Fighter in the home version of Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold.

The question now is whether or not this is a hint regarding the inclusion of X-Men characters in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite! Despite being series icons, there’s speculation that X-Men characters may not make the cut in MvC:I, due to various license concerns with Fox. We’ll learn more about this as Capcom reveals more information on the game in the coming months.
