It’s a Christmas Miracle! Capcom Releases Full Patch Notes for Street Fighter V Season Two

They’re finally here boys and girls. In a post over on Capcom Unity, Capcom has posted the entire change-log for Season Two of Street Fighter V for everyone to study in readiness for tomorrow. Forget reading Daigo’s book over this Christmas, expect Street Fighters to be glued to their copies of the Season Two patch notes over the festive period.

Seeing as the notes come to about 92 pages of changes and it would take ages to recap the highlights here, Capcom have put all the information together in a handy PDF for players to download and read at their pleasure. As such, you can search for specific characters and see exactly what has changed and what has stayed the same between Season One and Season Two.

Don’t forget that alongside Akuma and the Season Two balance changes, the special seasonal DLC, along with Ryu’s B-Boy and Chun-Li’s B-Girl costumes will be available for purchase tomorrow. You can buy the whole holiday bundle for a discounted price of $19.99/€19.99/£15.99 and remember that they will disappear come the end of the Christmas season, so buy now to avoid having to wait till next year to hear the amazing ‘Christmas in New York’ theme while playing.

Check out Capcom Unity for all the information on this Season Two mega update and click here to download the patch notes PDF for your own personal use.

Big Potential Damage Changes are Coming in Killer Instinct Patch 3.6, and Iron Galaxy Confirms Kilgore as a New Fighter

It seems tomorrow is the big day for fighting game patches, as Iron Galaxy is also releasing a big balance patch for Killer Instinct on December 20th. The main focus for KI Patch 3.6 is to respond to the recent balance survey about potential damage, which asked players if the damage regained from successfully combo breaking should be tweaked.

Seeing as guess breaking is so powerful in KI Season 3, this potential damage change should still ensure players land damage on their opponent, no matter how many times they guess break. You now gain only 50% of your potential damage when you successfully combo break and you start regenerating that left over grey health after three seconds, rather than one second. As well as encouraging people to try for longer combos, this change also cut down the amount of post-combo breaker scrambles that tend to happen, as there is less reward for continuously hitting that breaker.

This change is also to nerf ARIA, who Iron Galaxy thinks is the best character in Season 3 right now. As you are now still racking up damage on your bodies even after successful combo breaks, ARIA players are now forced to switch between different bodies to keep all their combat options open. This stops ARIA mains from simply staying in the same body, rather than switching to preserve the health of an important but damaged body.

This patch does hit quite a few characters with the nerf bat, with Fulgore receiving heavy changes to his meter gain while in Instinct, Spinal’s meter gain off Searing Skull getting reduced by 25% and Arbiter’s Overhead and Lunging Slash becoming less safe on block, among other things.

Iron Galaxy has also confirmed the existence of Kilgore, with this robot coming to Killer Instinct in January. This early Ultratech prototype has two miniguns for arms and can jet around the stage with some rocket boosters in his feet. While he is not yet playable, there is a chance to fight against Kilgore in Shadow Lords mode by reaching a certain point. Some say that by reaching the Forgotten Laboratory with ARIA, you can battle up to 3 Kilgore units for a sneak peek of his eventual kit.

Read all of the patch notes, check out the patch rundown below and prepare for more KI content, including new fighters in 2017.

Dissidia Final Fantasy Arcade Adds Rabanastre Stage from Final Fantasy XII in Its December Content Update

Continuing to develop the three versus three arcade fighter, Square Enix and Koei Tecmo have revealed the new stage coming to Dissidia Final Fantasy Arcade in its December content update. Coming from Final Fantasy XII and the hometown of protagonist Vaan, Rabanastre has players fighting within the castle grounds of this capital city.

As the fight rages on, the skybox of Rabanastre lights up as airships do battle with the Sky Fortress Bahamut, replicating one of the key story moments from Final Fantasy XII. Big story moments happening in the background of stages seems to be a recurring theme in Dissidia Final Fantasy Arcade, with the Midgar stage showing the Meteor plummeting towards Earth, or the summoning of Alexander happening on the Alexandria stage.

If you want to see what a typical battle on Rabanastre looks like, check out the trailer below. It also acts as a mini-showcase for Vaan, as he beats up Final Fantasy villains like Garland and Kefka while he defends his home.

2GGaming Announces the 2GG Championship Series for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Complete with $100,000 Prize Pool

After yet another historic Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Saga put on by Champ and the 2GG team, the fun is not going to stop there. In a special announcement from Champ following the conclusion of ZeRo Saga, he announced that 2GG, in association with the Esports Arena, will be holding a Smash 4 tournament circuit in the new year: the 2GG Championship Series.

With 12 Sagas over 12 months, players will fight for 20 qualifying spots at the 2GG Championship Finals to be held at the end of 2017. Players can qualify for the Finals by either winning a Saga event and gaining an automatic spot, or by getting there via points gained from top 16 placings. To add a little more of an incentive to attend certain Sagas, each fourth Saga will be a season finale, where players will earn double points for placing within that top 16. These season finales will be two to three day events, similar to ZeRo Saga while normal Sagas will be one-day events.

If this isn’t exciting enough, 2GG are putting up a $100,000 prize pool, with $50,000 going across the 11 qualifying Sagas and the other $50,000 going directly to the Championship Finals. This is the largest prize pot in Super Smash Bros. history, so you can bet your bottom dollar the world will be coming to compete.

As sort of a stealth reveal in between this massive announcement, 2GG confirmed that January’s Saga will be titled Genesis Saga, being held the weekend before Genesis 4 on January 14th and that Civil War Saga will be the spring season finale. Civil War Saga will have its own special $30,000 pot bonus, independent of the 2GG Championship Series pool, and a special $10,000 10v10 crew battle between Team Ally and Team ZeRo.

I don’t know what sort of black magic Champ and the 2GG crew have pulled off to make this thing happen, but they are catapulting Smash 4 forward in terms of production values–so congratulations must go to them for putting this whole circuit together. For details on all of the upcoming Sagas, keep your eyes trained on the 2GG Championship Series smash.gg page for continuous updates throughout the year.

Stylish New Qanba Obsidian Fight Stick Appears, Pre-Orders Now Open

Qanba adds another fight stick to its PlayStation collection.

Following up on the Qanba Crystal and more recently the Qanba Dragon, another stick is joining Qanba’s PlayStation 3/4/PC arsenal: say hello to the new Qanba Obsidian: sleek and stylish in its simplicity.

The Obsidian shares much in common with its Dragon Big brother: Sanwa Denshi OBSF buttons and JLF stick (with a metal balltop), touchpad, headphone jack, a tournament lock switch, and LED accent lighting; however unlike the Dragon (or Razer’s new Panthera) it does not feature a lifting top panel for easy access. Nor does it share the Dragon’s premium price tage: it instead matches the Panthera at $199.99 USD. It is PlayStation 3 and 4 compatible, and PC-compatible via X-Input and D-Input drivers.
