Roxy, Axl, and Slash Bring Heavy Metal Influences to Mad Gear in the latest CFN Portal Street Fighter V Profiles
After covering knife nuts El Gado and Holly Wood, the CFN Portal site continues its rundown of the Mad Gear members from the original Final Fight, with the Shadaloo Activity Report’s research on Poison’s partner-in-crime, Roxy, as well as Axl and Slash, three characters that are based on–or named after–famous musicians of the 80s, the time period in which Final Fight was both created and set in.
Private Nakagawa: Roxy, the flower (?) of Mad Gear! Apparently, she came from an orphanage in Los Angeles like Poison, but she doesn’t speak often about her past.

Basic Info:
Name: Roxy
Height: 174 cm
Weight: 51 kg
Blood type: 0
Birthday: June 10th
Home Country: USA
Likes: Muscle Training, Shopping
Dislikes: Train Travel
Private Nakagawa: She has a characteristic husky voice. Currently, she’s active with Abigail, Axl, and J around Metro City’s Bay Area. She loves to squander money.
Next, we move on to the first Mad Gear member who serves as a Guns N’ Roses homage: Axl!
Private Nakagawa: His leather jacket is so cool! And his Double Hammer Punch is very powerful. He can even guard attacks.

Basic Info:
Name: Axl
Height: 193 cm
Weight: 90 kg
Blood type: A
Birthday: May 1st
Home Country: USA
Likes: Motorbikes, Soft Drinks
Dislikes: All Vegetables
Private Nakagawa: He loves his motorbike. He roars around Metro City all night long with his associates. Usually drinks a Japanese soft drink with plenty of calcium and iron added. [There are various Japanese soft drinks firms that produce those drinks, most notably Suntory.]
Finally, we have Axl’s partner and “head swap,” who’s a fellow shout-out to Guns N’ Roses: Slash.
Private Nakagawa: He let his grow, huh. He fights using whatever he finds around him as a weapon. Hates losing.

Basic Info:
Name: Slash
Height: 193 cm
Weight: 97 kg
Blood type: B
Birthday: February 6th
Home Country: England
Likes: Cars, Sports Games
Dislikes: Noisy People
Private Nakagawa: He has a high professional sense of consciousness, respected even within Mad Gear. He’s silent and taciturn, being a man of few words; but when he plays games, he always shouts and yells like Hell. He loves watching soccer (doesn’t like to play it, though).
That’s another three Mad Gear members down. For more about the gang, you can check out profiles on Bred, Dug, Jake and Simons here. Stay tuned, as we’ll provide more coverage of CFN Portal profiles as they appear! Do you have any thoughts on Roxy, Axl and Slash’s new looks? Sound off in the Comments below!

Where to Catch Streamed BlazBlue: Central Fiction Action from Japanese Arcades
Navigating NicoNico can be confusing if you don’t speak Japanese, especially if you don’t have a premium membership. Openrec.tv has been on the rise recently, and although it looks quite similar to NicoNico–it’s a platform for streaming and hosting videos–it has a slightly more modern interface.
You can create an account on Openrec.tv with a social media account, such as Twitter, and the profile options tend to be in English. We’ve covered a few videos from Dora, who started to make BlazBlue: Central Fiction videos in English. One channel that’s worth “Following” on Openrec.tv–which is done by starring it–is Shinjuku Sportsland. The arcade tends to broadcast BlazBlue tournaments on Wednesdays and Fridays. If you’re an ardent Twitch user, they also occasionally go on that service at Twitch.tv/sslhonkan01.
In order to stay on top of things via Twitter, @WHITE_ABSOL is the person to follow, as they are part of the Shinjuku Sportsland stream.
The Japan e-Sports League has also been broadcasting on Twitch, and their archives are available, like this recent set between Koike Litchi and Ikamen Azrael.
For some YouTube matches of BlazBlue and other anime games, the GAMEacho account is good to follow.
Finally, for a database of matches that can be sorted by specific characters, look to Keeponblaz.in.

The King of Fighters XIV on Sale on PlayStation Store, Celebrating “The Game Awards” Nomination
This year’s “The Game Awards” sees a few well known titles getting some spotlight. The King of Fighters XIV, Street Fighter V, Killer Instinct Season 3 and Pokkén Tournament have been nominated for Best Fighting Game 2016, and Team Liquid’s Juan “Hungrybox” Debiedma and Team Razer’s Lee “Infiltration” Seon-woo also receivied nominations for Best Esports player.
After being nominated for Best Fighting Game, Atlus is celebrating with a 20% discount on their fighter in the Playstation Store. Dropping from $59.99 to $47.99 is a decent discount, especially for anyone still straddling the fence on getting it. The game has a large visual overhaul coming in the form of the next patch, version 1.10, so this may be the perfect time to hop on The King of Fighters bandwagon if you haven’t already.

Razer Announces the Panthera: Their New Arcade Stick for the PlayStation 4
After months of speculation and prototype sightings in the wild, Razer has finally officially unveiled their new arcade stick. Called the Panthera, this new arcade stick represents Razer’s second ever PlayStation controller (following the Raiju game pad) and their first arcade stick for Sony’s console.
As we’ve already seen from the prototypes that Razer’s players have been testing at tournaments, the Panthera shares the basic shape of their previous stick, the Atrox. New to the Panthera is a larger, center mounted control section featuring a touchpad as well as L3 and R3 buttons. Aside from the PlayStation 4, the Panthera is also compatible with the PlayStation 3 and PC.
Razer has released the following images of the Panthera as well as these statements from their sponsored players Lee “Infiltration” Seon-woo and Ho Kun Xian.

Mark “MarkMan” Julio Is Now the Fighting Game Community and Product Consultant for Razer
Mark “MarkMan” Julio is someone who has done a lot for the fighting game community; formerly with MadCatz–being instrumental in the development of their arcade sticks–MarkMan later moved on to both take care of Business Development for Evo, as well as act as the Brand & Community Advisor for Tekken at Namco. It seems, however, that MarkMan still has more to give as he has taken on yet another role with another company.
MarkMan has has recently announced that he is now working with Razer as their Fighting Game Community and Product Consultant. As part of this, he will be working closely with the peripheral manufacturer on all their new initiatives related to the fighting game community.
This is great news for both Razer and the fighting game community as a whole. While they’ve been quite on the fighting game front for most of the year, Razer has been continuing to support the community with their sponsorships and move to create products for the PlayStation 4 (the current, tournament standard console). Meanwhile, MarkMan’s passion for fighting games and contributions to the community are already well documented.
We here at Shoryuken wish MarkMan and Razer the best in this new relationship.
