As we reported yesterday, a large patch was released for The King of Fighters XIV, and we received a list of patch notes in English. Unfortunately, it seems as if the translation may not have been word-for-word. A little something here and there getting lost in the translation is nothing new, though it can be a bit frustrating when learning what has changed about your character. It doesn’t happen often, but it’s important to know about.

One sharp-eyed fan, Gato Ray, realized that not all the changes were properly translated. Here, he points out that the Japanese patch notes for Ryo state that his far standing heavy kick was changed, but the English notes list far light kick.

While the gist of most of these changes is probably relatively accurate, double-checking that your character’s listed changes match what is in your game would probably be a good idea.

Last week, we reported on the release trailer for the devious Goku Black, who will be bringing his unique blend of mayhem to the world of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 as a pre-order bonus character, along with Ciampa’s Universe 6 team members, Frost and Kyabe being part of the game’s first DLC pack. Well, it seems Bandai Namco isn’t through with giving fans of Super more to look forward to, as last they confirmed that Universe 6’s Legendary Hitman, Hit, will also be joining the cast of Xenoverse 2. The new trailer depicts the assassin’s arrival to the tournament grounds for the epic battle he waged with Super Saiyan Blue Goku during the Universe 6 Saga.

Though there is no gameplay to accompany this announcement, it’s been confirmed that, unlike his Universe 6 Teammates, Hit will not be a DLC Character, and will instead be a member of the game’s launch roster, readily available to use from day one, along with SSB Goku, as the developers were able to finish him at the last moment. You can see his trailer below.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 25th in North America, October 27th in the EU and on November 2nd in Japan. It will also launch worldwide on Steam on October 28th.

The world of esports is a wild one, where it seems like anything can happen. It’s a world where branding means everything, and giants can appear overnight. Today, however, is a solemn reminder that a titan in any particular scene can vanish as quickly as it appeared.

Esports team EVB disbanded yesterday, with a heartfelt message on Twitter:

After 16 months and our best efforts we were unable to generate outside funding to support the team.

This funding, once dried up, forced the team to close up shop:

It is with a heavy heart and all our love for our team that we are unable to personally financially support a team moving forward.

This feels like a large blow to the Mortal Kombat scene, as three prominent members of their community wore the EVB jersey. Ryan “Dragon” Walker, Bryant “KitanaPrime” Benzing, and Ryan “Big D” DeDomenico are all large faces in the MKX scene, who are now free agents after EVB’s collapse. The same of course is true for Street Fighter V player Chris Tatarian, as well as Smash Bros. for Wii U player Austin “Dath” Brown”. While the future is uncertain for these players, EVB leaves us with some last words of encouragement:

Need to know all the ins and outs of the newly released Steel Bug, but don’t happen to live in Japan? You’re not alone.

The guys over at PokkénArena have been working on translating Scizor’s movelist. Though still a work in progress, it does give us some insight into some of the inner workings of Scizor’s tools. For example– it appears Scizor has both an air glide and some sort of dashing mechanic called “Hover Turn.”

Also, thanks to the famous Japanese Lucario Warutan, we have a more solid look at exactly what this Scizor’s been taught. Here’s his Field Phase buttons:

This morning, Nintendo revealed their upcoming console at last (codenamed “NX” up to this point). The company released a three-minute clip that shows the Nintendo Switch in action.

The trailer shows a few Nintendo Wii U games, like Splatoon and Mario Kart 8, with an obvious esports angle, so there’s good potential for a Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U port. [Rumors are already circulating about the possibility of that Smash 4 port, or a port of/sequel to Pokkén Tournament, but there is no confirmation of any of those at this point. – Editor]

Among the console’s partners figure companies like Atlus, Arc System Works, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Sega, and many more.

The Nintendo Switch launches March 2017.
