Rodolfo “Rotendo” Camarenamora, a longtime FGC and SRK community member from Texas, has been touched by a tragic event in the past few days. His wife and high school sweetheart, Stacy, passed away due to complications with diabetes and other illnesses. Now a father of three children, Rotendo turned to GoFundMe and the fighting game community for help.

The GoFundMe page seeks to cover funeral costs and some of the medical bills incurred over the past few years, which put a financial strain on the family. Rotendo faces those costs as well as the difficulties of raising three children on his own.

[Stacy] loved our children more than herself and always put their needs before her own. Stacy passed peacefully in her sleep on Sept 22, 2016. She had a big heart and is loved by many and all those she touched.

Sharing the page and his story, as well as any donations, would be hugely appreciated by his family.

The skin maker extraordinaire Demonslayerx8 is back at it again, this time bringing some familiar faces from Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 over to Smash 4. These skins for Ryu and Captain Falcon turn the Street Fighter into fellow karate master Iron Fist, while the futuristic race car driver turns into the Spirit of Vengeance, Ghost Rider.

Don’t expect the Penance Stare to replace the Falcon Punch but these skins do look very good in motion, especially when paired with the Training Stage mod as seen in the video below. Demonslayerx8 is also working on a Nova skin for Captain Falcon, along with a redone version of the Shadow Moses Island stage from Brawl. You can download the Iron Fist and Ghost Rider skins from Gamebanana now, and expect Nova and Shadow Moses to release within the next week or so.

While Aksys Games already announced a Limited Edition Bundle for the upcoming US release of BlazBlue: Central Fiction, there’s an another eye-catching offer: in a separate bundle that comes together with the Limited Edition goodies, Aksys Games is selling an officially licensed a HORI Fighting Commander pad.

The HORI pad boasts a d-pad, six buttons, turbo settings, and a wired connection in order to minimize input lag. Licensed by Sony and Arc System Works, the pad is compatible with PlayStation 4, as well as PlayStation 3 and PC thanks to XInput.

Altogether, this bundle will cost $129.00 from the Aksys Store, while the regular BlazBlue: Central Fiction Limited Edition sits at $89.99.

While the release date hasn’t been exactly nailed down, Aksys Games tweeted out a clarification:

Those who pre-ordered the Japanese PS4 version of BlazBlue: Central Fiction can already enjoy its roster of characters in a limited demo. That version is fully releasing on October 6th.

Just as details have emerged on more qualifiers for the Asia finals of the King of the Iron Fist Tournament and a European tour for Tekken 7, Bandai Namco Entertainment USA has revealed more information on the North American finals for Tekken 7: Fated Retribution’s pre-release tournament. Tournaments have been happening at events all throughout the year, with regular competitions at Wizard World events, as well as at big tournaments like Combo Breaker and CEO. There are five qualifiers left on the North American circuit, but fret not Tekken fans, as there is a still a chance to qualify.

On the 9th of November–the day before the NA King of the Iron Fist finals–Bandai Namco are holding a “Last Chance” qualifier at the Hilton Union Square in San Francisco, which will have 256 open slots to decide who will fill the remaining places for the 20-player final. If there are an odd number of slots remaining in the final 20 man bracket, tiebreakers will be played to determine those last entrants.

The actual finals will have an initial round robin stage, with two entrants from each of the four pools going through to create one final top 8. The winner of this bracket will then walk away with a cool $10,000. This event will be held on the 10th of November at the Ruby Skye in San Francisco, with tickets going on sale on October 3rd at 10am PDT, so set your alarms to guarantee a ticket. Brooklyn, New York’s Next Level arcade is partnering with ESL Gaming to host a special Street Fighter V exhibition and side tournament on September 30. The event will serve as a prelude to The Brooklyn Beatdown, a $75,000 tournament being hosted by ESL Gaming at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center on Oct. 1.

The Beatdown has attracted a number top SFV contenders to New York, including reigning Capcom Cup champion GGP|Kazunoko, NS|Ludovic, Wolfkrone, Twitch Ambassador Daigo Umehara, and more. But before they face off at the Barclays Center, they’’ll have a chance to show off their stuff at New York’s premier fighting game hub.

New Legacy will consist of six exhibition matches with a first to seven match between GGP|Kazunoko and F3|Alucard serving as the main event. Next Level will also run a side tournament for attendees to get a taste of the competition as well. Check out the scheduled list of matches:

1) Danslip vs. cR|Footwurk – First to 3
2) NS|Ludovic vs. Commander Jesse – First to 3
3) Igotdembombs vs. Circa|LPN – First to 3
4) OG|Shine vs. WOLFKRONE – First to 5

TeamSp00ky will be streaming the exhibition, and ESL|Zowie, Hyper X, Arozzi and G Fuel will provide prizes for the participants, win or lose. The confirmed commentators for New Legacy are IFC|Yipes and Moons, though you may see some other familiar faces behind the mic. D’Nyce of Fly Nation will serve as the event’s host.

The Street Fighter V September update brought in Urien and a host of other features–but for PC users, one such “feature” is Capcom’s patch to shut down cheating. Some will applaud and some will decry the intention, but it’s causing technical issues for many PC players–and an aspect of this patch points to what may be a significant security issue for PC Street Fighters.

According to Ars Technica (and examinations on a number of Reddit threads), because of Capcom’s client-side (rather than external) verification of your in-game unlockables and purchases, Capcom’s anti-cheating protocol grants kernel access to your system–“drill[ing] into a client’s kernel access to make sure users are playing nice,”–in a manner that could be “back-door” exploited. Capcom seems to be taking user concerns seriously, however, and have spoken up on Twitter:

During their announcement of tickets going on sale, DreamHack has confirmed that DreamHack Austin 2017 will have tournaments for both Street Fighter V and Super Smash Bros. Melee running during the course of the event. According to the official DreamHack website, Melee and SFV were the most popular tournaments alongside Hearthstone, so due to the number of prior entrants they will be returning to next year’s event. The event will run from April 28-30th, at the Austin Convention Center.

Street Fighter has had a presence at DreamHack since the days of SSFIVAE, while Melee made its grand entrance at DreamHack Winter last year, which saw Hungrybox’s landmark win over Armada in the PAL version of the game. Melee is also returning to this year’s DreamHack Winter with the Smash Championship, complete with $30,000 prize pool, but no Street Fighter V event has been announced, probably due to the proximity of that event to the Capcom Cup.

You can now buy tickets for DreamHack Austin over on their site. Unfortunately, due to the massive demand for tickets, the early bird pricing has finished–so a three day pass will cost $92. More information about each tournament will become available as we approach April 2017.

While the PC side of the September 22 Street Fighter V update is causing some users some issues, a new patch means new data to be mined: and a modder claims to have found an alternate costume for Nash that calls back to his Agent Shadow days.

It appears very similar to Nash’s existing Story costume, and reportedly has only a few selectable colors. While the video refers to it as “Jenbu” Nash, the screenshot linked in the video description shows the name “Genbu” for the costume–more likely correct, as Genbu could be translated as “mysterious warrior,” keeping with the Shadow theme:

We’ll have to wait and see from Capcom exactly what the answer is to this mystery of “Genbu/Jenbu Nash.” Thanks to smartturtle for the tip.

We are coming close to the end of Red Bull’s Street Fighter V Proving Grounds. This weekend will feature the final event of the Vanguard series, and the competition is heating up–as everyone wants to reach the top 3, and earn their way into the final event.

There are, however, players that are rising up as the cream of the crop, and Red Bull has revealed their power rankings leading up to the final Vanguard based on point standings. The standings are as follows:
