While The King of Fighters XIV was just available to play at Combo Breaker, it looks like (some) North American fans of the series won’t have to wait long to give it another go. Sony recently revealed a partial list of games that will be playable at their booth at the West Hall of the LA Convention center at E3, and among the games is none other than SNK’s upcoming fighter.

Before any Angelenos start making plans of actually attending, it’s important to note that E3 is still mostly an industry-only event with the only portion open to the public being the separate E3 Live 2016 event taking place at L.A. Live. That said, companies do sometimes invite top players to their booth to play their games, so if we’re lucky, we’ll get some quality impressions and footage from the event.

E3 2016 takes place from June 14 to 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The games that will comprise the Sunday Finals of the 2016 Evolution Championship Series have been revealed, courtesy of the Evo Twitter feed. The selected games will be played at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in the following order: Mortal Kombat XL, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and last–of course–is Street Fighter V.

It was also announced that over 2000 competitors have signed up to take part in the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament, showing that the largest Smash event to date has continued to draw even more participants.

Defend the North, New York’s only Capcom Pro Tour ranking event, will sponsor an online tournament series titled “Defend the Net” in the weeks leading up to the event on July 27-29. Tournaments will be held for Street Fighter V, Killer Instinct, and Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- starting today, June 6, with SFV.

The winner of each tournament will receive a custom Defend the North arcade stick built by ARENA Fightsticks to work on PS3, PS4, PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Signups are now available for the Street Fighter V tournament, hosted by Bifuteki. Entry is just $6, including associated fees.

According to the Defend the North website, the Killer Instinct Tournament will be hosted by Kick-Punch-Block and the Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- tournament will be hosted by Mr. Biscuits. Dates for those events are still pending.

Visit Defend the North’s site for the latest on the online tournament series, and tune in on Monday at 7:30 p.m. EDT to watch the Street Fighter V event live on Twitch.

The latest arcade iteration of French Bread and Ecole Software’s Under Night series, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] will be getting a new character in an upcoming summer update for the game.

Named Mika, the new character is a close range fighter who wields a pair of giant gauntlets. She uses a combination of grapples, such as her Mika-chan Cannon and powerful forward moving moves such as her Mika-chan Missile and Mika-chan Tornado to pummel her opponents.

Early last week, we got an accidental glimpse at Ibuki’s upcoming Story Mode alternate costume, but the footage of the outfit was admittedly blurry. At that time, we were able to discern that Ibuki’s secondary set of duds will include a white top of some variety, but there was little else to be seen in the tiny bit of even tinier footage.

At this weekend’s Street Fighter V Crash event, we got our first intentional look at the upcoming DLC character’s story mode alternate costume in the form of the image above. As you can see, this simple outfit is quite similar in style to Karin’s Story Mode getup.

After receiving feedback over its previous ruling which specifically banned sponsors related to adult content on Capcom Pro Tour streams, Capcom has now amended the ruling to ban the advertising of all ‘adult’ products on officially produced streams, including e-cigarettes, alcohol and tobacco. According to official Tweets on the Capcom Fighters Twitter page, they will not allow “display of any products marketed towards adults” on their streams, in order to “provide an inviting atmosphere for players of all ages.”

As a result, sponsors like The Steam Co. and Bud Light (who have recently started their All-Star player initiative) will not have their team names shown on stream headers, and there will be no official advertisements from these sponsors on stream. This rule amendment comes from community feedback, which no doubt deemed the singling out of some sponsors unfair, while sponsors for other ‘adult’ items were simply dissuaded from advertising on stream. Capcom did reiterate that “players can compete in the CPT regardless of their sponsor affiliation” but that their sponsors simply won’t be allowed to advertise their products on stream.

Don’t expect any Bud Light jerseys on stage or any more stream adverts selling vape kits in the future. You can check the amended ruling on the official Capcom Pro Tour rules page.

One of the bigger discussions right now in the Street Fighter V community is whether or not upcoming DLC character Ibuki should be legal at Evolution 2016 this July. While a regular Capcom Pro Tour event would only ban characters released within a week of the event, Evolution has its own rules requiring characters to be out for at least a month for them to be legal.

Despite this, Evolution co-founder Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar has noted the fact that many players and fans would like to see the kunoichi playable at Evolution and opened a poll on Twitter asking whether or not they would want to see her playable at the tournament.

As of the poll’s close, just shy of 75% of the nearly 8,000 participants said they would like to see Ibuki participate in the event. Whether or not this poll will lead to Ibuki being playable at Evo–if she does miss the June 15 deadline–is still unknown.

Allowing newly released characters into tournaments is always a tricky proposition. We’ve already seen examples of new characters released close to certain tournaments dominating said tournaments in other games. However, Capcom and Street Fighter have for the most part avoided this in the past which could help sway things in Ibuki’s favor.
