With Killer Instinct Season 3 officially underway, it’s only appropriate that details surrounding the next Killer Instinct World Cup should surface. As luck would have it, Brandon Alexander of Ultra Arcade, in collaboration with the folks at Iron Galaxy Studios, recently unveiled a huge amount of information on the tournament season, which has already begun.

Those looking to gather ranking points for themselves have a variety of ways to do so. Online tournaments, like the ones held by 8Bit BeatDown and the Killer Instinct Pro League, will allow players to gather points from the comfort of their own homes. Those ranking among the top 32 in online ranked play will also receive points for the World Cup tour, though not so many as those who perform well at tournaments.

Of course, not all of the ranking points come from online events. There will also be several offline Kombo Klash tournaments players can attend to accrue some points for the season. We’ve included the current list (subject to change) below.

Those who place first in a Kombo Klash automatically qualify for a spot in the World Cup tournament, and runners-up receive points to help them secure spots as well. If you’re looking to test your mettle in the world of competitive fighting, this is a great way to get started in a comfortable manner, since it’s entirely possible to qualify without ever having to attend a large event.

Alex has made his return in his first Street Fighter game since Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. While a few of his classic tools have made the transition, he has a number of updated mechanics at his disposal in Street Fighter V. For those in search of another in-depth Alex breakdown, BROKENTIER’s Jay “Viscant” Snyder dedicated the latest entry in his Hit the Ground Running blog series to the returning character.

The first thing Viscant notes is how Alex shares similar traits with other grapplers in the game, indicating that Capcom has some specific ideas about the archetype for Street Fighter V.

While Viscant touches on many of Alex’s normals, he dedicates an entire section to the towards fierce lariat. This button has a number of good attributes; it’s safe on block, works as an anti-air, hits crouchers, and is a crush counter. Used right, it can help create situations where Alex can beat 3 frame grabs, or even set up 50/50 situations on block. According to Viscant, hunting for blocked lariats is an effective early game strategy.

Prior to today, the possessed tiger warrior was only available during special promotion periods, but that requirement has been relaxed as a sort of welcoming gift in this early portion of the game’s third season.

Though he will always be available moving forward, Shadow Jago’s price will, for the time being, remain set at $9.99. If you weren’t sure about throwing down an extra ten bucks on the game at this point, you can comfortably hold out until the draw of Gargos’ power becomes too much to bear and you too give in to the lure of multiple aerial projectiles, teleport dashes, and snazzy alternate colors.

Moments ago, the folks at Aksys Games announced that the long awaited demo version of Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- has officially gone live. Those with a PlayStation 4 system can currently hit up the PlayStation Network and pre-order the full game in order to unlock this demo version. The demo comes complete with full access to Arcade Mode, Training Mode and Versus Mode, so if you’re looking to lab it up to gain an upper hand early on, now’s the time!

Early adopters of the game will also receive access to free DLC content on June 7. This content will remain free for a full two weeks after release, and includes characters Raven and Kum Haehyun as well as the Eclipse Color pack.

This announcement comes alongside a new trailer for the updated version of the game, which features a quick look at Dizzy, though she’s still shrouded in shadow. One of these days we’ll get to see her in action. Hopefully.

Pokkén Tournament for Nintendo’s Wii U will be getting an update soon, though the date of the update has yet to be revealed. This patch, which will bring the game up to version 1.2, is meant to address a number of bugs and glitches with the game.

The most notable change in this patch that has been revealed so far has to do with Shadow Mewtwo. Specifically, it removes its ability to perform an infinite blockstring to lock its opponent down and win matches without having to land a clean hit.

Aside from the changes to Shadow Mewtwo, the only other known adjustments are to the Reshiram support Pokémon.

Despite all of the recent trailers that SNK Playmore has released for the King of Fighters XIV, we’ve yet to see any gameplay footage of the recently announced characters. However, that’s going to change soon with the company bringing a new build of the game to their King of Fighters XIV Experience event in Tokyo on April 25.

Taking place at the E-sports Square Akihabara, the event will allow Japanese players to get their hands on the King of Fighters XIV for the first time ever.The new build itself will feature 24 playable characters. While that doesn’t cover the entire cast, that’s more than any previous build has shown and should cover most of the newly announced characters.

For those who won’t be able to attend, SNK Playmore will also be streaming the event live on their Twitch channel.

Of course, this isn’t the only event with the King of Fighters XIV in Japan this month. The game, likely with the same 24 character build, will also be playable on KVO x TSB 2016 in Osaka on April 30.

The King of Fighters XIV will be coming out on PlayStation 4 sometime later this year.

Back in February, Kinetiquettes announced an upcoming diorama depicting MCZ|Daigo Umehara’s journey from wandering warrior to wielder of the Dark Hadou.

While the original announcement came alongside a reveal trailer, we were only given the slightest glimpse at the finished product. Late last week, the folks at Kinetiquettes released a handful of images of the statue set to help pique the interest of buyers-to-be.

These stills came alongside the announcement that pre-orders are, appropriately, “expected to open around Evo 2016 (mid July).” Though this isn’t an exact date, it does give us a good idea of when we should have our wallets prepared. We do not, sadly, have an expected price for the piece at this time.
