Although our friends in Europe usually have to wait an inordinate amount of time to get new Arc System Works titles or, even worse, overlooked altogether, that won’t be the case with Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-. According to Rice Digital, the upcoming title will be available in the region on June 10 courtesy of UK publisher PQube, who also handled various releases for Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, Persona, and Arcana Heart.

Not only is an actual release good news for Europe, but the timing means Europe will receive -REVELATOR- in the same week as North America, which is just shy of two weeks after Japan. Similar to those regions, it will be available for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- introduces a slew of updated mechanics and characters, including Johnny, Jam Kuradoberi, Jack-O, and Kum Haehyun. Series veteran Dizzy is expected to join the game at some point thanks to her popularity in a recent poll, and the announcement also makes reference to a mysterious sixth character that has yet to be revealed.

The organizers behind East Coast Throwdown today announced details for the eighth installment of their annual competition. Though normally a spring/summer event, they’ve decided to push their festivities back to September to alleviate some of the crowding that invariably happens in the event circuit.

The tournament will once again take in Morristown, New Jersey. Rooms at the Hyatt Morristown are currently available at a special rate.

East Coast Throwdown 2016 is scheduled for September 3-4. More details are forthcoming, so stay tuned.

With the competitive season already in full swing, Capcom’s Peter “Combofiend” Rosas and Twitch’s Mike Ross joined forces to unveil the schedule for Capcom Pro Tour 2016.

Similar to last year’s circuit, the action will kick off in France with Cannes Winter Clash before moving onto Final Round 19 for the first premier event. But instead of Ultra Street Fighter IV, the all-new Street Fighter V will form the basis of this new tour.

As always, Capcom aims to make sure the entire fighting game community is represented, not just the upper echelons of players from Japan, the United States, and Europe. Thirty-two players will make up the finals at Capcom Cup, with eleven chosen directly from Premier events like the aforementioned Final Round, Evo, NorCal Regionals, South East Asia Major, Canada Cup, and more.

There is one twist, however: if a player who has already qualified for Capcom Cup wins another premier tournament, that spot will become another global ranking qualifier. No more second, third, fourth, etc. placers getting into the main event automatically…you gotta walk away with the gold!

After that, Capcom will be expanding the model of Capcom Pro Tour Asia to other regions with Capcom Pro Tour North America, Europe, and Latin America. Every region will have twelve ranking events and two online events. Winning one of the rankings events will give you a ticket to the region’s main event, and each of these individual areas will have their own leaderboard that Capcom Cup also draws players from.

Oh, and last year’s champion will not be given free entry. He has to earn a spot like everyone else.

It’s pretty complicated, but at the end of the day this will ensure that Capcom Cup remains a truly global event, with representation from the farthest corners of the fighting game community. We’re sure you want to start planning your itinerary, so check out the full schedule below.

Street Fighter IV’s theme song, the infamous “Indestructible,” was one of the most memorable parts of its launch back in 2009. Thanks to the ridiculously awesome stylings of The Next Door, the refrain will forever be ingrained in the memories of Street Fighter fans everywhere.

Now, Capcom has tapped Japanese rock band Man with a Mission to do the unthinkable: follow-up that iconic track with one of their own for Street Fighter V. The announcement quickly spread, but only now has the song become available to the masses thanks to today’s release of the group’s latest album, The World’s on Fire.

 

Founded in 2010, Man with a Mission gained attention for the distinct wolf masks they wear during public appearances. Anime fans may be familiar with their track “Raise Your Flag,” which was used as the opening theme for Mobile Suit Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans. Prior to Street Fighter V, they worked with Capcom to provide the commercial theme song for Lost Planet: Extreme Condition.

After previewing Tri-Borg at the ESL Pro League finals, NetherRealm Studios is ready to show off fellow Kombat Pack 2 inductee Leatherface during their next Kombat Kast. This horror movie mainstay has been haunting audiences since the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre dropped in 1974, and he’s ready to treat the Mortal Kombat cast to some of that same brutality.

Little is known about Leatherface’s gameplay apart from brief snippets provided in the official trailer, and speculation has only increased thanks to the recent glimpse we received of his Killer variation.

Kombat Kast will be live on Twitch this Thursday, February 11, at 2 PM PST, 5 PM EST.

Later this week, Capcom will be hosting a special pre-launch broadcast for Street Fighter V. The live event will include a “complete presentation” of the latest information on the upcoming title.

The developers also plan to hold a four-on-four exhibition featuring some of the strongest Street Fighter players in the world. Viewers can expect to see Evil Geniuses’ Momochi, Mad Catz’ Tokido and Mago, Red Bull’s Bonchan, Razer’s Fuudo, Kazunoko, Haitani, and Itabashi Zangief flex their muscles in Street Fighter V, so be sure to keep an eye out for the early strategies they employ.

Despite previous statements failing to raise our hopes, it appears as if legacy controller support is a go for Street Fighter V.

This report comes courtesy of Spanish outlet Meristation, who revealed that their advance copy of the game recently received a rather hefty 5.9 GB update that adds support for PlayStation 3 peripherals. Their details were backed up by screenshots that, along with the entire article, have since been removed.

Furthermore, they were also able to confirm that Street Fighter V’s first downloadable character, Alex, will launch in March alongside the in-game shop and challenge mode. Rumor has it that Alex and all subsequent post-release characters will cost 100,000 Fight Money (Monies?) apiece

That number sounds pretty steep, but Capcom’s Matt Dahlgren previously told us that playing Street Fighter V on a regular basis should give users enough in-game currency to pick up characters as they are released, a concept he expanded on in a recent interview.

“If you play through all of the single-player content, or just a majority of it, you should be able to earn enough money to get the first DLC character for free, if not more money on top of that,” Dahlgren told GamesBeat.
