Get an Early Scoop on Tremor’s Gameplay in Mortal Kombat X

mkx-tremor-loading-622-crop

Although Predator just joined the Mortal Kombat X cast this week, folks have done a fair bit of digging into the PC version’s localization files and found details pertaining to Tremor’s variations, movelist, and more. This is a pretty substantial find considering we probably won’t see the character for another month, so let’s take a look at these discoveries.

First off, Tremor will have three separate variations at this disposal. Aftershock gives the ground-based combatant access to a ground pound move that can also be performed in the air. Similar to attack archetypes in other games, players can adjust this move to affect areas either close to Tremor or further away, but only if he is airborne.

Metallic, on the other hand, gives him specials that can apply either gold or lava skin. Holding the activation button results gold or lava armor, which we can only surmise as being an upgrade. Gold and lava use the same inputs, so it’s possible one name is the official title and the other is a holdover from development. Many of Tremor’s special moves are adjusted when these skin and armor skills are activated.

Finally, Crystalline Tremor functions as a summoning character, capable of calling forth a crystal that becomes a boulder when meter-burned. Much like in the Metallic variation, these summons change the properties of his normal special moves and also give him access to a few unique attacks.

All in all, Tremor appears to have a very wide range of playstyles at his disposal, though with this limited information it’s hard to truly understand what he will be capable of. There’s a lot still up in the air and it’s possible some of this may change between now and his official release, but feel free to check out the original post for an early look at the upcoming fighter’s normals, strings, and specials.

Street Fighter III’s Alex and Urien Rumored to Appear in Street Fighter V

This screenshot is fake. Totally fake.

This screenshot is fake. Totally fake.

Another day means another Street Fighter V rumor, but this time around the details aren’t coming from some random online personality or personal blog. Earlier this morning, Siliconera reported that Alex and Urien, both known for debuting in the Street Fighter III series, will be playable in Street Fighter V.

Of course, it’s important to take this all with a grain of salt. Both characters have been rumored to appear in the upcoming title for quite some time, with some folks even going as far as to fake in-game screenshots of Alex (pictured above).

At this point in time, Shoryuken has not been able to independently verify the details provided by Siliconera’s sources, but we’ll be sure to update this article if we receive word either way.

Skullgirls 2nd Encore Now Available on PlayStation 4, Robo-Fortune Playable

Today marks a pretty big day for the Skullgirls team. First off, 2nd Encore is now available on PlayStation 4, bringing the indie fighter to the current generation console with some spiffy new additions like a fully-voiced story mode and extensive trials to test your skills. But it’s not all about Sony’s latest console, as the previous versions have also seen additions in the form of a new playable character, alternate voice packs and announcers, gameplay changes, and more.

While she was initially only going to be a slight remix on Ms. Fortune, the Skullgirls team at Lab Zero Games have turned Robo-Fortune into an entirely new fighter, with upgraded animations and a fresh set of attacks. As the fifth and final downloadable character supported by their crowdfunding campaign, she will be available free of charge for the next three months, after which she will cost $4.99, so be sure to pick her up before then.

Robo-Fortune is currently available through Steam and the North American PlayStation Network. She will release in Europe on July 9, with undetermined launches still being planned for Japan and the global Xbox Live userbase.

For a quick look at what’s included in Skullgirls 2nd Encore, check out the trailer below. A more detailed breakdown as well as patch notes for what’s changed gameplay-wise can be found here.

Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono Reveals Brazil Stage in Street Fighter V, Heavily Teases Upcoming Character Annoucement

In a random video addressing the WB Games Summit in Brazil, Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono took it upon himself to showcase a few brief snippets of a brand new Street Fighter V stage set in the South American country.

While there’s not much to see here, the notorious prankster seems to heavily hint at a Blanka reveal being planned for Brazil Games Show 2015 in October. Personally, I feel as if these teases are a little too on the nose to actually be about the green-skinned world warrior; could it be possible that Sean will make a grand return to the Street Fighter series?

Obviously, we’ll have to wait until later this year to see if these guesses are correct, but feel free to let us know what you think in the comments below.
