With Mortal Kombat X’s release just under a month away, information recently leaked online regarding what kinds of achievements it will offer to people who love to boost numbers that don’t really mean anything. While these are all well and good, they don’t really tell us anything…until you look at their corresponding images, that is.

Screenshots attached to these achievements unveil a number of juicy morsels, including confirmation that Jax Briggs and newcomer Erron Black and will be playable in the upcoming title, our first in-game looks at characters like Goro and Shinnok, and some glimpses of possible alternate costumes.

We’ve included all of the pertinent images below, so if you are worried about getting caught up in any more spoilers, stop reading here. Of course, as this is a Mortal Kombat game, you can also expect some blood; be wary if you are bothered by such things.

Mortal Kombat X is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 14, with a summer release planned for older platforms. A complete look at the achievements and a whole host of other images can be found over on Xbox Achievements.

Tonight, the folks behind Canada Cup have announced that the tournament series’ 2015 installment will take place October 30 through November 1.

While the event went through a rough patch last year, Canada Cup Gaming eventually rebounded with a mainline tournament as well as an invitational that saw previous years’ champions return to the country for a special high-stakes exhibition.

As part of this year’s Capcom Pro Tour, Canada Cup 2015 will enjoy premier tournament status, meaning its first-place finisher in Ultra Street Fighter IV will automatically qualify for Capcom Cup 2015, as well as a $15,000 bonus to the game’s overall prize pool. Other finalists will also be rewarded with a higher tier of points, helping their chances of qualifying through the ranking system.

Canada Cup 2015 will be hosted at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center in Toronto, Ontario. More details regarding registration and other official games is still forthcoming.

In a reply to fans on Twitter, Mortal Kombat X executive producer Shaun Himmerick has confirmed that the title’s online multiplayer will be region-locked.

One of the biggest disappointments with NetherRealm Studios’ previous fighting games was the fact that netplay was restricted by the version you purchased, meaning, for example, a player from Europe could not play with one from North America.

Other titles, like Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!!, have seen similar treatment, though the former was corrected with a post-launch patch.

This is certainly unfortunate news for players who were hoping that Mortal Kombat X would not have the same restriction as NetherRealm’s previous titles. Hopefully we’ll see it go the way of Persona in the future.

Mortal Kombat X will arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 14, with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 releases planned for sometime this summer.

Today, Ultra Arcade’s Brandon “Odinson” Alexander announced that Combo Breaker, set to be held in Chicago this May, has been upgraded to premier status for next year’s Killer Instinct World Cup. Much like Capcom Pro Tour, this means that the first-place finisher will automatically earn a spot in the finals bracket..

Furthermore, as the honorary home of Kombo Klash Chicago, competitors who place in top sixteen at Combo Break will be rewarded with ranking points from the highest tier the circuit has to offer, further helping their chances.

This news come just a week after Alexander revealed that points will also be given to the top ranked online players at the end of each month leading up to main event.

Four years ago, Japan suffered one of its deadliest earthquakes to date. The 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami left thousands dead, even more homeless, and was also cause of one of the worst nuclear power disasters in history.

To assist those who are still suffering from the effects of this catastrophe, Arc System Works recently announced that they will be donating a portion of their earnings from March to the ongoing relief effots. The specific amount and the charities who will be receiving aid have yet to be announced.

The disaster had far-reaching consequences even in the video game industry, with many development teams having to stop work on projects due to the effects of the disaster (such as Marvel vs. Capcom 3’s planned downloadable content, resulting in Ultimate’s release later that year).

Since his emergence during Evo 2010’s Super Street Fighter IV tournament, AVerMedia’s Bruce “GamerBee” Hsiang has been a dominant force in the global fighting game scene. Hsiang, who performs at high levels with the fairly underutilized Adon, can be counted on to bring intensity to any competition he decides to enter.

Unfortunately, we haven’t seen much of Hsiang in the United States after last year’s Evolution, where he placed just outside of top eight after losses to Keita “Fuudo” Ai of Razer and HORI’s Sako Naoto, but that’s all about to change.

This weekend, the Taiwanese competitor will once again make a return to the United States, kicking off a tour whose itinerary sees him taking part in SXSW Gaming’s Fighters Invitational (streaming live now!), Final Round 18, and NorCal Regionals 2015. While the former is all about the cash and prestige, the two latter events give Hsiang the opportunity to qualify outright for Capcom Pro Tour 2015.

But he won’t just be bringing his incredible fighting game prowess with him. AVerMedia plans to run promotions for their Ultra Street Fighter IV Live Gamer Portable (check our review here) during Hsiang’s stateside visit, the first of which is scheduled to take place during Final Round. Mad Catz’ Ultra Street Fighter IV-branded Tournament Edition 2 arcade stick isn’t the only peripheral to come up for pre-order on Amazon recently; players in the market for a brand new controller can now snatch up one of the company’s basic models as well.

This variant of the stick comes with blue sides and blue art, similar to the Japan exclusive Tournament Edition 2 Yellow. Unlike that version, however, this one comes with a black balltop and Dark Hai buttons from Sanwa.

Aside from these changes, this Tournament Edition 2 comes with all the same features as the other, game-themed variants, such as the opening top panel and easy-to-change art.

The arcade stick, which is compatible with both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, can be pre-ordered on Amazon for $199.99. It’s expected to start shipping on May 30.
