The Rift Twitter has a mysterious new post saying that “The Battle Pass is coming soon!” However, there is no further information about what exactly that means for the game, though the tweet goes on to ask what players “wish to see”. Respondents in the Twitter thread are rather snarkily responding that, with more information, they might have a few suggestions.

The Rift site has been updated with a note from the Gamigo team to announce to the community that Rift Prime will be closing down on March 31st. No explanation is given for the closure. You may remember that Rift Prime is, or was, a progression server that started with “vanilla” and would gradually unlock content over time. Character transfers will be completed by April 7th.

The Storm Legion has launched in Rift: Prime and players can take on the forces of the Storm Queen as she “wreaks havoc across Telara”. Players will find new raids and dungeons and the level cap has increased to 60. The Empyrean colossus Volan is also out and about, so there is lots to do for Ascended.

Rift Prime progression server will be getting a big update when the Storm Legion expansion launches on October 3rd. Subscribers will be able to explore new continents and dungeons as they uncover the lore and story behind the Legion’s arrival. To culminate the new experience, players will ultimately face off “against the mighty colossus Volan”.

Trion Worlds has announced that the “beloved Storm Legion expansion” is coming to Rift Prime later this fall. “Stand against the maelstrom of Crucia’s evil forces as they attempt to utilize the power of the Infinity Gate to conquer the Steppes of Infinity”.

The letter begins with updates that have been deployed since the spring update including balance changes and other content patches.

From now through June 7th, Trion Worlds is offering a 7-day free trial on the Rift Prime progression server. It is unclear who can claim the offer, though it is probable that it is on offer to those who are or have been Patron members in the past. Players can download and try the game for a week’s worth of time without any restrictions on the account.
