Everyone has a fighting chance
Shroud of the Avatar, along with Camelot Unleashed, Pathfinder Online, and Star Citizen represent the upcoming crop of crowdfunded MMO’s. The Kickstarter for the project raised $1.9 million from over 22,000 backers and the project has since raised about $5 million in total crowdfunding from nearly 132,000 backers.
This week I continued my interview series on the development of Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues by Portalarium. Joining me this month were both the founder of Portalarium Richard "Lord British" Garriott and Executive Producer "Dark" Starr Long. We spent a little over an hour running around New Britannia Tuesday night showing off a number of interesting player and developer created features.
Shroud of the Avatar is currently in Build 11 as it speeds towards the early access release on Steam later this fall. Portalarium has announced that Steam Early Access for Shroud of the Avatar will begin on November 24th. Early Access patrons will have an opportunity to help test the build that, with tweaks and fixes, will become the Steam EA build in November.
I am quite literally just back from Austin as I sit down to write this latest update on Shroud of the Avatar. I wasn’t able to make it up for my typical week-before-release hangout with the guys, so today was pretty much a drive by. It’s well worth staying up past my bedtime to hack this article out, though. Despite the brevity of my visit, I got a load of cool information to share with you folks, and I’m excited to do it.
