VesperArcade breaks down their wishlist for Menat changes in Season 4 of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

When Justin Wong stopped by Frame Advantage studios earlier this year to talk about Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition‘s Menat, he summed her up simply: “She’s very, very cheap.”

You’d think that make VesperArcade’s current project — theorizing what changes would best benefit the inevitable upcoming Season 4 balance patch — would be made a lot simpler thanks to that quip from one of Menat’s top players. The reality is a little more complicated: a lot of Menat’s “oompf” came from changes in Season 3, including the addition of a new move that filled a gap in her complicated gameplan. (It also didn’t hurt any that it was during Season 3 that Sako practically reinvented the way the community viewed the character.)

Check out the video above to see how they tackle a theoretical Menat in Season 4 — are you happy with the changes they propose?

Leffen breaks down Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s buffer quirks, stick sensitivity settings, and more

Evo champion William Peter Hjelte, better known as “Leffen”, has spent his time in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate dissecting many of its new properties. During his stress test he’s found that Nintendo’s new platform fighter has some odd quirks when it comes to its new buffer system, most notably in the way it implements the c-stick during aerials.

Many of the problems with the C-Stick are likely attributed to the fact it is a macro, which you can read about in further detail here in this reddit thread.

Ken’s life is in ruins: BornFree’s latest skit addresses what Ken needs most in Season 4 of Street Fighter V

“Yeah, but this is a V-Skill walk, so…”

sfv-ken-intro-622-crop

Ken fans have rallied behind a singular point of contention on Ken in Street Fighter V since day one: what is up with that hair? That face…? And why won’t Capcom do anything about it?!

UYU|BornFree offers the scenario above for your consideration. How much can one fighter take, how much can one man lose, before he’s forced to jump ship and find a game that appreciates him? One ill-conceived sponsorship deal might be the last straw to push a Street Fighter over the edge — and into the world of edge-guarding.

MikeZ demonstrates game-breaking super flash glitch in SNES version of Street Fighter Alpha 2

Due to the hardware limitations of consoles many years ago, it was impossible to have arcade-perfect ports of fighting games. This was true in the Super Nintendo Era and extremely true of the Street Fighter Alpha 2 ports. These versions of the game were flawed in a variety of hilarious ways and Mike Z — Mr. Skullgirls developer himself — just put out an excellent video on one of its more bizarre glitches.

Check out the video above to see a super-flash glitch that breaks nearly every aspect of the game — meter, pushback, combos, and even the way the game functions beyond the round it was performed in. If you ever want a reminder for how good you have it in an era of immediate patching, this is it.

Cower in fear of all of The Walking Dead references in Negan’s Tekken 7 reveal trailer

Don’t forget to blink, breathe, and cry!

This past weekend was a massive treat for fans of Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Tekken 7. In addition to the 2018 Tekken World Tour Finals culminating in spectacular fashion with a Panda victory by Rahgchu, Katushiro Harada and Michael Murray dropped a hype nuke on fans with the reveals of remaining Season 2 characters Armor King, Craig Marduk, and Julia Chang. If that wasn’t enough, were were also treated to our first in-game glimpse of the title’s upcoming guest character, AMC’s The Walking Dead’s Negan, in the form of a cinematic trailer that was guaranteed to delight fans of the series.

Negan’s trailer recreates the iconic lineup sequence from the Season 6 finale “Last Day On Earth” and the Season 7 premiere “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be,” with several of Tekken’s cast members stepping it to fill the roles of Rick’s group of survivors.

Specifically, Kazuya Mishima is Rick Grimes, Jin Kazama is Carl Grimes, Heihachi Mishima is Glenn Rhee, with wife Kazumi Mishima serving as Maggie Rhee. Lars Alexandersson plays the part of Daryl Dixon, Josie Rizal is Sasha Williams, Paul Phoenix steps  into the shoes of Abraham Ford, Master Raven stands in for Michonne, Nina Williams is Rosita Espinosa, Steve Fox is Aaron, while Bob Richards channels his portly counterpart Dr. Eugene Porter. Finally, Bryan Fury serves as the proxy for Simon, Negan’s lieutenant in the Saviors.

To further illustrate just how closely the Tekken team worked with AMC, Melku44 put the trailer side-by-side with various clips from the show,  chronicling a massive amount of references to the source material, including the inspiration for his hilarious shot at Bob that closed the trailer. You can see the full video below, but be advised that it is NSFW due to language and graphic violence, and contains (old) spoilers for The Walking Dead.

Negan is set to join Tekken 7 as part of DLC9 sometime in 2019.

Tekken 7 video roundup — Marduk VTS cancel juggles, Armor King cross-up tech traps, and more!

The first week of Tekken 7‘s new DLC wrestlers — Marduk and Armor King — is coming to a close. The general consensus is that these two deal disgusting damage and break some Tekken rules in their own unique ways — just like good wrestling heels should.

Let’s see what the community has cooked today! High damage juggles for Armor King seems like a fine place to start…

It’s probably not surprising that Armor King has a cross-up move like this for tech catches. King has a similar trick with his Running Exploder, though this elbow is sadly inferior until we see a non-wall setup. Still, very cool find!

Sadly, it’s not all good news for Armor King. This particular ground throw is -27… on hit. Be careful where you place it.

As for Marduk? Well, it’s always nice when a normal combo ender can be delayed to tech catch:

If you’ve been having trouble with Marduk’s VTS combos, perhaps this tutorial can help out.

And closing out today’s list is the disgusting knowledge that Marduk can cross-under to keep wall positioning after a wall combo > ground throw setup. Gross.
